WHO'S BEHIND DIOGUARDI?

American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi made an appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres TV talk show. Being a first time judge on the show this season DioGuardi talked about the difference between her critique style and that of Paula Abdul by noting that Abdul and Simon Cowell make a lot of statements about the way the contestants dress. DioGuardi says she prefers to focus on critiquing their talent and by being songwriter performer she can render a more technical opinion.

The 38-year-old DioGuardi is currently engaged to be married and with what appeared to be a sigh of relief that she finally found someone that she could feel they is the special one. On how they met she explained that she owns a home in Maine and when she went there for a break from the Hollywood scene she saw a house being built next to hers. She was angry that someone would do that because it would take away her view and privacy.

One day she saw someone working on the house who she felt was the owner. She didn't want to approach him since she was not happy about the construction. She later relented and talked to the construction worker and was impressed with him. They started to correspond which turned into a relationship.

Her world started to fall apart when he then Googled her and found that she was a Hollywood personality. That turned him off and he didn't want anything to do with a Hollywood personality. She convinced him that she wasn't and was home by 10 PM and watching TV. He then gave her a second chance and that resulted into an engagement.

DioGuardi adamantly inferred that she is not the Hollywood type and is a REAL PERSON with REAL values.

DioGuardi grew up in the Wilmot Woods section of suburban New Rochelle, New York. She attended The Masters School in Dobbs Ferry, New York. After completing a political science degree at Duke University, she worked in the publishing and marketing departments of Billboard Magazine.

She is of Italian and Albanian (Arbëresh) descent and is the daughter of Carol and former Republican Rep. Joseph J. DioGuardi. Her mother died in 1997 after a 7-year battle with ovarian cancer.

DioGuardi admits to having stage fright when she was a performer. While her early solo and band efforts did not result in commercial successes, she became a much sought after songwriter, writing or co-writing many international hit songs from 1999 to today including songwriting hits for Ashlee Simpson, Hilary Duff and Enrique Iglesias". She has had over 39 albums in the Top 10 on Billboard's 200 album chart. Her songs are on over 100 million records.

The majority of her songs have been recorded by American females in the pop/rock genre, with a significant minority of songs recorded by Australian females, and Latin music artists. DioGuardi also performs backup vocals on some of these recordings.

DioGuardi co-owns Arthouse Entertainment, a publishing company that is a resource business for record companies and other music entities seeking compositions, productions, artists, and related music services. Arthouse has been a part of many chart-topping hits including Cassie's "Me & U" (written and produced by Ryan Leslie), Jim Jones' "We Fly High" (written and produced by Zukhan Bey), Nick Lachey's "What's Left of Me", David Archuleta's hit single "Crush" (written and produced by Eman Kiriakou), Mika's "Grace Kelly" and also OneRepublic's "Apologize" and "Stop and Stare" (all produced by Greg Wells), and Faith Hill's "Lost" (written and produced by Kara DioGuardi and Mitch Allan).

MANNY PACQUIAO The Peoples Champion TALKS ASIA

On CNN's Talk Asia boxing champion Manny Pacquiao talked about his experience of having to sleep in the streets when he was a child. The Pac Man who received a US $12 million pay day for his devastating 2nd round KO victory over against Ricky Hatton this past Saturday May 2nd at the MGM Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada offers an absolute contrast from his humble childhood beginnings while growing up in the Philippines.

Pacquiao who comes from an extremely poor family in Malungon, Philippines started fighting for money at the age of 12 to earn cash to help to by food for his family. He decided to become a serious professional boxer at the age of 13. As a youngster there were times that he slept in the streets an experience that he says has helped him in his adult life as a boxer.

The mayor of Malungon says that in the Philippines Pacquiao is an untied force while noting that when he fights the crime rate drops to zero in the country due to everyone in the nation stopping what they are doing to watch him fight. The rebel fighters in their civil war stop fighting when he fights.

In the past Pacquiao has run for public office in the Philippines and plans to do it again next year. The father of four children said he doesn't intend to run for the President's job but would run for the Philippine Congress only. When asked what his children think about his boxing career he notes "My kids they don't like boxing. They want to go to school and play soccer."

Talk Asia is rerun throughout the week. For fans of boxing or the underdog this is must watch.

WORLD'S UNTOLD STORIES - KILLING FIELDS LONG ROAD TO JUSTICE

Justice and human rights are the focus of CNN's 'Killing Fields: Long Road to Justice' a half hour Worlds Untold Stories news feature which is a must watch. The program reveals Cambodia's problems dealing with responsibility, integrity and the allegations of corruption in the Khmer Rouge trials.

A Killing Fields interrogator Ta Chan who was responsible for the torture of prisoners is exposed on program. He refused to be interviewed for the feature but CNN obtained archive footage from 1996 of him grinning and proudly showing one of his prisons in a province outside of Phnom Penh where he detained those to be tortured and most likely murdered. Chan remains free and has never been punished for his participation in the deaths of 1.7 million Cambodians in the genocide. Neighbors in his village were interviewed and expressed their fear of the man who played in the part of the deaths of some of their family and loved ones.

Mom Va a former Khmer Rouge comrade of Ta Chan lives in his village. She expressed her fear of him while recalling the tortures he inflicted on Cambodian people. The tortures Ta Chan is said to have exacted included water-boarding, electrocution and beatings.

Also interviewed is Norng Chan Pal who was a child prisoner at Toul Sleng. He was saved when the Vietnamese forces took over the prison and chased the Khmer Rouge out of Phnom Penh. When CNN reporter Dan Rivers went to visit Ta Chan he says he saw him from a distance in front of his house but when they arrived he disappeared. His son came out to talk to Rivers and informed the CNN reporter that he and his family did not want to talk about the past. As Rivers pointed out, "Hundreds of men like Ta Chan go free."

The program also shows some footage of an elderly Po Pot who was expressing his anger that Cambodia was like living in Vietnam. The program shows footage of a coffin that was burned supposedly with Po Pots body inside.

The program notes that by the end of the year US $100 million will have been spent on the trail of ONLY five Khmer Rouge leaders. The telecast points out that much of the money is being siphoned off by government officials to the trials Director of the Office of Administration. On camera an employee explained that employees were instructed to give kickbacks in cash between US $30/40 thousand a MONTH to their boss.

A front page story in the weekend issue (Sat/Sun May 2-3) of the Cambodia Daily named that Director as Sean Visoth who denied the charges in an email that he sent to CNN. The Cambodia Daily story notes that he has been absent from the courts since November 2008

The back story not televised but included in the Cambodia Daily piece is that due to the corruption allegations the UN Development Program froze their funding of the trial. The Cambodian government has expressed concern that if more people are tried than the five currently on trial that another civil war could break out. They also expressed their hope the trials will run out of money and be done with.

Trail consultants Andrew Ianuzzi and Robert Pettit also made comments in the feature regarding the corruption allegations. The programs closing credits thanked the Documentation Center of Cambodia for their contributions.

The CNN's 'Killing Fields: Long Road to Justice' program repeats several times throughout the week. The initial telecast was Friday May 1. Check your local listings for the time and date in your area.
