NEW YORK, NEW YORK USA

Monday November 29, 2021

Marquee Matchup:

The current teams with the two best records in the NBA meet when the league-leading Golden State Warriors (18-2, .900) visit the Phoenix Suns (17-3, .850) on Tuesday at 10 p.m. ET on TNT. This matchup marks only the sixth game in NBA history in which both teams enter with a winning percentage of at least .850 (minimum 20 games played per team). The teams’ combined winning percentage of .875 (35-5) is the fifth highest ever for a matchup between opponents that have both played at least 20 games in a season.

Streaks Alive:

Phoenix brings a 16-game winning streak into Tuesday’s matchup with Golden State. With a victory, the Suns would equal the longest winning streak in franchise history at 17 games (which was set in the 2006-07 season). Meanwhile, the Warriors take a seven-game winning streak into the showdown. This will be the first of two games between the Pacific Division rivals in Week 7; the Warriors will host the Suns on Friday on NBA League Pass (10 p.m. ET).

Tight at the Top:

The current top six teams in the Eastern Conference are separated by only two games, and the two teams tied for 10th place trail the conference leader by just four games. With seven straight victories, the Milwaukee Bucks have surged within 1½ games of the East-leading Brooklyn Nets. This week’s matchups between East teams include Nets vs. New York Knicks on Tuesday on TNT (7:30 p.m. ET); Philadelphia 76ers vs. Boston Celtics on Wednesday on NBA TV (7:30 p.m. ET); 76ers vs. Atlanta Hawks on Friday on ESPN (7:30 p.m. ET); and Bucks vs. Miami Heat on Saturday on NBA League Pass (8 p.m. ET).

Feeling Minnesota:

The Minnesota Timberwolves have won six of their last seven games to improve to 10-10. During the 6-1 stretch, center Karl-Anthony Towns and guards D’Angelo Russell and Anthony Edwards are each averaging at least 20 points per game. The Timberwolves rank 10th in the NBA in defensive rating this season; they finished 28th last season. Minnesota’s schedule in Week 7 includes road games against the Washington Wizards on Wednesday (7 p.m. ET) and Brooklyn on Friday (7:30 p.m. ET), both on NBA League Pass.

Milestone Watch:

Warriors guard Stephen Curry needs 37 three-pointers to pass Ray Allen for the most in NBA history. … Nets forward Kevin Durant needs 79 points to pass Allen for 24th place on the all-time scoring list. … Atlanta’s Nate McMillan is one victory shy of becoming the 19th head coach with 700 career wins. … With his next three-pointer, Brooklyn guard James Harden will become the fourth player with 2,500. ... Los Angeles Lakers center DeAndre Jordan needs four rebounds to reach 10,000.
