OBSERVATIONS

The interesting thing about watching the reruns of American Idol's season 8 & 9 is we already know who the winners are but from the beginning of the audition stage we now can tune in on their behavior, performance and progress to the Top 12.

The other interesting aspect is watching the ultimate judge (in his mind) Simon Cowell's radical behavior change from season 8 when he was the top dog boss and the final decision maker when there was a tie to season 9 when prior to the beginning of the auditions it was announced that he was leaving the show and that would be his last season. What we observed was the change of attitude and behavior from top dog to and quiet puppy who had much less to say and seemed to sulk throughout the season. He basically quit as if to show the world the show will never be the same without me.

Now the NBA'S Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert didn't say word about Cowell as he did about LeBron James leaving the Cavs to sign with the Miami Heat but the reality is the Cowell ain't Gilbert's niggah. This quip is in reference to former US presidential candidate Jessie Jackson who is black saying that Gilbert's comments were as if he was angry that in James departure was like a slave owners mentality that he owned the player.

Now this is about Cowell and we all know he doesn't play basketball but we do know he left American Idol after nine seasons of being his salty best. The point is Cowell's behavioral change can now be observed if you start viewing now as season 8 is in progress up to the Hollywood auditions.

Now if you're looking for the Bikini Girl she's done her dive thing and left the show. But what we now can observe is the progress of the winner Kris Allen and runner-up Adam Lambert both of whom were low profile during the auditions stages.

Yesterday both Allen and Matt Girard were in the group auditions in a group of four who called themselves White Chocolate. They were excellent and all four went through but eventually only Girard and Allen survived to the Top 12 or as the exception for season 8 the Final 13.

For the Bikini Girl fans we can now wait for her return when in the final show while she was singing judge Kara DioGuardi appeared on stage a she came from behind our beloved Bikini girl and started singing and then disrobed to show off her not too firm body but it was OK and worth another look. That segment should go down into the archives of American Idol's all time best clips. Enough with my ideas for that show as they will only steal it, not pay me or give me credit; we all know how they are.

The progress of Adam Lambert will be of most interest as we don't recall him during the auditions stages at all. THIS IS A WAL (WORTH A LOOK).

LOCKED UP ABROAD SWITCHED GEARS

The two week special showing of Locked Up Abroad has taken a surprising turn of events. The program has digressed from doing stories of people being locked up after they are caught trafficking drugs to foreigners being captured by terrorists and escaped convicts.

The show that stands out the most was a young backpacker in Delhi was befriended by a byspeckled British college student of Asian decent who said he was from India. He invited the backpacker to go on a journey with him. Enroot the backpacker was abducted and found out the new friend was from Pakistan and he was a hostage to be held for ransom. He was later joined by two other captured foreigners.

The program also shows the Pakistani befriending an American backpacker in Delhi with the same results but he was separated from the others. They were saved by Indian police who by chance came across the terrorists hiding place.

The chilling aspect of this story is the friendly college student looking terrorist later contributed $100,000 towards one of the terrorist of the 9-11 attack and was one of those responsible of the beheading of journalist Daniel Pearl.

THIS IS A MUST WATCH for travelers and foreigners particularly white people as they are depicted as being the prime catch for terrorists.

A point of interest is that the five shows televised Monday through Friday were repeated back to back on Saturday afternoon from 11 AM or NOON depending on the time zone you live in.

Programs are available ON DEMAND on the National Geographic web site.
