In the first ever Amazing Race double elimination the reality show Survivor winners and current dating couple Ethan Zohn and Jenna Morasca were the next to last team to arrive at the pit stop and were eliminated. Zohn is currently fighting cancer for survival - Recommended TV Listings

ELIMINATION IS REAL AS IS CANCER

The 19th edition of the USA's Amazing Race had some new twists this season that being a first time ever double elimination after the first leg. It was a two part leg as last weeks episode was a continuation segment. Had there been an elimination the shows oldest competitors and grandparents Bill and Cathy would have been eliminated as they were the last to reach the pit stop in Taipei, Taiwan.

The result was that in the first ever Amazing Race double elimination the reality show Survivor winners and current dating couple Ethan Zohn and Jenna Morasca were the next to last team to arrive at the pit stop and were eliminated.

They were the superstars of the show given that each won $1 million in winning two different seasons of the Survivor reality series prior to their relationship. From the start they didn't let the other competitors know who they were. They feared that the revelation would put them in a position of having a target on their backs to be the most challenging.

Most of the teams had to double back on a task where they had to raise money for an Indonesian orphanage. When they took the money to the orphanage there was a sing that the contestants had to give all of the money they had to the orphanage. The majority gave ONLY the money they raised while they were supposed to EMPTY THEIR POCKETS OF ALL OF THEIR MONEY.

What is disappointing is the back story of Zohn and Morasca. The couple finished fourth during the non elimination first leg of the race.

Zohn was a soccer goalkeeper at Vassar College, and played professionally for the Hawaii Tsunami and Cape Cod Crusaders of the United Soccer Leagues and in Zimbabwe for Highlanders F.C.. He donated some of his winnings from Survivor to starting Grassroot Soccer, an organization whose goal is to "mobilize the global soccer community to combat the AIDS epidemic in Africa". Shortly after winning Survivor Africa, Ethan was hired by ESPN to serve as a sideline reporter for the US National Team's matches in the 2002 FIFA World Cup.

In 2005, Zohn began to co-host the Metro Soccer Report (later renamed MSG Soccer Report) on the MSG Network, a weekly show dedicated to Red Bull New York (formerly MetroStars) of Major League Soccer. As of April 2006, Zohn hosts FC Fox on the Fox Soccer Channel.

For his combined humanitarian efforts to spread HIV education throughout Africa via soccer teams for youth and young adults, Zohn received the Courage of Conscience Award from The Peace Abbey in Sherborn, Massachusetts.

On April 30, 2009, Zohn was diagnosed with a rare type of cancer called CD20-positive Hodgkin's lymphoma. He started chemotherapy in May 2009. On September 14, 2009, he disclosed that after three months of intensive chemotherapy, his cancer returned. He will be undergoing a new treatment, including a stem-cell transplant, to battle the rare form of Hodgkin's disease. Zohn received a "clean CT scan" in late April 2010 and is now in remission.

Zohn began dating fellow Survivor champion Jenna Morasca after her victory on Survivor: The Amazon in 2003. They both live in Manhattan, though not together.

Last season's winners Dr. Nat Strand and fellow female doctor Kat Chang were also a human interest story. Strand 32, trekked across 4 continents, 30 cities and 32,000 miles with type 1 diabetes. She has now joined an organization to help fight the disease.

Gay flight attendants and domestic partners Ron Zeith and Bill Smith were the last team to arrive at the pit stop and eliminated. They previously finished 8th in the non elimination leg.

The race has many of the segments but is being televised in the around the world on the same schedule as in the USA with time being the major difference as Asia is a DAY AHEAD at the same time in the US. This means Sunday in the USA is Monday in Asia given the 12 to 15 hour time advance. Check it out on the AXN Network and please note the schedule below.
