PIRATE MASTER REVENGE

CNN founder Ted Turner said and wrote a book titled LEAD FOLLOW or GET OUT OF THE WAY. Never could that be more appropriate than for two reality television shows On The Lot and Pirate Master.

Human behavior gets its test on the PIRATE MASTER reality show when a group of pirates search for treasure.

Each week the crew is split into two teams red and black and go into the jungle to search for an unspecified amount of gold. Last week the bounty was a meager $5,000 but there was also a twist.

A ROYAL PARDON was introduced into the show. That meant the new captain Louie had the pardon to be sold to a crewmember who could use it to be pardoned if they were one of the three nominated to be cut adrift and off the show. The crew submitted secret bids and the winner was disclosed prior to the decision was made who would be eliminated.

The captain is the head of the black team. If his team doesn't find the treasure the crew of the winning team (red) then selects a new captain. The captain LEADS the crew and they FOLLOW. If he doesn't like someone he GETS HIM OR HER OUT OF THE WAY by nominating him or her for elimination.

The captain then selects two new officers and they share the elaborate captains quarters and the excellent food that goes with it while the crew share dormitory quarters and eat inferior food.

The captain decides how he will split the treasure. Each week the amount differs and has been US $40,000; $45,000; $35,000 and $5,000.

The original captain Joe Don took 50% of the treasure as he is entitled by the shows captain's code. He then gave his two officers 25% to split and the remaining was split among the crew. This caused the crew to be angry and deemed not fair. It led to Joe Don's downfall.

When his team lost Azmyth replaced him. Azmyth split the treasure evenly among the crew. When his team lost the new captain was Louie who also split the treasure evenly.

But beyond that Louie swore revenge on Joe Don for taking 50% of the treasure and for nominating Louie's friend and former NFL football star Christian Okoye for elimination If it's resentment you're looking for…. Louie has it.

Joe Don knowing that Louie was after him bought the pardon for $7,000. Since he took most of the treasure very few of the other crew members had more than $7,000 to outbid him.

Joe Don was nominated for expulsion by Louie and his officers but didn't need it since he received only the second highest number of eviction votes. The pardon used or not must change hands and is sold for the next episode. That resulted in Joe Don spending $7,000 that he didn't need to spend.

Louie did obtain some revenge on Joe Don by also nominating Joe Don's closest friend Cheryl who was voted off the ship. Her being an assistant district attorney didn't help her when she pleaded her case to the crew to stay on.

THE CONTENDER FINAL

The rerun of the Contender series 2 is about to end with the FINAL EPISODE scheduled for Tuesday on AXN. A semifinal doubleheader will be televised tomorrow Monday August 6.

This series has been rerun several times on AXN and each time we raise the question who is that young, tough street talking bald headed trainer/coach Jeremy Williams?

Williams is also a boxer in the heavyweight division who has had 47 fights winning 41 with 35 knockouts and 5 losses. The 34-year-old has the nickname Half-Man, Half-Amazing.

Williams was born August 19, 1972, in Fort Dodge, Iowa and is mixed martial artist. As an amateur boxer, he was the 1989 and 1990 United States amateur Light Heavyweight champion, and is a member of the Golden Gloves hall of fame. His record was 168-4. He lost his temper when he dropped decisions to Montell Griffin in the Olympic qualifiers 1992. He has won the WBC Continental Americas Heavyweight Title twice.

Williams is known as a knockout artist, with two of his 35 knockouts coming before 30 seconds of the first round. He KOed Arthur Weathers in 10 seconds on March 19, 1996 (the fastest KO in California boxing history) and KOed Louis Monaco 28 seconds into their second meeting on March 17, 2002 (Williams had knocked Monaco out in 3 rounds 6 years earlier).

Williams always seemed to be on the cusp of attaining greatness, but his only challenge was for a minor title. That challenge was for the lightly regarded IBC heavyweight crown. In that bout Williams lost via tko to Denmark's Brian Nielsen.

While on the rise as a young pro, Williams lost his first fight via majority decision to Larry Donald. After the loss to Donald, Williams reeled off another streak of knockouts; only to get KO'd by Henry Akinwande. Williams again began a new streak of KO victories until he again was defeated by decision by perennial spoiler Maurice Harris.

Williams last run towards a title shot ended when he went up against power punching Sam Peter, who ended Williams night, and career, quickly with a vicious KO in the second round. In 2003, he upset heavyweight prospect Andre Purlette by decision. Williams has been a trainer/coach on both Contender series.

ON THE LOT Down to Final 5

ON THE LOT pits film directors in competition to win a production deal worth US $1 million for DreamWorks films and a chance to work with famed film producer/director and part owner of DreamWorks Steven Spielberg.

Of the 18 contestants that started the show it's down to crunch time for the five that remain with one to be eliminated this week via viewer voting. The entrants ranged in age from 23 to 43 with 23-year-old Zach Lipovsky being the youngest.

Lipovsky who hails from Vancouver, BC, Canada has been featured in the promotions of the show prior to the program going on air. But the question is why is he entered the contest?

"Because this could lead to a job that will finally allow me to move out of my mom's house," he said.

For the young filmmaker it didn't take long for him to figure out what the wanted to do and how he got involved in making movies.

"I started making movies in elementary school for fun. That led to making movies in high school for easy grades. Now I'm making movies because, if I don't get these ideas out of my head, I will explode... and that is one mess you don't want to clean up."

Zach enjoys working with special effects and so for his expertise is paying off but the On The Lot contest is not about special effects.

Every week the contestants take a different theme and then in part have to come up with an idea, script, frame the pictures and then LEADING and directing a film crew and actors and getting them to FOLLOW instructions to achieve a winning result.

As the saying goes you are what you eat and in the film industry that can translate into what films influenced a person to get involved in the film making business.

For Lipovsky his favorite films are: City of God, Pulp Fiction, Back to the Future, Forest Gump, Braveheart, The Matrix, Adaptation, Pleasantville, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Memento, Indiana Jones, Requiem for a Dream, Minority Report, Jurassic Park, The Big Labowski, Stranger then Fiction, Jumanji, Coffee and Cigarettes, Ghostbusters, Gladiator, Monty Python and the Holy Grail. His favorite directors are Spielberg, Gondry, Zemeckis and the Coen Brothers Will Lipovsky move on to the next round or be eliminated?
