THE TOUGH GET GOING

The first half of the Game Changers show featured Twitter creator Jack Dorsey who is recognized as a software architect and businessperson. He also was the founder and CEO of Square, a mobile payments company. In 2008, he was named to the MIT Technology Review TR35 as one of the top 35 innovators in the world under the age of 35.

After attending high school in St Louis Missouri he then studied at the Missouri University of Science and Technology before subsequently transferring to New York University, where he first conceived the idea for Twitter.

In Oakland in 2000, Dorsey started his company to dispatch couriers, taxis, and emergency services from the Web. His other projects and ideas at this time included networks of medical devices and a "frictionless service market". In July 2000, building on dispatching and inspired in part by LiveJournal and possibly by AOL Instant Messenger, he had the idea for a Web-based realtime status/short message communication service.

When he first saw implementations of instant messaging, Dorsey had wondered if the software's user status output could be shared among friends easily. He approached Odeo, who at the time happened to be interested in text messaging. Dorsey and Biz Stone decided that SMS text suited the status message idea, and built a prototype of Twitter in about two weeks. The idea attracted many users at Odeo and investment from Evan Williams who had left Google after selling them Pyra Labs and Blogger.

Dorsey, Stone, and Williams co-founded Obvious which then spun off Twitter, Inc. As chief executive officer, Dorsey saw the startup through two rounds of funding by the venture capitalists that backed the company.

Dorsey encountered many problems with his Twitter business. One of the concerns was how to monetize it. He had a weakness running a company and others were hired to do that. Problems continued to surface and Dorsey moved on but later returned.

On October 16, 2008 Williams took over the role of CEO, and Dorsey became chairman of the board. On March 28, 2011, Dorsey returned to Twitter as Executive Chairman.

Game Changers is an original documentary series providing an insider's view on the business and media leaders who climbed to the top and changed our world: Steve Jobs, Jon Stewart, Anna Wintour, Richard Branson, Rupert Murdoch, and more.

This past week the show featured on Craigslist founder Craig Newmark. The program walked the viewer Newmark's creation of the Internet advertising business and how he was confronted with controversy when prostitutes were using his site to sell their services. As he is a creative type he hired someone to run the business while he focused on the creative side.

The now 58-year-old Newmark was born in Morristown, New Jersey and graduated from Morristown High School, in Morristown, New Jersey, in 1971. He is Jewish. Upon graduation he attended college at Case Western Reserve University, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1975 and a Master of Science degree in 1977.

These programs have something to offer. For those in school and aren't sure of what they would like to do with their lives we recommend viewing these programs that can be an inspiration in shaping their future. For others that are interested in the who, what, where and why in the formation of the youthful, energetic, cutting edge, new business innovators and the Internet generation these are MUST WATCH programs.

THEARY SENG - A BOOK & FILM ARE NEXT

Khmer Rouge survivor Theary Seng returned to her country in 2006 to help the families and victims of the genocide that occurred in Cambodia from 1976-79 in which the KR murdered a quarter of the population at that time. Seng was the protagonist in the widely acclaimed documentary Facing Genocide. The non practicing lawyer has been committed to finding justice in the controversial trials of the remaining leaders of the KR in Phnom Penh, Cambodia which is marred with allegations of corruption.

A press release noted that Seng no longer wishes to have any legal association with this ECCC which is mocking the dead, her and other victims and embedding impunity; she cannot do otherwise but to withdraw her status as civil party in Case 002 as well as the appeal of her civil party application in Cases 003 and 004.

Moreover, she denounces this ECCC as a political farce, an irreversible sham of extraordinary perversion in denying justice to victims, exploiting their suffering, soiling the memories of their loved ones and embedding cynicism in an already fragile population living in paranoia, mistrust and distrust.

After a press conference Tuesday November 15th she informed a zealous media as to what her plans would be next to which she responded that she will focus on writing a book and being involved in a film about the experience.
