HOW YOU USE IT MAKES A DIFFERENCE

This month we've been trying something new resulting in making some changes. Most notably we have increased the font size given many of the stories that continue to be popular were published prior to the web being searched primarily with telephones. Reports have noted that 75% of those accessing the Internet are now using phones. Our font increase will continue.

Also since many of our most popular stories were published 15 to 25 years ago we will update the most popular pages by installing larger fonts.

This month we are researching splitting the NR TOP 10 in two sections Part 1 & 2. We continue to evaluate our options following the results on this issue.

Number five this month is a repeater namely, ALL TIME NBA 1st TEAM - BREAKING IT DOWN. This has been one of our most popular reads for the past year. The thrust of this story is about how the NBA implanted its roots during the 1950's.

Bill Russell who Red Auerbach coached with the Boston Celtics was acquired in a trade with the then St Louis Hawks (now Atlanta). The Celtics gave up two highly productive white players, Cliff Hagen and Ed MacCauley in the 1956 NBA draft.

One has to take into consideration how racist the United States was at that time and remains so BUT... Auerbach took a bold chance with the Russell acquisition. Boston fans showed their appreciation by breaking into Russell's home and defecating in his bed. Is that a case of� ONLY IN AMERICA?

This period was that foundation that has resulted in the shift of demographics the league has today. During the early 50's hardly any team had more than one black player if any at all. In recent seasons the statistics have changed drastically with 75% of the players in the league being black or a person of color.

The 4th ranked story is a fast mover specially; SPORTS ARE GOING THROUGH SOME CHANGES. We observed the topsy turvy world of international football and the numerous changes that have been made this season.

At the time of the writing Thomas Tuchel was rumored to return to International Football and take over the Bayren Munich club. We questioned if it was another no sense move? Was it a Steven Spielberg epic? The result was it happened and Munich won the league title.

Also, Christiano Ronaldo improved his numbers in Saudi Arabia but we questioned if he was on the way out of big-time competition?

Also mentioned in that article we note that noting that Japan's Shohei Ohtani continues to display his talents. The question arises is his American MLB club the Los Angeles Angels wise enough to pay for his value?

Muhammad ALI THE GREATEST IS 70 was a shocker taking the 3rd spot on the charts. We noted how the Louisville Lip Hit Hard with his Mouth & His Hands. He was despised in his own country for his refusal to serve in the US military but was adored abroad. He stuck to his principals and eventually won over his detractors. His bold manner was copied giving strength to the weak and enticed many to follow in his footsteps in attempting to strive to be THE GREATEST.

This column has NEVER made it to the NR TOP 10. Why it surfaced 11 years after being published is a mystery.

"Dr. Beat" - Free Health Care for Cambodian Children notched the 2nd spot on the charts. We have written three articles of the famed Dr. Beat Richner and this was the original which was published in 2002.

At the time we pointed out that in 1992 Richner started with 12 expatriate and 62 Cambodian staff. The then three hospitals (now four) employed two expatriate and 1250 Cambodian staff. Richner's huge task is overwhelming. The plight of the sick in Cambodia is strong. Many Cambodian families have lost their land to pay off medical expenses. His hospitals in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap treat 2,000 outpatients per location a day and over four million patients per year FOR FREE.

This is one of the greatest men I have ever met. He was the Michael Jordan of health care. Last month the article we wrote about his passing titled, DR. BEAT RICHNER REMEMBERED - HE GAVE HIS LIFE FOR THIS that ranks 5th.

I noted that I've interviewed some of the most famous entertainers and sports figures in the world of all time but� after seeing a huge crowd of families with children waiting for health care at Cambodia's Kantha Bopha hospital in Phnom Penh, I knew that interview with the hospitals founder Richner was going to be a something special in a category that I had never done.
