BIG BRO GOING THROUGH THEM CHANGES

Other than their time schedule being changed (see below) th e Pinoy Celebrity Big Brother Edition 2 house was rocked with shocking news when Big Bro told host Toni Gonzaga that she was to remain in the house and be a housemate. Gonzaga's initial reaction was that of horror and shock. She almost lost the plot as she circled the room talking to herself while contemplating her new not so glamorous role. Big Bro tried to calm her down after which Gonzaga called her mommy for morale support and to advise her of the situation. It was a bitter pill to swallow but Gonzaga eventually swallowed it.

Big Bro did the same host to housemate role change earlier in the series to the shows other former co-host Mariel Rodriguez who reacted the same way. Big Bro wanted Mariel to be an in house spy.

This time the BIG BRO MO (Master Operator) wanted Gonzaga to bond more with Rodriguez. For those who are familiar with the two ladies work Rodriguez is a bundle of energy that expresses herself in a vociferous manner. Since she has been in the house she has toned down a bit.

Gonzaga has a strong take charge dominate personality. When the two work together there is a tendency for one to step on (interrupt) each other.

Gonzaga had her first meal in the in house jail. When she started mixing with the group she continued to dominate and instruct the group in a professional way. As the week went on she started to blend in with the housemates by taking more of a reserved posture. After a five-day housemate stint she returned to her hosting duties that had been filled in by Bianca Gonzalez.

Beauty contest winner Riza who says she's a virgin won a bicycle cart racing contest to become the BIG BRO HOH (Head Of Household) for the week. The honor entitles her to be exempt from being nominated for eviction this week and she also can select a housemate for eviction. She chose Gaby with whom she claims that she is not bonding with as well as the she is with the other housemates. Gaby is a Asian Formula 3 circuit racecar driver who was permitted to leave the house for a 24-hour period to compete in a race that she won. On a Philippine celebrity news show it was revealed that the Canadian/Philippine beauty Riza posed for a men's magazine.

Zara, another beauty queen winner, was surprisingly evicted from the house. Problem child Baron and his martial arts champion brother Donald were the prime candidates for eviction. They are in a 2-1 situation where if one is nominated the other is as well. Baron has a drinking and cigarette smoking problem as well as being difficult when it comes to going along with the program. They were nominated for eviction for the second week in a row.

One advantage with this show is there are daily reports on the goings on in the house on their web site. Much of what is written is not televised. Thus far three ladies have been evicted and zero men.

Though the show has a tendency to contain too many elements it remains a show to see for laughs, understanding another culture and entertainment.

AMAZING RACE ASIA

This past week Amazing Race Asia premiered their contestants for this seasons show. One of the contestants said the contestants on last season's show were boring. With a setup like that what can we expect from this group?

Included in this group is a deaf team whom producer Michael McKay says they may have an advantage since they use sign language and could communicate better from a distance whereas one can't be heard. One of the contestants from the Philippines is the editor of the FM men's magazine. Two of the contestants are sisters a first time for the show said McKay. One of the girls manages her brother who is a recording artist.

The first show is scheduled to air November 22 at 9 pm in Singapore/Hong Kong and 8 pm Cambodia/Thailand time zones on the AXN Network

Garth Brooks on Great American Country Television Network

Garth Brooks, the most successful solo recording artist in music history, retired from active touring in 2001 to spend time with his family. He said at the time he would not resume touring until his youngest daughter, now 11, graduated high school. While Garth Brooks acknowledges a desire to return to the stage, he told GAC’s Lorianne Crook that he has never once regretted his decision to back away. He flashed a dazzling smile as he talked of his love for wife Trisha Yearwood, yet, he said, he stays in daily contact with former wife Sandy, the mother of his three daughters.

“If I never get to play music again, hey, I’m a father and I am fine with that,” Garth Brooks said.

On Nov. 6, Brooks will release The Ultimate Hits, a three-disc set containing 30 classics, three new songs and a bonus track on two audio CDs. The set also includes a DVD with 33 videos including never-before seen footage.

GAC will premiere a 60-minute music special GARTH BROOKS: The Ultimate Hits, on Nov. 18 (8 p.m. ET). The program documents the story behind production of the three-disc set. As The Home of Garth Brooks, GAC offered viewers the exclusive television premiere of Garth Brooks’ new video, “More Than A Memory,” the initial step in GAC’s two-month campaign to showcase the music, videos and life of the fastest-selling artist in country music history.

TIME SHITS AFFECT TV SCHEDULES

Time shifts in various parts of the world have affected TV schedules. In Southeast Asia time zones vary in the region. Hong Kong and Singapore are different than in Cambodia, Thailand and Malaysia.

The Philippines ABS-CBN television network has had several schedule changes during the past two weeks. Most notably the Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Edition 2 was moved from a 3:30 pm start time to 5:05 Monday through Friday.

The shows 10:05 start time changed to 7:25 pm. It is not clear why the changes. The network often changes start times at the last minute without any explanation. Some of the shows scheduled for a 5:05 pm start time have aired as last as 5:40pm.

Some shows emanating from the US differentiate due to the shift from daylight savings time to standard time. The Larry King show was moved from a 4 pm start time to 5 pm in the Cambodia/Thailand time zone.

DAY LIGHT SAVINGS TIME

Starting this year daylight time began in the United States on the second Sunday in March and ends on the first Sunday in November.

On the second Sunday in March, clocks are set ahead one hour at 2:00 a.m. local standard time, which becomes 3:00 a.m. local daylight time.

On the first Sunday in November, clocks are set back one hour at 2:00 a.m. local daylight time, which becomes 1:00 a.m. local standard time. These dates were established by the Energy Policy Act of 2005, Pub. L. no. 109-58, 119 Start 594 (2005).

Not all places in the U.S. observe daylight time. In particular, Hawaii and most of Arizona do not use it. Indiana adopted its use beginning in 2006.

* In 2006, daylight time begins on April 2 and ends on October 29.

* In 2007, daylight time begins on March 11 and ends on November 4. [New law goes into effect.]

* In 2008, daylight time begins on March 9 and ends on November 2.

Many other countries observe some form of "summer time", but they do not necessarily change their clocks on the same dates as the U.S.

Daylight time and time zones in the U.S. are defined in the U.S. Code, Title 15, Chapter 6, Subchapter IX - Standard Time. History of Daylight Time in the U.S.

Although standard time in time zones was instituted in the U.S. and Canada by the railroads in 1883, it was not established in U.S. law until the Act of March 19, 1918, sometimes called the Standard Time Act. The act also established daylight saving time, a contentious idea then.

Daylight saving time was repealed in 1919, but standard time in time zones remained in law. Daylight time became a local matter. It was reestablished nationally early in World War II, and was continuously observed from 9 February 1942 to 30 September 1945.

After the war its use varied among states and localities. The Uniform Time Act of 1966 provided standardization in the dates of beginning and end of daylight time in the U.S. but allowed for local exemptions from its observance. The act provided that daylight time begin on the last Sunday in April and end on the last Sunday in October, with the changeover to occur at 2 a.m. local time.

During the "energy crisis" years the US Congress enacted earlier starting dates for daylight time. In 1974, daylight time began on 6 January and in 1975 it began on 23 February. After those two years the starting date reverted back to the last Sunday in April. In 1986, a law was passed that shifted the starting date of daylight time to the first Sunday in April, beginning in 1987. The ending date of daylight time was not subject to such changes, and remained the last Sunday in October.

The Energy Policy Act of 2005 changed both the starting and ending dates. Beginning in 2007, daylight time starts on the second Sunday in March and ends on the first Sunday in November.
