Video Beat MAX Part 2 - NR'S TOP 10 Most Read VIDEO BEAT Columns

James Loving - National Radio Text Service

As 2011 comes to a close our interest perked as to what Video Beat columns were of the most interest to our readers. We were surprised to see that our most recent columns were most in demand. The content was largely on our features on Games Changers program on Bloomberg television. It's about the shakers and movers in business particularly the new generation of billionaires that made their money with Internet related ventures.

NR READERS WANT THE REAL DEAL

During the past year our coverage of American Idol was the driving force of interest in our Video Beat columns. That changed during that last three months as interest in our video coverage shifted from talent to our focus on the young movers and shakers in business. That was spurned on by Bloomberg TV programs Game Changers and Risk Takers.

Of our Top 10 columns eight on the list were published from October to December. Six of the Top 10 were published during November and December. Much of that content was derived from Bloomberg's weekend TV programming.

Of the Top 10 five of the columns were of business related content featuring Virgin Group founder Richard Branson, Marc Andreessen the co-creator of Netscape and Firefox, Google cofounder Sergey Brin and Larry Page, Apple founder Steve Jobs and Facebook creator (?) Mark Zuckenberg.

Entertainment has a presence with America's Top Model contestant Sheena Sakai notching the 2nd spot. Sakai is the only full blooded Asian to be a contestant in the Tyra Banks produced program. She returned to be a contestant in the All-Star program which consisted of past contestants of all the shows that were most remembered. In Sakai's departure in her original appearance she made it to number 6 and was eliminated in Amsterdam. On her way out the door she said with a twinkle in her eye, "There will never be another Sheena." She got that right.

The most disturbing piece was our concern about the integrity of the MTV EXIT NGO which is based in Bangkok. It failed to be responsible and state their agenda and explain how they are spending US taxpayer dollars and donor money. They have made some very questionable decisions and have an arrogant attitude that they are above reproach in having to explain how they are spending US taxpayer money. Questions and answers remain.

In our follow-up we discovered that they have 25 employees based in Bangkok. Their web site states that they are spreading the word (ANOTHER NGO PARASITE) about child abuse. The irony being that the Cambodia government released the most dangerous foreigner pedophile a day before they presented their concert at Phnom Penh's Olympic Stadium. To clarify the foreigner notation it is revealed in the documentary Red Light - The Virgin Trade that 90% of sex with children in Cambodia is carried out by Cambodian men.

The concert was held on a Saturday but the day before the Cambodian government gave its children a Christmas present by secretly releasing Russian pedophile Stanislav Molodyakov who is wanted by Interpol. Cambodia has ignored Russia's extradition requests for his child sex crimes in Russia. The 44-year-old PEDO served only four years of a 17 year sentence in Cambodia for having sex with 17 under age children many of whom were 8-10 years old.

It raises the question are these young NGO types with MTV EXIT on a extended spring break and are doing the wrong thing in being in the wrong place at the wrong time? We titled the segment of the column MTV EXIT CONCERT RAISES ETHICS QUESTIONS.

The oldest column to make the list was our review of Chinese English language programming during our 26 day visit to the country in July. We won't reveal our coverage but will voice our opinion that Chinese English language programming has its faults but it is far superior to America's FOX News. It is more objective and news driven as opposed to Fox's screaming in your face with biased propaganda.

In the past sports has always made an impact in our coverage. Via TV reviews sports emerged in our Video Beat review of the Challenger Muay Thai boxing reality show that notched the 9th position. We raised questions regarding how sponsors and a fighter's home near where the event took place in Malaysia possibly factored in the decision making and outcome. We predicted that a Thai would win and we were prophetic. The victory was tainted due to what we believed to be a biased decision in a fight that we thought he previously lost but was judged the winner.

Entertainment is our strong suite and it made its presence known in notching the 7th and 10th positions. Our real life experience from back in the day was our review of the Runaways film about the first all girl rock n roll band.

The Amazing Race USA final took the 10th position. It joined the part 2 of our Richard Branson story as how he put his life on the line with his balls to the wall attitude to promote his business when he didn't have the money to do so. Also included in that piece is the Amazing Race USA final four. The big news was Olympic snowboarders who won six of 11 segments of the race were upset in the final four. The good news is they won a number of prizes including each winning a new Mustang automobile.

Part 1 - JK ROWLING & ANNA WINTOUR featured on GAME CHANGERS

CHEERS, HAPPY HOLIDAYS & have a HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
