CNN DIGS FOR DIRT - WHO LOVES YA BABY?

This was a week of television dysfunctional family tear jerkers and most of it was supplied by the man with an ego and a half Piers Morgan on his CNN talk show.

Today is the 2nd anniversary of Michael Jackson's death. To take advantage of that tragedy Morgan had as his guest last week LaToya Jackson Michael's older sister who has had a life mostly of confusion and misery.

On the show LaToya primarily focused on promoting her book and recording titled Starting Over. Once again she's born again for the umpteenth time and at 55 (three years older than Michael) she's put behind her the accusations that she was abused by her father as a child, her marriage to thought to be Mafia member Jack Gordon who wanted her to perform in a porno film and her loss of her brother Michael.

Morgan pressed on for as much dirt as he could get from her about her relationship with Gordon who controlled her every move and held her passport so she couldn't get away from under his grip. After years of Gordon's dominance of her life LaToya's brother Randy rushed to New York to save her and they fled from the hotel where she was held captive while Gordon was taking a shower. Gordon died April 19, 2005 after battling cancer for several months.

LaToya did talk about how generous and wonderful Michael was and that put some sugar on a tart tasting interview that was somewhat like making a viewer grit their teeth and bear it.

But hey… that wasn't enough. Morgan also had the dysfunctional father and daughter duo of Ryan and Tatum O'Neal on TWO SEPARATE SHOWS since they don't get along.

Tatum now in her late 40's told her tale of how she was abused while she was a child but did admit that she handled many things wrong including abusing drugs. Her excuse was she was around drugs from when she was a child and her father was smoking pot and doing other things that led to her downfall.

A day later on his turn at the microphone Ryan told Morgan that during that time the raging 60's everybody was doing it. Ryan was spot on with that assessment as it was the flower power days of peace and love.

Between the two Ryan seemed to be more sensitive than Tatum and was nearly brought to tears several times. He basically accused her of being malicious and evil in some ways and resented him for marrying Farrah Fawcett. Tatum complained that she was forced into show business by Ryan and Ryan denied that but noted that she was a millionaires when she was barely in her teens.

One of Ryan's sons was also drug addicted and had problems in breaking the law to which Ryan felt he got what he deserved. Morgan was taking it all in as he has no experience of knowing what the 60's was all about since he was born during that time and was too young to experience it despite how intelligent he thinks he is.The other CNN sensationalized focus is their Freedom Project where they have changed their purpose from STOPPING human trafficking and slavery when they first started promoting the program to FIGHTING it.

Well there was enough dirt during these three programs to fill the Suez Canal BUT… as they say… it was good sensationalized programming the CNN way. The bottom line is if it's sensationalized television that you're looking for tune in to CNN.
