Simon Cowell's offensive statements to Lil Rounds added insult to her injuries. In Rounds case it was the second week in a row that 'she was Cowell's prey as he sank his fangs deeper into her neck while draining her of all of her blood - Recommended TV Listings

DOUBLE ELIMINATION LEAVES FIVE IDOLS

You could see the writing on the wall for the demise of American Idol contestant Lil Rounds who over the past few weeks dropped from a favorite of AI judges to the most criticized. After Rounds opened up the show by performing Chaka Khan's 'I'm, Every Woman,' judge Kara DioGuardi said "You've been every woman but yourself,"

Rounds defended her performance stating that she was not sounding like a Karaoke performer (as the judges previously noted) and that she had fun.

Simon The Executioner Cowell then added, "I'm glad you had fun because I believe that this is the last week that we're going to see you. I absolutely believe that this is your final shot."

In an apparent effort to drive the nail further into Rounds coffin after Kris Allen followed with Donna Summer's She Works Hard For The Money Cowell said to Allen, "Chris that was the complete polar opposite from the first performance (Rounds). It was well thought out. That was a fantastic performance."

Those statements added insult to Rounds injuries. In Rounds case it was the second week in a row that she was Cowell's prey as he sank his fangs deeper into her neck while draining her of all of her blood.

The reality is that when she performed Rounds appeared to be nervous and pushing at the top of her range. We noted that she was thinking too much and was pushing too hard on her upper register (high notes).

Cowell vacillates one week to the next with his petulant comments. Last week he condemned Rounds and made another snide remark after her performance by complimenting Allison Iraheta who followed Rounds by saying that she was the girls' only chance to win the competition

This past week in an about face turnaround statement he told Iraheta "I think you were always going to come into this week as an underdog." He then complimented her performance of Summers Hot Stuff.

Anoop Desai was Cowell's next victim. Desai has a preppy image and good voice. He was the extra choice when they had a runoff for the top 12. He is the first time ever TOP 13th contestant.

As that final performer of the night Desai sang 'Dim All The Lights' which drew praise from the judges. DioGuardi said that the last two weeks were his best performances of the season.

Being the last judge to have a say Cowell put some salt into the sugary pie the other judges had made with their sweet comments and appraisals. "That was a mediocre performance at best. It was a horrible version of that song. Generally that was your worst performance by a mile," Cowell adamantly declared.

Those stinging comments resulted in those three contestants being placed in the bottom three. Rounds was the first called by host Ryan Seacrest and immediately put down the way they kill an injured horse to save them form pain and misery as she was immediately told that she was eliminated. She didn't have to wait until the end of the show as is the norm to be informed of the bad news.

Half way through the results show Desai was the second called to take a seat on one of the bottom three stools. Then as we feared with the wasted save last week of Matt Giraud Iraheta was then informed that she was in the bottom three. The good new is she was saved but Desai not.

Desai has one of the best voices in the competition. In our opinion his preppy image hurt him but his voice was worthy of a higher finish and more respect from Cowell. Desai is very intelligent complimented by a amiable personality. With his college education from the University of North Carolina he will do well in life but perhaps not in the entertainment industry. Quite frankly the last preppy image success that we can relate to is Pat Boone… and that was a HALF CENTURY AGO.
