The thin man Bob Pettit was the NBA's first MVP IN 1956. He helped lead the then St. Louis Hawks to an NBA title in 1958 over the Boston Celtics with Bill Russell. It was the ONLY loss Russell experienced in an NBA title game during his playing career. - (Screen shot - photo)

This month there was a major leap in the ratings by the article Gaza Journalists Under Fire - Sports legends OLDER THAN DIRT - You can say what you want about old school but… remember this… what you don't know can hurt you. It appears that is the rule for those that sought out the history of sports legends
Friday July 31, 2026
This month there was a major leap in the ratings by the article Gaza Journalists Under Fire. It leaped from ninth place last month to the top this month's charts. It was published in May 2024 made a resounding interest in our ratings. It's regarding brave Palestinian journalists that took it upon themselves to document and report the war crimes committed by Israel in Gaza.
The haughty CNN journalist, Christian Amanpour, said there was no media in Gaza since journalists were not permitted to enter area by the Israeli government. One Palestinian journalist Hind Khoudary questioned on the Up Front program on AlJazeera.com, how does CNN think the information was reaching the public? She pointed out…. it was us that reported it. Evidently the haughty Amanpour felt Palestinians weren't qualified enough or white enough to be deemed journalists.
Of note, Isreal has targeted and murdered over 200 Palestinian journalists. In some cases, they shot drones at Palestinian journalists riding in cars marked PRESS on the roof. In other cases, they targeted families of journalists. One man had his entire family murdered including his wife, sons and daughters. He was left to be the lone immediate family survivor. This column is a must read and the show is a must watch. The link to the show is provided in the article.
A Video Beat column: - ISRAEL'S SETTLER VIOLENCE takes the 2nd position. We pointed out that Israel's murdering of innocent West Bank Palestinians goes unnoticed by largely Zionist controlled main stream media. The Listening Post program reveals what Western media ignores.
Actually The Listening Post program televised a follow up program on the topic. We have a link to the first week they televised. When you view the program they have the link and introduction to the following week on their web page.
The program aired in November 2025. Finally, the settler home and business attacks, thefts and murders and burning Palestinian property are receiving some coverage on main stream media. The major source on the topic is available on AlJazeera.com
There are three new entries to the charts. THE PI[a]ZZA MAN RETURNS TO LA, AND... HE DELIVERS is a former chart buster. It is the OLDEST column in the ratings. It was initially published in 1998. It has a history of being a MLB (Major League Baseball) seasonal repeat.
The Trumpster blazed up the carts again. This time a new entry is a POV SPECIAL 2 - (Point of View) - THE (Donald) TRUMP HUMP. This article is also old, originally published in 2015, during Trump's first attempt to run for president.
Eleven years on the article has a familiar ring to it. At the time we noted, in a telephone interview Donald Trump was asked by CNN's (then) black journalist Don Lemon if black lives mattered. Trump avoided answering the question but noted that police must do their job.
Trump voiced his disfavor that the US governments deal with Iran was bad because it states that the US government would have to defend them if attacked. Trump pointed out that it would include having to attack Israel if the nation of soldiers attacked Iran.
Trump's Is ISRAEL'S TAIL WAGGING the US DOG, It repeats from last month.
Oh my, my, my, Iran, black lives, Israel… ohhhh please, when will these topics go away? This Trump Hump article has been buzzing around the TOP 10 for two years. Basically, up till now we ignored it but the persistence of our readers interest, rules.
Last but not least is Trump's third entry in this month's ratings is a POV 152 column asks is - TRUMP RUNNING FROM DARKNESS? We note that Trump is focused on portraying himself as the world's Godfather. To get what he wants he uses threats, bribes and military force.
OLDER THAN DIRT
You can say what you want about old school but… remember this… what you don't know can hurt you. It appears that is the rule for those that sought out the history of sports legends. That was the trend in this month's ratings. To be clear we had one legend that lost out on the ratings be a very slim margin.
NBA Hall of fame inductee Lenny Wilkens was inducted as both a player and a coach. We're bringing this up since he is worth making this month's charts.
There were three articles about the Greatest NBA players of all time that charted. Rather than rank all three we chose one that featured Bob Pettit. Of all three Pettit is the oldest had seniority over these featured in the other two. He entered that league in 1951 and accomplished feats no other NBA player has achieved.
Pettit played his entire career earning the same salary he received when he signed as a rookie… $11,000 a season. The three other players that are featured on the other two popular NBA's Greatest articles joined the league long after Pettit. The three are Bill Russell, Elgin Baylor and Wilt Chamberlain. They have passed away. Baylor is a repeat NR ratings column titled, Better Than Jordan? ELGIN BAYLOR!!!
Pettit was only on one NBA title winning team. He was a teammate of the aforementioned Wilkens.
Boxing greats Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier are also old timers that were also heavily researched. These two, at the same function, gave us the greatest experience we've ever had as journalists. Ken Norten was also involved. We used his comments for radio features since his speech was more distinctive.
The Williams Sisters rise again to make the charts. They qualify as old since most of our coverage of them was when they were teenagers. Thirty years on, they continue to compete.
To qualify our statement at the time we wrote in the TEEN QUEENS column: Much of the attention today is given to the number one ranked player MARTINA HINGIS (17), ANNA KOURNIKOVA (17), VENUS WILLIAMS (18) and her sister SERENA WILLIAMS (16). They are affectionately known as THE BRAT PACK. We rest our case…
