The film Lord of War mirrors what is currently going on today, selling arms for war to slaughter thousands of Ukrainian and Russian citizens. The primary suppliers the US and the colonialist nations France and Britain are exercising their power to dominate and humble the world. WAR means money and this film is loosely based on real life experiences of Viktor Bout. It reveals how crooked governments are in the thirst for world dominance and money over the lives of their citizens

THE MONEY TRAIL

Saturday October 29, 2022

It goes without saying that the billions of aid dollars of US citizens money is being donated to the Ukraine government to kill off their and Russian people while Americans go homeless or can't pay for uncontrolled rent increases. When it comes to the current situation of more money for war my go to film is the Nicholas Cage's Lord of War. It is based on illegal arms sales and an arms dealer from the Ukraine.

In the early 1980s, Yuri Orlov, the eldest son of a family of Ukrainian refugees, is visiting a Brighton Beach restaurant where he witnesses a Russian mobster kill two would-be assassins holding Kalashnikov rifles.

The incident inspires him to go into the arms trade. Yuri muses that the constant need for weapons is similar to the human need for food and drink, thus he can make a fortune. After successfully completing his first sale of an Uzi sub machine gun to a local mobster, Yuri convinces his younger brother Vitaly to become his partner.

The two brothers get their first big break during the 1982 Lebanon War, where they sell weapons to both Israeli and Lebanese troops despite witnessing the same weapons being used to commit war crimes and other atrocities.

As Yuri begins to prosper by exploiting his growing network of business connections, he comes to the attention of Interpol, in particular an idealistic agent named Jack Valentine, with whom he crosses paths on multiple occasions. Valentine represents a unique threat to Yuri because he is after glory, not money, and thus cannot be bought off.

The younger brother has a heart but succumbs to drugs. After rehab he reluctantly rejoins his brother.

The turning point is when Yuri sells truck loaded with arms to an African warlord. During negotiations the young brother notices children at the bottom of a hill without limbs as a result of the warlord's actions. He shows his brother the children and pleads for him not to sell the weapons. Yuri refuses.

It a fit of rage the young brother opens a box of grenades, pulls the pin and throws it into a truck full of weapons. The truck explodes and warlords' brother kills him with his gun made of gold.

The death of his brother fails to deter the arms dealer who continues his weapons business. When he is caught by the law and held for trial is when he informs the government agent that in a few minutes there will be a knock at the door and one of his superiors will congratulate him for a job well done and he will have to release him. The reason why is because the US government IS ONE of his suppliers who he is in business with to sell their weapons.

The Ukraine has a history of government corruption which this film firmly lays it on the line as Yuri's uncle sells him surplus Ukraine weapons from war that ended.

The story line is exactly what is occurring with US president Joe Biden being the man with an open pocket book of US citizen taxpayer money to enrich the Ukraine with arms. The reality is although the American citizen has no say in the matter of how their money is being squandered away to their governments self interest groups such as their industrial military arms complex while the citizen suffers financially. It begs the question is US tax money being spent wisely?

As they say art imitates life. In this case the film is based on the notorious arms deal Viktor Bout. Since the current war in Ukraine began Bout has been in the news. Russia wants Bout released from a US prison. Obviously Bout, who hails from the Soviet Union is a valuable arms dealer asset. The reality is the top five arms dealers in the world are on the UN Security council, they include the US, Russia, China, France and Great Britain. The irony is an arms dealers will sell to both sides of a conflict.

Much of the main stream media news depicts Bout as the person Russia wants in exchange for American professional basketball athlete Brittney Griner. Griner was arrested while entering Russia at the airport security with a pipe found in her luggage that had a minuscule amount of a drug. She has been in custody of the Russian prison system since February. Earlier this month she was sentenced to a nine prison year sentence.

The Lord of War film has many similarities to Bout's background. According to the 55-year-old Bout's personal website, he began his first air freight business, Air Cess, in Africa around the time of the collapse of the Soviet Union, operating four Antonov An-8 planes in Angola as it was the only country to allow the An-8 to be used in civilian freight at the time. Reportedly, Bout's companies legally provided air freight services to the French government, the United Nations, and the United States, including shipped flowers, frozen chicken, UN peacekeepers, French soldiers, and African heads of state. Around this time, Bout earned the nickname "Sanctions Buster" due to being implicated of facilitating the violation of the United Nations arms embargoes in the western African countries of Angola, Liberia, Sierra Leone, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

This is what political corruption is all about. Selling arms and wars ARE GOOD FOR BUSINESS. When you factor in the a female athlete is being held for such a minor crime it reveals how little life mean when it comes to war and selling arms.

US president Biden is proof of the pudding. Since the Ukraine conflict with Russia began in February Biden has spent BILLIONS of US taxpayer dollars to support and the slaughter of Ukraine and Russian citizens. But hey… thousands of deaths is good for business. According to the website Market Realist earlier this year, the U.S. Senate passed a $40 billion measure on May 19 to send money to Ukraine.

This is triple the amount that the country sent in March. The U.S. is currently ahead of other countries when it comes to how much money it's sent in foreign aid to Ukraine. The film was released in the United States on September 16, 2005, to positive reviews and grossed $72.6 million at the box office.

THIS FILM IS A MUST WATCH AND A KEEPER FOR A VIDEO LIBRARY.
