WHAT'S UP WITH AMERICAN IDOL?

After we expressed our concerns about the integrity of the American Idol voting system it was revealed that there were problems as SMS votes for winner Kris Allen were being stuffed into the AI voting system which is against the rules.

Allen's win over Adam Lambert resulted in speculation about voter manipulation, a Christian voting bloc, and as many as "38 million" votes coming from Arkansas, Kris's home state, a state with only 2.8 million people.

There were also allegations that AT&T may have influenced the results. Fox had previously denied these claims as baseless stating that the network has no preference on who the winner might be. AT&T meanwhile said in a statement that the vote tally above was based on incorrect information and apologized by saying that "AT&T does not divulge or confirm how many votes were cast in any state." On May 27, 2009, the producers of the show stated that they "stand by the outcome" and are "absolutely certain" that "without a doubt Kris Allen is the American Idol".

For the finals there were almost 100 million votes cast and logic challenges how they could they accumulate those numbers within a four hour time frame. We have never heard of the firm Telescope who certified the votes. Their representative on the Finals show had an English accent. The shows creator Simon Fuller and judge Simon Cowell are English.

AMERICAN IDOLS DO NOT MEET LARRY KING

More strange American Idol happenings. American television talk show host Larry King usually interviews the Top 10 American Idols within days after the winner is decided. Last week the program aired and King was missing without explanation. In his place was American Idol host Ryan Seacrest interviewing the same people that he has been involved for several months. The result was the program was a dull as kissing your sister.

The too close for comfort element was evident as the too sweet questions were excessive. Why would CNN think that this was such and interesting dynamic is beyond reason?

Seacrest's softball and protectionism of the now controversial Idol for the wrong reasons program was obvious. With King it's more interesting to have a man in his 70's ask sometimes naïve, sometimes direct and sometimes difficult questions to contestants who are young enough to be his grandchildren.

The show came off more so as a promotional piece for American Idol and doesn't qualify a real interview. Everything was too nice, nice. After the program was over Seacrest thanked King for letting him do the interview.

The question is why would King agree do permit that to happen? Credibility points are lost.

What was interesting was AI judge Paula Abdul appeared on the program and continued to say nothing of substance. Her appearance could be to promote her new album and the visibility on the program helps promote that.

Judge Randy Jackson called in and said all nice things a facsimile of Abdul. Kara DioGuardi and Simon Cowell were among the missing. To sum the show up in one word…. BORING

AMERICAN IDOLS TALK

What little that did come out of the Larry King did not meet the American Idols show hosted by Ryan Seacrest were winner Kris Allen and runner-up and favored Adam Lamberts comments:

The famed rock group Queen with whom Lambert and Allen sang with on the Finals show asked Lambert to sing with them on some of their dates when they are on tour. He agreed to do so but emphasized that they did not ask him to be the lead singer of the band. He pointed out that their dates could conflict with the Idol's summer tour which would negate his appearing with them. He noted that he preferred to pursue career in the Pop Rock genre.

Lambert pointed out that at the beginning of the season the contestants were more competitive towards each other than towards at the end. "We were defining ourselves. It was about our performances."

Regarding losing to Allen, Lambert said: "It's not about winning it's about staying on the show as long as possible. The goal for me was to go out there and do your best every week."

Allen added, "I never went out to beat anyone."

All of the contestants said that Danny Gokey was the most competitive.

Allen said of the AI judges, "Sometimes I don't think they were paying attention that much."

Regarding his win: "I was completely shocked. Adam is great. Adam is amazing. He's the best singer that's ever been on American Idol."

Lambert thought that the winner would be Allen.

The most interesting comment came from Gokey who felt that all of the compliments the judges gave Lambert throughout the season would hurt him.

What was not stressed throughout the Idol season was Allen like Gokey is a Christian. Gokey is the leader of his church choir and his Christianity was a strong point for him to receive the Christian vote. When he was eliminated at # 3 it was felt that Allen would receive those Christian votes.

All of the Top 10 contestants are signed with AI creator Simon Fuller's 19 Entertainment until after their 50 city tour this summer. After the tour somecontestants may be retained and others dropped they are not sure what will happen.

They noted that they were paid for the regular season of Idol and would receive good salaries for the tour.

Randy Jackson said regarding the rumor that Simon Cowell would be leaving the show after next season, "I don't know what the show would be without him."

Lil Rounds children are ages 5, 3 & 2.

Oil rigger Michael Sarver quit his job and intends t pursue a career in music after the tour.

SUSAN BOYLE RECEIVES FIRST KISS

Forty eight year old singing sensation Susan Bolye received her first ever kiss it was revealed by Britain's Got Talent judge Piers Morgan on the Larry King show. Morgan was the winner of the Celebrity Apprentice and is one of three judges on the BGT show which includes Simon Cowell.

Boyle has shocked the world with her powerful voice. She has risen to worldwide fame and attention and qualified for the finals. The singing sensation from a tiny village in Scotland is a very plain looking somewhat corpulent lady who claims that she is a virgin and has never been kissed.

Morgan said that after one of her performances she was so excited that when she came off the stage ran up to Morgan and planted a kiss on his lips. Morgan said he was "Quite flattered," about being the first man ever to kiss her.

This past weekend Boyle finished as the runner-up in the Britain's Got Talent competition.

AMERICANS ADJUST

As they say what goes up must come down as the price of movie tickets go up the American public is making adjustments on how to get by in the digital age. They can have their cake and eat it too as pointed out from the following quote. "As the June 12 digital television transition date nears, the average price for HDTVs continues to fall and HDTV programming increases, consumers are buying their first, second or third high-definition televisions," said Ben Arnold, CEA's (Consumer Electronics Association) senior research analyst. "With fewer Americans traveling and going out for entertainment, they are, in turn, choosing to stay home, save money and watch high-definition content in the comfort of their own living room."
