SAVE THE WHALES

Surprises and consistency were in store on American Idol's Final 9 show. For the good news the group singing at the beginning of the results show continues to be superb. From the Top 24 till now the opening group ensemble vocals are spot on. These contestants have an incredible blend worth of recording as a group. The song selections, choreography, who sings what when is as perfect as it can get. The contestants all look in an earnest joyful mood as they perform. This opinion spans the last six seasons since Carrie Underwood won in season four (4) that we have reviewed the show.

For the bad news the bottom three had three newcomers with two shockers. Firstly Sumo wrestler sized Michael Lynche who has a strong smooth voice with Luther Vandross qualities. The big Teddy Bear as he is referred to by his fellow contestants suffered the blow of judge Simon Cowell's negative critique of his rendition of the Beatles Eleanor Rigby. Cowell didn't get Lynche's (his opinion) too theatrical performance. . AI viewers were influenced and Lynche's future was in jeopardy. All of the other judges praised Lynche's performance.

After noting that he didn't agree and wasn't impressed with the other judges some of Cowell's scathing remarks included, "I think it (Lynche's performance) made you go slightly backwards. It was too over the top. I'm slightly confused about what type of artist you want to be."

This was Cowell's lynch mobbing the jovial and talented Michael (The Teddy Bear) Lynche. Ironically Lynche as a member of his family's touring entertainment troop called themselves the Lynche Mob. This time Simon (Holy) Cowell did it for him. Cowell appeared to be setting Lynche up to fail.

The second being 16-year-old Aaron Kelly who we've compared to a lighter voiced David Archuleta the second place finisher to David Cook in Season 7.

On the performance show Kelly was the only contestant who received negative reviews from all four judges after he was the first to perform that night. He sang well considering he caught laryngitis and tonsillitis two weeks ago and his voice remains hoarse and is not as sharp and clear as it was prior to his illness. He's fighting through it without complaining but the judges are giving him no mercy.

The third bottom three qualifier was Andrew Garcia whom we questioned how he qualified for the Top 24. Garcia has a great personality and is improving but there were singers who were eliminated in the Hollywood auditions who have better voices. He appears to be one of the judge's pets.

Kelly was the first to be saved from the bottom three followed by Garcia leaving the whale sized Lynche hung out to dry and be eliminated. AI viewers were influenced by Cowell's negative critique as Lynche received the lowest number of votes. Being in the Top 9 the former high school football player was in a position where the judges could use a save only ONCE until the top 5 and never more for this season. It's a case of the judges can use it or lose it after they reach the Top 5..

"Big Mike is going to sing for his life," announced host Ryan Seacrest.

Lynche gave a whale (pun intended) of a performance as he went back to is strength and sang his soulful style singing a very moving rendition of "This Woman's Work" a song he sang earlier in the season after his wife gave birth to their child. Since that time she has joined him in Los Angeles and was in the audience.

As his eyes appeared to be watering up he belted out the song with emotion and living each lyric while his wife was in the audience crying. His passionate performance resulted in him being unanimously saved by the judges.

The decision was a good choice and use of the save rule but it has a negative connotation... two contestants will be eliminated next week and cannot be saved since the save is all used up thus next week the Top 9 will be reduced to the Top 7.

NOTE

David Archuleta made a guest appearance on the results show with Rihana. He played piano and sang Imagine. The now 18-year-old continues to possess his performing magic and great voice complimented with his wholesome image and politeness. His appearance is taking on a look of a young Neil Diamond.

Archuleta was well received last year when he made several television appearances in Southeast Asia.

Carrie Underwood is the top selling American Idol alumni in record sales with 11,485,000 units for her three album releases.

WHAT'S UP?

Last seasons runner-up Adam Lambert will make a guest appearance on next weeks results show.

CNN's SAVE THE CHILDREN RHINESTONE RAMBO INFESTS PHNOM PENH

It's sad to say but it's almost comical how many NGO's are profiteering from the problems of the disadvantaged poor families of Cambodia who are so poor that their children are sold into prostitution willingly or not.

In February CNN telecast a feature on child prostitution in Cambodia on their World's Untold Stories program titled Innocence for Sale. If there ever was a misnomer this is it as this story is repeatedly told as we've witnessed fool after fool deceiving the public about their intentions.

The focus was on the undercover detective work of another Rhinestone Rambo who came to the land of Angkor Wat to save the children, to put his life on the line and defying danger.

This is a reoccurring theme for those blood thirsty networks that seek sensationalized programming. CNN's apparent star Anderson Cooper previously made the trip for his 360 show with the same theme with the same results…. NOTHING BUT SENSATIONALIZED PROGRAMMING and NOT SOLVING THE PROBLEM.... POVERTY.

The BBC also previously aired two other tough guy Rambo's on the same mission with the same results. That was more comical as they informed the police (brilliant) where they were going to raid and needed their help. The twist is when they arrived no one was there. Hmmmmm. Go figure. But Hey!!! Back to the Rhinestone Rambo.

One of the opening scenes was the very healthy and plump Mr. Rambo standing with his arms crossed Rambo style with four tough looking guys behind him with their arms crossed and tough looks as if they were going to kick all of the ass in the world. The only thing missing was music in the background with Glen Campbell singing 'I'm a Rhinestone Rambo.'

The Rambo man boasted how he was going undercover into a brothel selling children. His voice was nervous as he explained how he could take pictures in focus with his undercover watch that had a camera without being detected. Now this was a moment that would make Dick Tracy proud, the problem is Dick Tracy is a comic book character this character is real.

The weirdness about this program is Mr. Rambo is undercover but his face is splashed all over the screen. How undercover is that!!! What did Forrest Gump say? "Stupid is what stupid does."

To be continued…
