INDIVIDUALITY LOST

This season many of the contestants have been taking the judges suggestions too seriously and in doing so are trying to please them. In the process they are singing songs that are not compatible with their voice or true style. Many of the contestants who have talent don't know where their true talent is or in what genre of music is.

Some contestants keep saying how they want to show their versatility. The judge's keep commenting they should know who they are and perform from their strength. The problem is some of these contestants don't know their strength due to their inexperience.

Simon Cowell was spot on about not saving MacIntyre since others might be more deserving. Given the previous voting that has placed some of the most talented in the bottom three the most deserving of a save is Allison Iraheta who this past week was NOT in the bottom three for the first time.

Lil Rounds whom we selected as one of the four heavy weight contestants is another choice to be saved but Rounds has a weakness. Though she has a good voice she has an identity crisis and is one of the contestants who is trying to please the judges and doesn't know where the strength of her talent is. She keeps trying different styles.

Allison is more consistent and is always on point when it comes to performing. We feel she has the best voice in the competition. Judge Randy Jackson compares her to AI's season one winner Kelly Clarkson. We feel that Iraheta's voice is better. It's stronger and has more breadth and body. Sometimes she sounds like a modern day Janis Joplin but is better and more versatile without trying.

We have dropped Rounds from the top four due to her weakness in knowing who she is and sticking to her one true style. Given that she is a 24-year-old mother of three children translates into she doesn't have the stage experience of a David Cook or this season's Adam Lambert. Rounds is now in a group of middle weights who also consist of Anoop Desai, Matt Giraud, Kris Allen. Of that group she would be our choice t be saved.

It is doubtful that strong performers Danny Gokey and Lambert will ever be selected to be in the bottom three. They have had consistent performances throughout the competition. The other interesting side about this season's AI story is there are only two female contestants remaining, Rounds and Iraheta. For the final seven and eight this must be a first.

PART 1

NOTES: TRIVIA QUESTION:

Sanjaya Malakar is one of the most infamous of all American Idol contestants. In what place did he finish in what season?

***

Season five contestant Kellie Pickler was a guest performer on the results show last week. Though Pickler didn't win while finishing sixth in season five (2006) which was won by Taylor Hicks she is having a successful career despite not having a great voice. It's her looks and dumb blond persona that is getting her over in the country music field. Pickler recently released her second album and will be touring with Taylor Swift this summer.

***

It's a no brainier that season five winner Carrie Underwood is having a successful career after winning Grammy Awards and selling millions of records.

***

As this week will be the elimination of the seventh position be advised that was the position that Jennifer Hudson was eliminated in season three. Of all of AI contestants she has had the mist success of all AI participants having won the Academy Award and Grammy Award. She is the true example of how the judges get it wrong. Yes they claim that America votes but how do we really know? America is influenced by the judge's comments.

In season three Cowell informed Hudson that she was out of her depth in the competition. Obviously the insensitive treatment towards her has resulted in her NOT RETURNING to perform on the show as other alumni have done.

TRIVIA ANSWER

Malakar finished seventh in season six (2007) the season Jordin Sparks won the title.
