ROBERT PLANT GRAMMY'S - TWO FOR THE GIPPER

Other then the news that Rihanna was a no show for her scheduled performance on the 51st Grammy Awards show last week and old timer Robert Plant winning the coveted award and being in moth balls for several years was a major surprise but the remainder of the program was a bit bland. The show lacked luster and spark.

Singers Chris Brown and Rihanna were scheduled to perform at the awards, but both were no-shows. Brown was reported to have been fighting with an undisclosed female outside of his car. Brown was in the early afternoon of the awards show, and detectives investigating the alleged domestic violence felony battery booked him for criminal threats. His girlfriend, singer Rihanna, abruptly canceled her planned Grammy performance, but neither her spokesman nor the show organizers gave a reason. The female victim has since been identified as Rihanna, but under her real name, Robyn Rihanna Fenty. Brown could face up to 4 years in jail under domestic charges and 9 years under criminal threats. Until now Brown has had a squeaky clean image but that all went down the drain with the Grammy's being the platform to spread the bad news. But the show went on with some surprises.

Jennifer Hudson continues to prove Simon Cowell and American Idol wrong as she continues to win awards. She did it again as she received the Grammy Award for Best R&B Album. That will compliment her Academy Award on her Awards mantle.

A refreshing performance was provided by R&B legend Stevie Wonder sharing the stage with the youthful and upcoming Jonas Brothers.

The 60-year-old Plant was the lead singer for the English Rock band Led Zeppelin. He is now enjoying a successful solo career. His recently released an album, Raising Sand, produced by T-Bone Burnett with American bluegrass soprano Alison Krauss, won the 2009 Grammy Award for Record of the Year and the coveted Album of the Year for their 2008 effort.

His success answers some of our concerns regarding old Rock N' Rollers living to the age of 50 due to the overuse of drugs from the 60's flower power free love craze days. He career is currently thriving while many others are no longer with us.

Of those mentioned who passes away this past year from the 60's era were Buddy Miles of the Electric Flag, Mitch Mitchell the drummer for Jimi Hendrix in the 60's and others. Some of the behind the scenes music personalities who passed away were jazz great Merle Saunders, Freddie Hubbard as well as executives Jerryl Busby of Motown, Jerry Wexler of Atlantic Records and songwriter producer Norman Whitfield.

The hit singles Whitfield produced in his 25-year career included "I Heard It through the Grapevine", "Ain't Too Proud to Beg", "(I Know) I'm Losing You", "Cloud Nine", "War", "Papa Was a Rolling Stone", "Smiling Faces Sometimes" and "Car Wash". Alongside his Motown lyrical collaborator Barrett Strong, he was inducted to the Songwriter's Hall of Fame in 2004. .

The Grammy's seem to be lacking something. The show may have had a black cloud hanging over it this year given the Rihanna crisis. It was at the last moment and producers have to fill the void during the last minute. Whatever the problem the Grammy's have some fixing up to do.

IT'S ON... AMERICAN IDOL'S PAULA ABDUL, KARA DIOGUARDI & THE BIKINI GIRL

This season of American Idol's addition of Kara Dioguardi has spiced up the show a bit and has given it a greater dynamic. Paula Abdul now has a shoulder to cry on and an ally to support her in the time of need when Simon 'The Merciless' Cowell starts picking on her for not getting her words and thoughts out quickly enough. In summary he wants her to get to the point rather than blabbering on about nothing.

Since Kara has been on the show Paula seems much happier but this past week on the Jay Leno Tonight Show the reasons why came out when Paula was a guest on the program. Paula says she met Dioguardi 10 years ago outside the Brooklyn Diner in New York City when Kara approached her and complimented Abdul about replying to her then boss at Billboard Magazine regarding a non specific matter.

Paula liked her energy and asked if she wrote songs which Kara did and Paula then invited her to join her for lunch. Kara later played Paula some of her songs of which Paula was excited about several. They then wrote a song together that became a # 1 hit in England and other International markets for Kylie Manogue. Paula then told Kara to give two weeks notice to quit her job and come to LA and stay with her.

Abdul then related how Kara sleep walks and ate her "Out of house and home." Kara eventually moved out and was a judge on a rival networks talent show similar to American Idol. When she was hired by American Idol this season Paula was thrilled. And now you know the rest of the story.

The two weren't so thrilled about the Bikini Girl's audition for AI in Phoenix, Arizona because they felt she had more show than talent. Simon and Randy Jackson were pleased with the way Bikini Girl looked. Kara then displayed her catty side as she went head to head with a contestant who auditioned in a bikini bathing suite… it was almost GET IT ON TIME.

The contestant Katrina Darrell from Chino Hills, California sang OK and was approved by Randy and Simon. Paula and Kara took exception to the contestants look and presentation. Kara adamantly said Darrell didn't have the voice to carry the song she sang. Kara then demonstrated how she thought the song should be sung and Darrell wasn't impressed and voiced her opinion to Kara of her version. The feathers flew but Simon holds the tie breaking vote and the bikini girl received a GOLD ticket to Hollywood while Kara was breathing fire.

In Hollywood the Bikini Girl became a problem with other singers and was eliminated.

This is one of American Idol's MOST MEMORABLE MOMENTS and is deserving of a follow-up. We suggest a Pay Per View MUD WRESTLING FIGHT between The Bikini Girl and Kara to settle things once and for all. I'd pay money to see that (up to $10) and forego the press credential. It would be the biggest draw in American Idol history and possibly THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH!!!

PREVIOUSLY - We deemed her the bikini girl
