CNN continues to amaze with their deception and misinformation in presenting the news in their sensationalized theatrical manner. They persist in deceiving the public with what they present as news and what they ignore. They avoid criticizing the Cambodian government's abuse and murder of its citizens preferring to play the political game in accepting advertising money from Cambodia's Ministry of Tourism. With all of their faults CNN got one thing right their documentary of CNN's founder Ted Turner - INSIDE THE AMERICAN MOB is a MUST WATCH on the National Geographic channel - Recommended TV Listings

TED TURNER - THE MAVERICK

A must see is a documentary about Ted Turner the founder of CNN. The twist is it is hosted by Wolf Blitzer who surprisingly didn't rant on about Israel or ask Turner what was his position on Israel. Perhaps this is a sign of respect as it was Turner who unfortunately hired Blitzer when CNN was in its infancy. This documentary is not about Israel or Blitzer's speculative opinions but about Turner.

(Forgive me lord for what I'm about to say but) for CNN and Blitzer this was this is a quality show and a must see. The doc clearly reveals what the genius Turner experienced in his business and private life. It truly captured the feelings that Turner felt from being an abused son of an alcoholic, inventing and building CNN, his sale to Time Warner and his marriage to Jane Fonda. In this doc CNN nailed it.

The doc is so spot on it was astonishing to watch as I learned some things that I didn't know. I've reported on Turner since my beginning in the cable television business in 1979 when his entry to cable TV was with his only television company WTBS in Atlanta. What I know that wasn't revealed in the doc is that was the turning point of the cable industry was when Turner purchased a transponder for only $1 to televise his small local station WTBS on a national level.

His next step in a basically virgin cable TV business was to announce that he would launch a 24 hours news channel the following year. At that time he was considered insane but he proved to be a genius. This is where this documentary picks up Turner's story after revealing his experiences as an abused child by his overly demanding father to taking over his fathers billboard advertising company after his death.

The documentary focuses in on how Turner's efforts of trying to please his father drove him on to be the success that he became. The lighthearted side of the doc is Turners 10-year marriage to actress Jane Fonda and how she was so instrumental in being the support system in his drive for success during their time together.

This was news to me as I was traveling extensively around Asia at the time and wasn't up to speed on Turners evolution. During the mid 80's I recall him ranting on about Fonda during one of his speeches at a cable industry trade show in Anaheim, California when he referred to her as Hanoi Jane. As it turned out it was stealth like move to get her attention. All in all this is the best insight to Ted Turners business and personal life that includes comments from his now adult children and Larry King that I have ever seen. This production is a much needed plus for CNN and a job well done making this a MUST SEE.

CNN uses MIRA SORVINO - CHILD SEX TRAFFICKING

On December 14 in the East Asian time zone CNN will televise an old worthless worn out subject regarding child sex trafficking in Cambodia hosted by actress Mira Sorvino. Sorvino has a history on the subject when she stared in the series and film titled Human Trafficking that aired in Asia in 2008.

What is is so annoying is that CNN exploits this subject from time to time not that it will do anything about eliminating the problem but it serves to bolster TV ratings and promote CNN's do good profile. Basically it's a sensationalized television show.

Our previous report on their involvement in the subject was when they sponsored who we referred to as the Rhinestone Rambo who came to Cambodia to go undercover to film Cambodia's child sex industry and left running scared back to America fearing for his life when he came up with nothing and his cover was blown. We later found that he was razing money at the Beverly Hills Hotel for his next travel adventure.

The reality is that CNN prostitutes their brand as they fail to cover the real news of Cambodia when people are jailed or murdered trying to save their homes from being demolished. A 14-year-old girl was murdered when she tried to defend her home and not one person has been held responsible. Photos show police, military and security guards in the attacks. Politicians and their relatives are involved in the land grabbing and relocation or elimination of Cambodian citizens who are left with no shelter and to fend for themselves.

CNN failed to cover the millionaire Russian pedophile Alexander Trofimov's child sex scandal story. Trofimov was suspected to have been protected by politicians that accepted bribes. CNN also failed to cover the murder of activist Chut Whuty who was murdered when he was trying to protect illegal logging. They failed to cover the back story of that incident as two journalists that accompanied Whuty were detained by police and questioned overnight. Following their release from the traumatic experience prompted the Canadian reporter that worked for a Cambodian English language publication to immediately leave Cambodia and return to Canada.

CNN fails to report the real news in Cambodia but continues to exploit a subject that is a money maker for them and NGO's that can't resolve the child sex problem. CNN are such bottom feeders that they play the political game in accepting advertising money from Cambodia's Ministry of Tourism to air ads to promote Cambodia's tourism. Once again CNN proves to be the slime of the news business as they are in the money taking political business.

What's adds more fuel to the fire regarding CNN's art of deception is they are giving the political uprising in Thailand to oust Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra major lead story extensive coverage. Could the reason be that at this time Thailand is not giving CNN tourism ad money but Cambodia is?

Is this a case of CNN not wanting to $#!t where they eat so they could continue receiving advertising money rather than report the real Cambodian news? GO FIGURE!

INSIDE THE AMERICAN MOB on NAT GEO

For those interested in what went on during the days that the American Mafia was running wild in the US the National Geographic channel is airing a six part series in East Asia titled Inside the American Mob. The first two episodes featured former mob boss turned Christian Michael Franzese relating his experience being the son of a mob boss and then he became involved as a made member of the mob.

The alleged requirements to become "made" - fully initiated - in a La Cosa Nostra family are that you're a full-blooded Italian on both sides - specifically Sicilian, if they're being strict - that you're sponsored by made members of that family, and that you commit a murder for the family.

This is called "making your bones." The only other way to become made is through being an "earner" - making large amounts of money for the family. These two episodes also featured FBI agent Joe Pistone aka Donnie Brasco who was instrumental in breaking up the mob by going undercover. Pistone's historical infiltration of the mob as Donnie Brasco was the topic of a 1997 movie starring Johnny Depp (as Joe Pistone) and Al Pacino (as "Lefty" Ruggiero).

This week the focus is on the Philadelphia mob and how Mafia gang families went to war to decide who was going to run crime rackets in the city following the murder of then mob boss Angelo Bruno. This is MUST WATCH.
