SAY WHAT!!! TUCHEL AGAIN?

As the saying goes what goes around comes around. As life would have it Thomas Tuchel is back again as being mentioned as the replacement manager for Bayern Munich. It seems the powers have sacked manager Julian Nagelsmann. They feel that Nagelsmann can't deliver the quality of production that the squad needs despite Munich being in 2nd place on the table behind Borussia Dortmund.

The side's numbers dispute not delivering a top notch side as they dominate the stats through 25 matches. Munich have scored 72 goals and conceded only 27 for a +45. Dortmund have registered 55 goals and 31 against for only a + 25 tally. With the discrepancy in the numbers it appears that Nagelsmann has been fielding productive sides. There is no doubt that something is wrong with this picture.

This is the same nonsense reasoning that defies logic. It compares to the sacking of Tuchel early this season by Chelsea after only the first seven games resulting in three losses. At that time we expressed that the move must be a personal matter between the then new owners and Tuchel. Since then Chelsea hasn't produced and is currently in 10th place in the English Premiere League.

One of the questionable factors is that when one factors in that Tuchel won the Champions League in his first season with the club. That indicates that there was more to that story that has not been revealed. The same can be said of this possible Tuchel resurrection in Munich. Is this a Steven Spielberg epic?

RONALDO GETS HIS NUMBERS

When there is a comparison of who is the best player between Christiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi the answer is in the numbers. It's the numbers that are more important to Ronaldo. It's the results that matter to Messi who topped Ronaldo in being a member of a World Cup winning squad.

Being 38 it is doubtful that Ronaldo will achieve that goal. The numbers game he has achieved is being the most capped player in international football history.

Ronaldo made a penalty and notched a free kick as he set a new record for the most international caps in Portugal's 4-0 win over Liechtenstein in their opening Euro 2024 qualifier on Thursday.

The question is will Portugal's new manager Roberto Martinez move on from the Ronaldo era and select a young side that will be capable of challenging for the next World Cup in 2026? At that time Ronaldo will be 42. As the saying goes time marches on…. will Ronaldo? Stay tuned…

HEY... PLAY-YA

Once again Shohei Ohtani displayed his talent worthy of being the highest paid player in baseball. After a stellar two way pitching and hitting performance in The World Baseball Classic it earned him receiving MVP status. The 28 year-old capped it off by striking out his MLB teammate Mike Trout to close the game out and giving Japan the competition's title.

This season may be the last for the superstar in Los Angeles/Anaheim. The Los Angeles Angels have given Ohtani a $30 million one year deal for the final year of his obligation to the team. He will become a free agent following the end of this season. It has been reported that the other Los Angeles team, the Dodgers are interested in signing the superstar.

In the past the Angels have made too many signing mistakes paying millions of dollars and long term contracts to older players that are often injured and bring zero value to the team.

In Ohtani the Angels have TWO PLAYERS a pitcher and hitter. Each skill is worthy of $25 Million a year for a total $50 million a year contract. He is THE BEST pitcher on the team and along with Trout they are two of the best hitters in the league. His value is believed to be in the half billion dollar 10-year deal category.

In Ohtani and Trout they have two of the best players ever to play the game. It remains to be seen if Angels officials are smart enough to realize it.

Ohtani wants to win and the Angels are for from accomplishing that. If they don't GET IT then Ohtani will make a wiser General Manager and team happy. The bottom line is…. IF YOU SNOOZE… YOU LOSE.
