Laarni's situation improves but Red Flags Jump Up

The Pinoy Dream Academy is supposed to be about developing talent but what has transpired is that they have succeeded in destroying minds. The evidencia as the Filipinos like to say evidence is three students left the Academy in the first two weeks due to stress. Two voluntarily quit another was hospitalized and later expelled for the sake of his health.

Within the ranks of the students were two very vocal 18-year-olds Inaki and Bea who projected arrogant know it all attitudes. They talked too much and served as a value... too little. They impressed me as two spoiled brats who were from well to do families and had their own way. They didn't learn how to respect others.

The duo sunk their vampire like fangs into Laarni who is from a very poor background where she was abused and has been on her own since she was 15 trying to pay her way through college. She entered that Academy at 22 but turned 23 June 23. Inaki and Bea were constantly on Larni's case and it took its toll as she finally broke down rebelled and withdrew.

The mentors and judges were also hard on her grading her with low marks and an abundance of criticism though she has one of the best voices if not the best in the contest. The judges and mentors continually praised Inaki for his performance skills that being gyrating around the stage in a not so graceful manner but they never pointed out he has a lousy to NO VOICE.

Their acceptance to be in the Academy raised red flags that they had connections that overrode their lack of talent permitting them to be in the program and be a negative irritant contagion to the Academy cast with their negative power of influence.

Even with the constant backstabbing by the evil 18-year-old duo Laarni toughed it out and did well on performance nights while trying to fight off the pressures through the week. Her efforts were not appreciated by the judges who have questionable judging credentials. They preach what they themselves can't put into practice.

After investigating the matter a bit it came to light from Philippine viewers we interviewed that the rich kids on the show are Bea, Inaki and Bea's boyfriend Miguel. Thankfully Bea was eliminated this past week after being on probation and viewers having to vote if she or Miguel would be eliminated from the competition. Miguel received 74.86% to Bea's 25.15% and she was terminated.

Miguel deservedly won not only because he has a better voice but he's a better person. When Bea was unmercifully berating Laarni before everyone in the house as well as an International television audience Miguel came to Laarni's rescue and told Bea that he didn't like the way she was talking to Laarni. Inaki later interceded and got them to make up and continue being friends.

Bea's verbal abuse of Laarni set the tone for some others including mentors looking for every chink in Laarni's amour they could find. After Laarni's revolt of not going to a diction class after she was previously embarrassed by a teacher in front of the class she tried to make amends to her fellow classmates by preparing them food. According to the Dream Academy website they rejected the gesture and Bea and Apple were seen on a televised portion of the show mocking and criticizing her as they walked away from the food she prepared.

The following day (Saturday) on performance night with her (as American Idol's Simon Cowell would say) BIG VOICE she belted out 'Natural Woman.' You could see her reach down deep inside a sing with soul, power and emotion. How was her performance graded by the judges? Was her effort appreciated? The answer is somewhat.

She received a GPA of 8.73 and tied for second with undefeated Liezel who was always graded as the best every week since the show began. Bugoy was rated the best with an 8.80 GPA. Bugoy is good but he doesn't have the range or quality Laarni's voice has. He lacks an upper range (the ability to sing high notes.) His range is limited while Laarni's can cover more octaves.

Liezel is good but her voice is not as BIG nor does it have as rich a texture as Laarni's. What she does do better than any other contestant is utilize her vocal talent and getting the most out of her voice. She is more focused. She also is low profile and free of people always drawing attention to her (as Inaki and Bea do) and raining on her parade.

Another red flag jumped out during the performance show when Bea sang and the vicious judge Gerard Salonga made the comment, "Your cousin is going to be mad at me." That raised the question of favoritism and nepotism and who is her cousin? Why is she on a show with a judge who is friendly with her family?

Though there are family ties Salonga did accurately note she doesn't have enough talent to be a good singer. Well at least he got that right.

Part 1 ... - Pinoy DREAM ACADEMY OUT OF CONTROL

The Bloom Fell Off The Freshie Rose

What happened to a contest for teens that did not live up to it's former standards when these words were spoken: "Our society now has a bad problem with drugs and domestic violence. In order to solve these problems you have to start with the family but sometimes they don't understand. That's where we come in. It's not going to solve the problems of the world but at least we started something. We teach being a good teen at home by being a good son or daughter. At school (we teach) being a good student, in society to be a good friend. This is the concept we teach." COMING - The Bloom Fell Off The Rose
