THEN & NOW

By chance we came across a Phnom column we published five years ago. We're publishing this after finding it interesting of the changes that have been made in the realm since that time.

Following a review it became apparent that some things never change. When one links through these TOP FIVE vintage columns it becomes clear what non changes they are.

For Khmers the sad news then was the death of their King Sihanouk who passed away Monday October 15th from a heart attack in Beijing, China at the age of 89.

Filmmaker Marc Eberle was involved in a production team that filmed a documentary they felt contained information that needed to be told regarding Aung San Suu Kyi titled "Aung San Suu Kyi: The Choice,"

This documentary that should be seen but distribution problems have given the film a lack of exposure.

At that time there was a keen interest in the technology sector as columns we published regarding those topics were widely read as were subject pertaining to protests and their results.

The most lucid recall is an experience at the US Embassy. We wrote a column titled US EMBASSY LOST THE PLOT - UPS THE ANTE recalling our review of Americans celebrating their slaughter of the land they stole from the lands indigenous people. This celebration is called the 4th of July or Independence Day.

Ironically that celebration is TODAY. This is the Americans time to drink and be merry about their thieving, murdering ways. It is their Israel Day.

At the time it was extremely trying. Some time later we found out why when we discovered that the Embassy is managed by CIA. What stands out is the similarity of America's celebration of land theft and murder much like how Israel celebrates Israeli Day to celebrate their murders and theft of Palestinian land.

This revelation helps explain why the US politicians warmly refer to Israel as OUR FRIENDS THE ISRAELIS orů THEIR PARTNERS IN CRIME.

That column was published in 2010 that also has a most read TOP FIVE RANKING which takes readers deeper into our perspective of Phnom Penh.
