BEAUTY IS ONLY SKIN DEEP BUT CAN THEY RACE?

The Amazing Race is back again on the AXN channel in the Pacific Rim region. The original episode airs Monday nights with a few repeats throughout the week. The best bet is to check the AXN website for the time in your area.

The race was filmed between June 9, 2013 (2013-06-09) through July 2, 2013 and visited 4 Continents, 9 Countries and traveled 35,000 miles (56,000 km)

The new season is dominated with several celebrity types which could prove to be an interesting chemistry of contestants. Top celebs include former Houston Texans players Chester Pitts and Ephraim Salaam, the wives of baseball players Chris Getz of the Kansas City Royals and David DeJesus of the Tampa Bay Rays, a pair of LA Kings Ice Crew maintenance workers, former Miss Rhode Island USA beauty queen Amy Diaz, former Minor League Baseball player and sports agent Tim Sweeney, and a pair of theater performers from the stage comedy The Queen of Bingo.

Pitts and Salaam are at the head of the class when it comes to being vocal. Their competitive spirit helped them finish 4th in the 1st leg of the race that aired last week. They could win it all but if not should finish in the top 3 should there be no mishaps i.e. injures. Both are intelligent and go getters. They are reminiscent of the two Harlem Globetrotters teammates that competed in race 15.

Beauty is added to this race as former beauty queen Diaz is in it to win it with her boyfriend Jason Case. Amy brags about her smarts in graduating high school at the age of 16, followed by college and two Masters Degrees. The question is does she have the brawn to make a strong showing in the race. The couple finished 8th in the 1st leg. Diaz was a co-host of "Social Women", Rhode Island's talk-show and entertainment program which featured three passionate women with diverse backgrounds, life experiences, and dynamic personalities who explored the essential issues of today.

The former Miss Earth United States 2009, Miss Rhode Island USA 2008 and Miss Rhode Island Teen USA 2001, is a proud 2001 graduate of Classical High School. At the age of 19, Amy graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Communication with a Minor in Psychology from Barry University. In May of 2007 at 22 years old, Amy completed dual Master degrees in Business Administration and Sport Management. Throughout her studies at Barry University, Amy always earned academic honors and was a nationally recognized student leader.

Diaz is a nationally recognized President and Founding Sister of the Iota Theta Chapter of Phi Sigma Sigma Sorority and was the recipient of several leadership awards including: Graduate Assistant of the Year, Greek Organization President of the Year, Residential Life Hall Staff of the Year, and National Broadcasting Society Outstanding Member of the Year.

Two more beauty ladies referred to as Ice Crew for the NHL's LA Kings are competing for the $1 million prize are Allison "Ally" Mello and Ashley Covert. What they do is a mystery to me as having covered the Kings for 10 seasons there was no female ice crew just a big Zamboni machine shaving the ice smooth between periods. Given their physical jobs and athleticism they could be top contenders. Smarts will be the main factor in their success or not. They LA Kings duo finished 6th in the 1st leg of the race.

The other beauty attractions are Baseball Wives Nicole Getz and Kim DeJesus. DeJesus' husband David is a member of the Tampa Bay Rays who are currently involved in a best of five game wild card MLB (Major League Baseball) playoff series. They were strong competitors in the 1st leg finishing 5th. Only the strong and smart survive as demonstrated last season (22) when the leading father and son team had to quit the race when the father tore his ACL. This season looks like a winner for a viewers choice.

THE VOICE IS ON!!!

The Voice is back for season 5 on the AXN channel. Initial episodes are televised Sunday evenings with repeats throughout the week. Auditions are the name of the current game. Christina Aguilera and Ce Lo Green have returned to their judge/coach positions. Aguilera has lost a lot of weight and that is a good thing. Her salty attitude remains the same and that is a bad thing.

BILLY THE EXTERMINATOR - TIME SHIFT

In some areas the BIO channel has shifted Billy The Exterminator back one hour for its morning airing. Formerly in the 10 AM time slot it is now airing at 11 AM in the Thailand/Cambodia region. The AM telecast is a repeat of the previous day's first showing of an episode. The real deal is that in the same country times may vary as cable companies have the ability to download the sow from the satellite and telecast it any time they wish.
