During Roman Abramovich's eight years of ownership of Chelsea FC he has now had seven managers. Three have won titles and have been terminated thus a title may keep a manager around for a little while but other than Mourinho a two year stint is the max if the Champions League title isn't realized just ask Carlo Ancelotti

RAMO'S CHOPPING BLOCK

Now that we're somewhat over the FIFA bribery scandals it's time to play football. The focus this season will be on Chelsea and their new manager André Villas-Boas making him the seventh manager under owner Roman Abramovich since he purchased the club on June 2003. Since the takeover the club have won eight major trophies - the Premier League 3 times, the FA Cup 3 times and the League Cup twice - making them the second most successful English team in the last seven years, after Manchester United.

At 33-years of age he's touted to be the next Mourinho aka The Special One. If that is true only time will tell how long it will take for the new piece of meat to get the Guillotine from Chelsea's owner Roman (aka RAMO) Abramovich.

By winning the UEFA Europa League on 18 May 2011, he is the youngest manager ever to win a European competition, at 33 years and 213 days of age.

The Portage is a winner. Among his accomplishment with Porto are:

# The club record for the most matches across all competitions unbeaten (36). This record was previously held by José Mourinho at 33 matches. Part of this streak was completed by the previous coach of FC Porto, Jesualdo Ferreira.

# The most wins in Europe in one season by a Portuguese club (14)

# The most points in a 30-game Portuguese league season (84)

# The highest number of consecutive wins in the Portuguese league (16)

# The biggest margin over the second placed team in the league (21)

# The only team to win the Portuguese league without being beaten aside from Benfica in 1972/73.

# On 3 April 2011, Villas-Boas won his first Primeira Liga, five rounds before the end, by defeating second-place Benfica 2-1 away at the Estádio da Luz in Lisbon, becoming the third youngest coach to win it, only behind Mihály Sistka (1938-39) and Juca (1961-62). It is the second time that Porto won the Portuguese league by beating its rival at its home soil, the first time being 71 years ago, in the 1939-40 season when Porto clinched the title by defeating Benfica at the Estádio das Amoreiras.

# On 22 May 2011, Villas-Boas won the Treble by winning the Portuguese Cup, equalizing Tomislav Ivic (when he won 4 titles for Porto in 1987/88), and making Porto the first (and only) European team to win a treble twice (Portuguese League, Portuguese Cup and UEFA Cup/UEFA Europa League).

Though Villas-Boas is young he got an early start. He achieved his UEFA C coaching license as a minor at the age of 17 in Scotland. He then had a short stint as head coach of the British Virgin Islands national team at the age of 21, before he moved onto a career as an assistant under the management of José Mourinho at Porto. As Mourinho moved clubs to Chelsea and International, Villas-Boas followed suit.

His pedigree is good but now he will be working for the assassin in Ramo who will stand for nothing less than a Championships League title a fete that Chelsea has never accomplished.

During Abramovich's eight years of ownership of the club with his seven managers three have won titles and have been terminated thus a title may keep a manager around for a little while but other than Mourinho a two year stint is the max if the Championship title isn't realized just ask Carlo Ancelotti.

Mourinho holds the record with a three year stint (2004-2007). He was the most successful of the not so magnificent seven managers in winning six titles 2 Premier Leagues, 2 League Cups, FA Cup and the Community Shield.

Ancelotti ranks second with three titles during his two year stint (2009-2011) leading the squad to Premier League, FA Cup, Community Shield titles. This season he won zero and was terminated.

Guus Hiddink had a short stay as an interim manager in 2009. He led the team to the FA Cup title. Gone but forgotten in the Chelsea tradition of winning were the losers being Claudio Ranieri, Luiz Felipe Scolari, Avram Grant that stayed only a little while as a result of not winning.

But hey it's a new day in Chelsea football and as the Eagles sang there's a new kid in town. The question is… FOR HOW LONG.
