SARVER ELIMINATED CORKREY SPARED AGAIN

It defies logic how Megan Joy Corkrey can escape being eliminated on American Idol. After her performance this past week Judge Randy Jackson defined it a "TRAIN WRECK." "That was horrible," added Simon Cowell. It was surely that as the girl with a weak shaky voice which often straddles the line of going off key was spared being in the final three as America voted (or so we're told).

All of the judges went out of their way complimenting Corkery how beautiful she looked which raises the bar of suspicion that she is a favorite of the powers that be and reinforces our suspicion that she will be the contestant who will benefit by the judges SAVE RULE.

The bottom three had shocker with Matt Giraud being included after he was deservedly praised for his performance by the judges. The judges have compared Giraud's vocal talents to Justin Timberlake and Michael McDonald. When host Ryan Seacrest asked Jackson why Giraud was so lowly rated by the voters Jackson replied that it could be in order in which the contestants perform. Giraud was the first to go on in a two hour show. As we've pointed out in the past the first to perform could be the first to be forgotten by the end of a two hour program.

Blind singer/pianist Scott MacIntyre was also in the bottom three as was oil rig roughneck worker Michael Sarver. MacIntyre was the first to be saved and Sarver was eventually eliminated and the judges chose not to use their save rule.

One of the perks about being on American Idol is that the Top 10 earn the right to go on the American Idol tour during the summer where they can and perform and improve their skills and most importantly gain valuable stage experience. Though the show claims their purpose is to discover new talent American Idol has a history of showcasing contestants who have had a recording contract. Their being permitted to compete on the program is unfair to the truly inexperienced talent who are trying to make it into show business.

The other American Idol flaw is the talents who are truly dedicated to show business careers and have the talent but lack stage experience and are eliminated prior to making the top 10. This season all three of those eliminated prior to the top 10 # 13 Jasmine Murray, # 12 Jorge Nunez and # 11 Alexis Grace have more talent than some who remain in the competition. Those who remain that are unlikely to have a show business career are Anute Desai and Megan Joy (Corkrey) as well as Sarver. For some unexplained reason the powers that be have chosen to eliminate Corkrey's last name when she's introduced.

Desai is the most gifted singer but lacks show biz charisma. Sarver and Joy simply lack the talent. They will go on tour but the results will be more money for American Idol and an insult to Murray, Diaz and Grace's vocal skills. You can say that America voted but how do you know? We have some serious concerns about the integrity of the voting system.

OUT OF SIGHT!!!

The ridiculous point that American Idol judge Paula Abdul made to contestant Scott MacIntyre the previous week about getting up from his piano and perform to the audience became more obvious this week when host Ryan Seacrest noted the telephone numbers for the viewers to vote for their favorite contestant. MacIntyre joked for the viewers to vote for the pink pants that he was wearing. Seacrest asked, "How do you know they're pink? "They told me 10 minutes before the show," he replied.

Obviously someone dresses MacIntyre because HE'S BLIND which made Abdul's thoughtless comment more absurd. What she suggested was that he move around on the stage which is referred to in show business as working the audience. Eye contact with the audience is necessary and a sightless man moving around could mean he could fall off the stage. The point being that MacIntyre expressed his respect for Abdul but would take Simon HOLY Colwell's (praise Jesus) suggestion that he stay where he is behind the piano and perform noting Elton John did so.

We'd also like to point out has anyone ever seen Stevie Wonder or Ray Charles get up and start moving around the stage working the audience? We don't think so. Ironically Wonder appeared in the elimination show as a guest. While singing a medley of songs he never took Abdul's advice and got up from the piano and performed for the audience. Nuff said…

THE BEST

After being in the bottom three the previous week Allison Iraheta surged upwards in the must watch with a strong performance of Papa Was A Rolling Stone. After three weeks of competition in our opinion the 16-year-old Iraheta has the best voice in the competition. She is the most expressive in feeling from her soul and doesn't affect her voice with gravel tones or vocal tricks. She is the most natural singer true to her real voice. Allison Iraheta, 16 has a voice reminiscent of Janis Joplin but better. She has been doing talent shows since she was a child and could be the second 16-year-old to win the title. She has a stronger voice than 2007 season six winner Jordin Sparks.

The Final 9 are: (Females In Red)

Kris Allen, 23 (born June 21, 1985) from Conway, Arkansas - a college student who auditioned in Louisville, Kentucky. He's best known for his group performance of "I Want You Back" by The Jackson 5 during Hollywood week with a group called White Chocolate. "Man in the Mirror" (Michael Jackson)

Megan Joy Corkrey, 23 (born August 5, 1985) from Sandy, Utah - a font designer/single mom who auditioned in Salt Lake City, Utah with the song "Can't Help Lovin' Dat Man." Cowell has expressed numerous times that Corkrey is one of his favorites. "Put Your Records On" (Corinne Bailey Rae) "Black Horse and the Cherry Tree" (KT Tunstall)

Anoop Desai, 22 (born December 20, 1986) from Chapel Hill, North Carolina - a college student who auditioned in Kansas City, Missouri. He impressed the judges when he auditioned in Kansas City. While at school he was one of the lead singers of the UNC Clef Hangers, an a cappella vocal group that covered multiple genres of music. Desai was announced as the 13th finalist after the judges increased the finals into a Top 13. "Angel of Mine" (Monica) "My Prerogative" (Bobby Brown)

His rendition of "Georgia on My Mind" in Hollywood made him a judge favorite. "Viva la Vida" (Coldplay) "Who's Lovin' You" (Jackson 5)

Danny Gokey, 28 (born April 24, 1980) from Milwaukee, Wisconsin - a praise and worship music director who auditioned in Kansas City, Missouri along with best friend Jamar Rogers. Both made it to the Hollywood rounds, but Rogers was eliminated at week's end. Four weeks before the audition, Gokey's wife, Sophia, diagnosed with a congenital heart disease, passed away. His wife had motivated him to try out before she died. He is a judge favorite. "Hero" (Mariah Carey)

Allison Iraheta, 16 (born April 27, 1992) from Los Angeles, California - a high school student who auditioned in San Francisco, California. In 2006, she won $50,000 and a recording contract after competing in a Telemundo reality show, Quinceañera. After her top 36 performance, Cowell declared Iraheta as "one to watch in this competition". "Alone" (Heart)

Before auditioning for American Idol, he was in the touring and Los Angeles casts of Wicked. His renditions of "Some Kind of Wonderful" and "Believe" made him a judge favorite. "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" (The Rolling Stones)

Classically trained, he has been Internationally profiled on various TV affiliates such as CNN, national and local news, radio, and print media as pianist, vocalist, and songwriter. "Mandolin Rain" (Bruce Hornsby and the Range)

STAR WORLD LET US DOWN ON DAVID FOSTER & FRIENDS TELECAST

What a let down as prior to airing Star World's heavily promoted promoted David Foster & Friends Special. The result being the viewing audience was shortchanged as the show started 10 minutes late at 8:40 PM Thai time and was only a half hour in length. It was very disappointing for a show so hyped to be so short. We felt hustled.
