BLACK IS BACK?

It's funny how easily American Idol can be manipulated. When you use reverse physiology in your reports the Idol PTB's (powers that be) seem to gobble it up Pac Man style and do the opposite. This time they played right into our hands. After a decade without having a 100% black contestant win the contest (since Jordan Sparks is half white) it finally came to fruition as Candice Glover took this seasons title. With three of four Idol's judges being black and a black winner this season does that indicate that black is back on Idol? Not hardly.

Glover (born November 22, 1989) is from Beaufort, South Carolina and currently lives in St. Helena Island, South Carolina. She auditioned in Charlotte, singing "Syrup & Honey". The 23 year-old singer has toughed it out after being dropped by Idol in previous seasons. This season she returned and became a comeback kid. She previously auditioned in seasons 9 and 11. She made it to the Las Vegas round during season 11 and was grouped with that season's finalists DeAndre Brackensick and Jessica Sanchez but was eventually eliminated.

This season Glover performed Alicia Keys's "Girl on Fire" in her final solo in the Hollywood rounds. She then performed "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman" at the sudden death round which received high praises from the judges. She performed "Ordinary People" at the semifinals. At Top 6 Week Glover performed "Lovesong" her performance earned high praise and was called the best performance in the shows history. Her musical influences are Christina Aguilera and Jazmine Sullivan.

Throughout the competition Glover's voice was strong possessing the richest texture, fullness, range and body. Her greatest improvement was strengthening her self confidence. Although she is not as marketable as Angie Miller she can have a future that can be enhanced if she loses weight as did Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Hudson and Jordan Sparks. Lose it or not she has talent.

CONTROVERSY REIGNS ON THE VOICE

Red flags went up and alarm bells rang prior to The Voice announcing their pairings from the Top 16 down to the Top 12. Host Carson Daly announced that there were some voting problems with their voting system equipment. The worst news is Daly added that the MYSTERIOUS TELESCOPE Company was in charge of auditing the votes. Ughhhh!!!

A non descript representative of the company dressed in a shabby suite and said nothing added more fuel to the fire of speculation that Telescope is too enigmatic to be real. This is the same secret company that audits American Idol's votes and we all know how devious that has been over the years.

The questions are WHO IS TELESCOPE? WHY ISN'T THERE ANY INFORMATION ABOUT THEM ON THE INTERNET? This is a major blow for the program that up till now seemed to be credible.

Daly informed viewers that due to a voting issue, online or texted votes were not counted for the week. Following the episode, iTunes sales, which were counted in the final voting process, showed that eliminated Team Adam contestant Caroline Glaser appeared to have earned more votes than her teammate Judith Hill, who was credited on the show along with Amber Carrington as having received the most votes. Immediately after the eliminations, the voting issues were addressed with angry posts from the show's fans on Facebook and a Change.org petition with over 4,500 signatures for Caroline Glaser to return to the show. The show's officials have yet to comment on the issue.

A sad Glaser went packing but the reality is that the competition is steep this season and as talented and experienced as the now 30-year-old Hill is she will have stiff competition from 16-year-old Danielle Bradbery. Bradbery has an exceptional voice that is worthy of a record deal NOW! Blake Shelton is her coach and he can't believe how talented she is. Prior to entering the contest she had NO PREVIOUS PERFORMING EXPERIENCE! Her participation was a shock to her as her mother entered her into the competition without her knowing.

Hill was a member of Michael Jackson's This Is It tour. She is prominently seen in the video of the rehearsals of the show that has aired on HBO and this week on the National Geographic channel.

Shelton is position to win his third title as a coach in the four year history of the program. A warning to future contestants is when push came to shove and Shelton had eliminate one of his team he chose to keep his country artists explaining that he was going to go with what he knows best that being country music.

Kris Thomas is another stellar performer with an incredible voice. When he first auditioned for the show he sang a Whitney Houston song in her key. When the judges turned their chairs around they were shocked to find he was a male.
