CNN talk show host Englishman Piers Morgan was verbally overwhelmed when interviewing an irate radio show host Alex Jones a pro gun ownership advocate from Austin, Texas. Morgan wants gun ownership to be banned in America feeling that it would make a difference in eliminating the mass murders in the nation by those easily purchasing weapons with the intent to kill. THE IRATE DEBATE

Once again CNN talk show host Piers Morgan is in the news as the Englishman raised the ire of Alex Jones a pro gun advocate and radio program host who also has a presence on social media that Morgan should be deported. The reason why is Morgan is campaigning on air to ban guns in America. Morgan feels that too many mass murders are a result of the 2nd amendment law that an Americans have a right to bear arms. More than 100,000 people have signed the petition to deport Morgan that emanated in December following the Newton, Connecticut mass murders of elementary school children.

I am not a fan of Morgan as his arrogant style of communicating in his interviews is annoying as was his sneak attack on actor Robert Blake. This is the case for many of the English presenters currently cluttering American TV shows today as being haughty, crude and rude in the mold of former American Idol judge Simon Cowell who is a friend of Morgan. In this case Morgan has the right to express his opinion.

As a guest on the show Jones turned the tables on Morgan Monday when he was the aggressor and conducted himself as does Morgan in talking over people and not listening and permitting them to answer. His hostility and not permitting Morgan to speak was overbearing. He was totally out of control.

Jones repeatedly yelled at Morgan and on one occasion mocked Morgan's English accent. The Texan totally lost the plot. Morgan has the right to make his point and express himself on this issue. The deportation of Morgan for wanting gun ownership to be against the law is not warranted. Two days after the conflict with Jones Morgan interviewed Larry Pratt who represents the Gun Owners of America. Morgan pointed out that 300 MILLION guns are in circulation in America. Included is the AR-15 which can hold 100 bullets and is attributed to be used in many of the mass murders.

Jones' irate display in defending the ownership of guns is alarming as he in the type of individual that should not have a gun yet he owns 50. An individual who can't control their emotions and talk intelligently about an issue on an International television show has the wrong temperament for one to own a gun. One rationale for Morgan's point of view is the wrong people own guns that have killed numerous people are mentally incompetent thus gun ownership should be outlawed in America as they are in his country Britain.

Morgan made several points regarding the mass murders committed in America by individuals who lost their mind in a fit of rage. Jones lost control of his emotions on Morgan's show. He displayed the type of temperament of some of those that have committed mass murders.

Morgan failed to point out the mass murder in Jones home town of Austin, Texas from the University of Texas tower. That would have struck home and made his point more noteworthy. Both were very young at the time of the incident but as they say the apple doesn't fall very far from the tree. Austin, Texas is Jones tree and the University of Texas Austin campus is the apple.

Jones is 38, thus he wasn't born at the time of the Texas University mass murders in which 14 people were killed and 32 others were wounded on campus by Charles Whitman on August 1, 1966. At the time Morgan now 47 was one year and five months old. The fact that this shooting rampage wasn't noticed and researched by Morgan's production staff points out that Morgan's staff is either too young or has a lack of research experience. This is the perfect story for Morgan to drive home his point as it occurred in Jones' backyard.

Whitman fired at random targets from the 28th-floor observation deck of the Main Building. Whitman was shot and killed by Austin Police Officer Houston McCoy. Prior to starting the shootings at the University of Texas, Whitman had murdered both his wife and mother in Austin.

An interesting aspect of Whitman's background was he was a Marine in the US military. Whitman's initial 18-month tour of duty in 1959 and 1960 was exemplary, and he earned a Good Conduct Medal, a Sharpshooter's Badge and the Marine Corps Expeditionary Medal. After completing his assignment, Whitman applied to a U.S. Navy and Marine Corps scholarship program, intending to complete college and become a commissioned officer.

He earned high scores on the required examination, and the selection committee approved his enrollment at a preparatory school in Maryland. Whitman successfully completed courses in mathematics and physics before being approved to transfer to the University of Texas to study mechanical engineering. Later he majored there in architectural engineering. As a student, he received his regular active-duty military pay as he was still in the Marines.

On the morning of August 1st 1966 Whitman rented a hand truck from Austin Rental Company and cashed $250 ($1791 in 2012 dollars) of worthless checks at the bank before driving to a hardware store, where he purchased a Universal M1 carbine, two additional ammunition magazines and eight boxes of ammunition, explaining to the cashier that he planned to hunt wild hogs. Whitman drove to Chuck's Gun Shop, where he purchased four more carbine magazines, six additional boxes of ammunition, and a can of gun cleaning solvent. He went to Sears, where he bought a 12 gauge semi-automatic shotgun and a green rifle case. He returned with his purchases to his home.

Inside his garage, Whitman sawed off the barrel of the 12-gauge shotgun, and packed the weapon, together with a Remington 700 6mm bolt-action hunting rifle, a .35 caliber pump rifle, a .30 caliber carbine, a 9mm Lugar pistol, a Galesi-Brescia .25-caliber pistol and a Smith & Wesson M19 .357 Magnum revolver, and over 700 rounds of ammunition. He had already packed in it food, coffee, vitamins, Dexedrine, Excedrin, earplugs, jugs of water, matches, lighter fluid, rope, binoculars, a machete, three knives, a transistor radio, toilet paper, a razor and a bottle of deodorant into his footlocker. Before heading to the tower about 11:00 a.m., Whitman dressed in khaki coveralls over his shirt and jeans. In a well thought out plan he was prepared to kill.

Morgan's point that the high tech new weapons used in the most recent mass murders are weapons that are designed only to murder people. Whitman's mass murders prove that weapons don't make a difference being that a gun is a gun that can kill. Morgan's point that all gun ownership should be banned in America is valid. Gun manufactures and owners disagree and have a strong representation and support in the US political system.

Morgan was rattled as Jones came off as being a threat to Morgan's life. The next day Morgan was so upset that he did a he did a follow-up show obtaining comments from his guests regarding Jones' conduct. The consensus was that Jones was irrational and Morgan had a valid opinion. One point came to light to support Jones' claim that banning guns won't eliminate mass murders was the case in Norway where gun ownership is illegal there was a mass murder.

s much as we may not like Morgan's overbearing snobbish style of interviewing the good news that he got a taste of his own medicine leaving him startled. The bottom line is like Morgan or not he has the right to express his opinion without being deported or threatened by someone with raving lunatic tendencies before an International television audience. Agree or not is up to you.
