SOS!!! IDOL DRAMA CONTINUES to LOSE THE PLOT & VIEWING AUDIENCE

American Idol is on with their new season. We've opted not to give coverage to the show due to last season's tragedy that was saturated with controversy and poor decision making. The dismissal of Jermaine Jones was the beginning of revealing the shows leanings towards sensationalism with total disregard for an individual's feelings and reputation. Idol executives deliberately exposed Jones in a disgraceful manner in public that conflicts with their previous experiences of contestants that had a history of legal problems which the dealt with privately behind closed doors. That Jones elimination episode was a piranha, go for blood move.

The favoritism given to eventual winner Phillip Phillips to us he's famous for his ONE OCTAVE range making him an outrageous choice for the PTB's (Powers That Be) to push him through for the title. From the beginning they excused every mistake he made and he made plenty. Now pretty boy host Ryan Seacrest is noting that Phillips record sold two million units. So what he sucks! The song they gave Jessica Sanchez to sing in the final was an intended abortion of a set up to have her fail. That final was deserving of a visit to the barf bag.

This season Idol continues to focus on promoting the judges as being the stars of the show. From the start a reported staged feud between Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey put the show in a bad light. That contrived staging continues but it doesn't work. WHO CARES....? IS THAT ENTERTAINMENT?

Minaj surprisingly has taken on the role of being dominate, mouthy, bossy a role that was developed by Simon Cowell. Carey is somewhat disappointing as she is not good at critiquing. The shocker is Randy Jackson is not as vocal as he was in previous seasons and that's a good thing.

Due to the lack of interest we haven't watched the show this season and quite frankly didn't miss it. It's a no brainer that if a show emits ANGER and NOT PLEASURE the choice is that you don't watch it as ones health is the top priority.

We did take a look during commercial breaks of the others show we were viewing (those shows will be revealed tomorrow). Idol also won by default when there was nothing worth watching of our interest on any channel and we took a look at the two shows that cut down from the girl's group stage to the final 20 girls.

What leaped out was the continued poor choices buy the NEW AI judging team. They were cutting singers that had better voices and could remember the song lyrics while sending through girls that forgot the lyrics and their voices were not up to par.

One of the contestants Stephanie Schimel said, "Why did they let me trough? I botched it!"

She was later eliminated when they cut to 20 as she had to sing again to prove that she was good enough to remain in the contest. In the end she failed finished 21st overall but booted out of the competition.

The most outstanding voices we heard were from Sihebua Abdula who sang Carey's When You Believe and received a rave response from Carey and the other judges. Melinda Ademi also made a strong showing. The most outstanding talent was Angela Miller who played piano and sang a song she wrote. She sounded like an already top recording artist which prompted Keith Urban to say that if it was already a record he would play it in his car. "That is such a beautiful song," he noted

Many absurd statements were made by Minaj when she voted for girls that totally forgot the lyrics. On one occasion she said of a black singer that totally forgot the lyrics how she enjoyed the contestant's skill in faking them. Obviously to Minaj that indicates the contestant has talent. Where is Simon Cowell when you need him!

This incredible statement is as ridiculous as Jennifer Lopez's fascination last season with Phillip Phillips that he was so great and could do no wrong. When Lopez said that Phillip's voice reminded her of James Brown I thought she had lost her mind. If Brown heard that he would throw up and roll over in his grave.

The other appalling statement Minaj made was when Randy Jackson missed a day from a girl judging session since he was in the recording studio producing a record. When he returned Minaj told him how much the judges needed him. To us that raised the red OH PLEASE FLAG as it proves that the judges DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY'RE DOING and are NOT READY to do this job properly. As they say in sports a great player usually is not a good coach. The same hypothesis can be applied to entertainers. Keith Urban is the most down to earth and grounded, has the best critiques while talking the least.

In truth Minaj is an intelligent individual who comes off as a manipulator. She needs the spotlight to be on her. It raises the question could this be a sign of her having insecurity? Minaj brings a dynamic edge to the show. Without her outlandishness it is doubtful that this cast of judges could be interesting enough to do without her. She is the spark of the judging team. The question is will she be honest and objective with her critiques and not show favoritism as she has thus far.

On another occasion Minaj said to an all girl group during the group stage, "I enjoyed you guys messing up the words. I enjoyed you more than any other group today."

In contrast to that statement she said to another contestant, "I love your voice and that is what this (competition) is all about."

Nothing could be further from the truth. The show is not looking for the best voice but Jackson and the judges repeatedly referred to something else. Jackson said to a contestant after she sang. "I'm not sure about the star factor." Other judges made similar comments. That was evident in many f the choice the show has made over the last few years as the forced through winners are mostly male and lay guitar. The other similarity was the 2nd place finisher had a better voice with the exception of Scott McCreery.

We're not sure at this time but if in house mentor (?) Jimmy Iovine returns this will be one ABORTION of a season. Of the two producers that unnecessarily embarrassed Jermaine Jones last season Nigel Lythgoe and Ken Warrick unfortunately return. With these two buffoons back in the saddle more drama will emerge and promoted. For Idol fans this is about common sense of knowing what a sham this show is and choosing your poison.

Every season Idol is SATURATED WITH DRAMA. If its controversy you're looking for Idol has it.

Last season eleven suffered a steep drop in ratings, a drop attributed by some to the arrival of new shows such as The Voice and The X-Factor. The ratings for the first two episodes of season eleven fell 16-21% in overall viewer numbers and 24-27% in the 18/49 demo, while the season finale fell 27% in total viewer number and 30% in the 18-49 demo. The average viewership for the season fell below 20 million viewers the first time since 2003, a drop of 23% in total viewers and 30% in the 18/49 demo. For the first time in eight years, American Idol lost the leading position in both the total viewers number and the 18/49 demo, coming in second to NBC Sunday Night Football.

The show had been criticized in earlier seasons over the onerous contract contestants had to sign that gave excessive control to 19 Entertainment over their future career, and handed a large part of their future earnings to the management.

Individual contestants have generated controversy in this competition for their past actions, or for being 'ringers' planted by the producers. A number of contestants had been disqualified for various reasons, such as for having an existing contract or undisclosed criminal records, although the show had been accused of double standard for disqualifying some but not the others.

Voting results have been a consistent source of controversy. The mechanism of voting had also aroused considerable criticisms, most notably in season two when Ruben Studdard beat Clay Aiken in a close vote, and in season eight, when the massive increase in text votes (100 million more text votes than season 7) fueled the texting controversy. Concerns about power voting have been expressed from the very first season. Since 2004, votes also have been affected to a limited degree by online community services such as DialIdol and Vote for the Worst.

This season Idol has some good talent the questions at what point will Jackson or Seacrest, as usual say... THIS IS THE BEST TALENT WE'VE EVER HAD! Usually it is after the final cut and those that survive to be included in the regular seasons performances.

This season but we've opted to not watch every episode but drop in from time to time when others channels offer nothing. Idol has proven that it is not about talented singers it's about overdosing on pimping off the judges as the focal point, reducing the contestants as being a side show and more bull$#!t. Following several seasons of ridiculous results and obvious favoritism at this time we're all BULL$#!TED OUT!
