Over the top praise by American Idol judges of some of the contestants raise some red flags as something is up and the fix is in. Hopefully there will not be a repeat of last season's Pia Toscano catastrophe where a lesser talented contestant is saved and a true talent is used up - Hollie Cavanagh appears to being set up to fail - Recommended TV Listings

SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE AMERICAN IDOL PICTURE

This season American Idol has improved in some ways and is lacking in others. The staging is excellent with more of an emphasis in having background singers support the contestants. The set (stage background) is much improved but a bit on the dark side. The band is much better and its leader Ray Chew and the bass player are monster (great).

The down side is there is too much emphasis on promoting certain Idols particularly Phillip Phillips and Colton Dixon. Each week they choose a contestant too overly criticize. The past two weeks they have been overly critical of Hollie Cavanagh. The pressure they put on her is reminiscent of the Cops TV show where the cops in an aggressive takedown step on the victims neck and yell at them to put their hands behind their back to be handcuffed.

Cavanagh is young and sensitive. She appears to be withdrawing each week of criticism. Her confidence is decreasing. It appears that she's being set up to fail. The only positive thing about criticizing her unjustly is that the entertainment business is like that.

Some of the most successful talent in the entertainment business has experienced rejections. The point being that only the strong survive and rejections make them more determined to succeed and they don't withdraw as they believe in their talent.

Jennifer Hudson is the prime example of an American Idol reject to move on and have a great career. Cavanagh has a much better voice than Phillips who does nothing but growl and the judges keep telling him how great he is and Jennifer Lopez continues to express how much she loves him. The question is what or where is his natural voice?

The other red flag about Phillips is that he is permitted to play guitar when he performs. There are other contestants that play instruments but are not playing them on the show. Bottom line.... SOMETHING Is WRONG WITH THIS SELLING PHILLIP PHILLIPS PICTURE.

Elise Testone is overrated and is nothing more than a club band singer who sounds like thousands of other club band singers in the business. There is nothing special about her voice s these cheerleading judges claim. The most improved is Skyler Laine, Deandre Brackensick and Joshua Ledet. As Ledet settles down using his natural voice and not trying too many vocal tricks he could be a Top 3 finalist.

Ledet is now using his natural voice which is better than the growl he used in his early success. Al Green he is not but a focused Joshua Ledet is good enough.
