IDOL JUDGES DRIVE CONTESTANTS CRAZY

When it comes to judging this season's American idol judges are the shows worst of our five seasons of coverage. They've been giving such confusing suggestions and conflicting, critiques to the mostly young inexperienced contestants that it results in the judges are doing more harm than good. It all comes down to the over critiquing equates to paralysis by analysis resulting in some cases scaring contestants but most important not knowing what to do.

On the results show host Ryan Seacrest asked contestant Di Di Benami her thoughts about the judge's comments and she replied, "It caused confusion. I not sure of what it is that you want." as she peered straight in their eyes.

Her sentiments applied to all of those selected for the bottom three yesterday as Paige Miles and Tim Urban were in it for the second week in a row and joined by 16-year-old Katie Stevens. All have received conflicting comments by the judges and apparently the not spot on judges comments are driving the contestants crazy. In the process the judges are giving the impression that they don't know what they're talking about.

Earlier in the season the AI judges boasted that this was the girl's year since the females were the most talented of the then top 24 contestants. When it reached the top 12 there were six girls and six boys after eliminating two boys and two girls each week in the top 24, 20 and 16 result shows.

This week prior to Paige Miles performance host Ryan Seacrest asked her how the atmosphere was (with the contestants) in preparation for this weeks show? It was a key question since the person eliminated would not go on the summer tour and miss out on earning a lot of money and show experience.

Miles replied, "The atmosphere has changed quite a bit, they're (the other contestants) are more quite, more serious. A lot of strange things are going on." Seacrest added that they were becoming more competitive.

That being the case may have added to the stress of the competition for Miles as well as dealing with being sick with laryngitis as her performance was way off the mark and the judges crucified her for it.

Brother man judge Randy Jackson said, "That was honestly terrible."

Ellen Degeneres complimented Paige on her hair style and the way she looked. She then passed the critique of her singing performance over to Kara DioGuardi and Simon Cowell.

DioGuardi said, "It was the worst vocal that I've ever heard from you and possibly for the season."

Cowell's negative critique was, "It was like there were five of you and it got worse as it went along."

Last week Lacey Brown was eliminated and this week it was Miles' time to go and miss out on the top 10 contestants who now consist of only four girls and six boys who will tour and make money this summer.

The situation was that of adding insult to injury. From the beginning of the competition Miles was touted as being one of the best of the girl contestants as Simon Cowell said, "I think that out of all of the girls that you have the best voice."

Within a week there was a major change in the judge's criticism of Miles. Last week Miles had a decent performance but you could see her pain and hear that she was sick. The judges did give her credit for singing as well as she did under the circumstances. Her ill health apparently carried over to this week when she sang 'Against All Odds' by Phil Collins and you tell that she continued to have problems with her voice which apparently has not recovered.

The judges showed no mercy this time around as they ripped her apart in telling her how terrible she was and never gave her any credit as they did the week before of doing her best while being sick. Miles was off key but the viciousness of their comments was unwarranted particularly since from the beginning of the tryouts the judges repeatedly stated that she has one of the best voices in the competition.

For the first time since they have used the save rule which the judges can save a talent on the results show to continue in the competition after they sing a song for survival. Before Miles had a chance to sing Seacrest asked Cowell, "Simon are there some words of encouragement to give to Paige?"

Cowell bluntly told her, "Paige regardless of what you sing we're not going to put you through." Cowell then made a dismissive comment that was supposed to be his words of encouragement, "Paige you generally had a great voice." (No $#!t sandman she also has laryngitis!)

For her last song Miles sang the Rolling Stones "Its All Right Now," a song she sang in the previous top 12 performance show. The question is was that her way of saying to the judges she forgives them for being so cruel and nasty to her. The end result is the judges won't have her to kick around anymore to confuse and play with her head. But Miles isn't the only contestant to be overly scrutinized and given conflicting information.

After it was suggested by this weeks mentor Miley Cyrus to contestant Andrew Garcia not to perform playing with his guitar after his performance judge Kara DioGuardi said, "The motions in your hands it's like someone is moving you like a puppet."

Garcia was the seventh contestant to perform. DioGuardi made her statement after she suggested to Crystal Bowersox, "Would you ever consider putting that guitar down (and perform without it)?"

The problem was DioGuardi's negative comment to Garcia was after Bowersox performed just two slots before him in the fifth position. To his credit after DioGuardi's suggestion to Bowersox Cowell said, "I wouldn't change a thing."

LACEY BROWN ON LETTERMAN

Last week Idol eliminated Lacey Brown but good things are happening for the Texan. She made a guest appearance on the David Letterman show this week. Brown showed that she can think on her feet when Letterman told her that since she was eliminated her career was over. She responded, "No, it's just beginning."

Letterman asked her what the prize money was for the winner of the contest (aside from a recording contract). Brown joked that since she was only a # 12 finisher that she wasn't privy to that information. He then asked what she won for being eliminated in the number twelve spot to which she replied, "An appearance on the David Letterman show."

Ryan Seacrest Tweets Too Much

Lacey Brown's elimination stirred up controversy after Ryan Seacrest tweeted the results. This caused anger among the fans of the show and as a result, the show had "the smallest audience among 18-49 year-olds for a regularly scheduled in-season episode in 'Idol' history"
