Entertainment BEAT - AMERICAN IDOL'S TITANIC SINKING SHIP

Simon Fuller the man behind the American Idol plan - Simon Fuller Partners

It was a bitter pill for the shows creator Simon Fuller to swallow but from a business standpoint it was a decision that Fox to make. Fuller appeared to be a no happy man as he had a perturbed look on his face at this seasons final a few days later following the Fox announcement. Missing was the usual interview of Fuller by the shows host Ryan Seacrest that usually results in how happy he is for the show success. On this day Fuller was living in NO HAPPY LAND

FOX DROPPED THE BOMB - IDOL 2-B CANCELED

As the saying goes…. You've made your own bed… now sleep in it. That is exactly that American Idol has done in placing itself in the position of losing the plot in the direction of what has turned out to be a now failing show. The bomb was dropped by the Fox television network which carries the show announced on Monday, May 11, 2015 that next season, the 15th would be the final season for the program that in recent years has lost the plot.

It was a bitter pill for the shows creator Samna Fuller to swallow but from a business standpoint it was a decision that Fox to make. Fuller appeared to be a no happy man as he had a perturbed look on his face at this seasons final a few days later following the Fox announcement. Missing was the usual interview of Fuller by the shows host Ryan Scariest that usually results in how happy he is for the show success. On this day Fuller was living in NO HAPPY LAND.

As usual this season created another surprise as the winner was Nick Fradiani who at 29 was the oldest competitor in the competition. His win is an example of how the show has declined is the level of talent. Fradiani has a good voice but not great. All of the voices remaining on their competitor show The Voice are far superior. The decline of the level of Idol talent can be directly attributed to the judges choices and the behind the scenes decision makers.

The fifteenth and final season is expected to have an additional focus on the program's alumni. Ryan Seacrest will return as host, with Harry Connick Jr., Keith Urban, and Jennifer Lopez all returning for their respective third, fourth, and fifth seasons as judges.

Idol started to fall apart during the power struggle between Fuller and former judge Simon Cowell. Cowell had his massive ego problems and felt that he was bigger than the show. One of the most dramatic changes was Cowell introducing the judge's grand walk down the steps entrance at the beginning of the show; it was as if they were royalty. The focus shifted away from the talent and was strongly directed towards the judges who had far too much to say which unnecessarily consumed a lot of air time.

Cowell eventually left the show resulting in his replacements. It was obvious that Idol lost the plot when they hired a comedian Ellen Degeneres to be a judge of voices. Given that she had no music experience it was obvious that Idol was more concerned about the star power and popularity appeal to attract viewers. After one season Degeneres graceful bowed out of her position and Idol decision makers were left with egg on their faces.

Season ten was the beginning of the end. The series premiered on January 19, 2011. Many changes were introduced from the format to the personnel of the show. Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler joined Randy Jackson as judges following the departures of Simon Cowell (who left to launch the U.S. version of The X Factor), Kara DioGuardi (whose contract was not renewed) and DeGeneres, while Nigel Lythgoe returned as executive producer which would prove to be a major error. Jimmy Iovine the chairman of the Interscope Geffen A&M label group, the new partner of American Idol, acted as the in-house mentor.

Lopez was managed by managed by Fuller therefore it established a conflict of interest and Lopez seized the opportunity. It was as if Idol thought that Lopez's celebrity would raise the ratings. If that was the case their hopes would eventually turn sour. As time went on Lopez became more vocal and appeared to demand to be the center of attention. She began to express who she loved, liked and was rooting for. It appeared that she was attempting influence the viewing audience to support her choices…. The sad news is THEY DID and the show would then unravel.
