THE CHOSEN ONE

After last seasons American Idol their best ever we were looking forward to this season 11. From the audition stage disappointment set it as we failed to see the talent on the level of last season. There definitely wasn't an impact performer as was eventual winner Scott McCreery whose deep country voice was an immediate standout. When he said he was only 16 it was shocking.

This season's auditions produced some good voice but nobody stood out to be as outstanding as McCreery then up popped another outstanding vocal talent 16-year-old Jessica Sanchez. When she sang I Will Always Love You during the Top 13 performance she shocked the world with her incredible voice. She was being compared as another Whitney Houston but ONLY 16 still growing and developing her talent.

As a reviewer for the Christian Science Monitor noted that she set the bar so high it would be tough to top. That reviewer was spot on but Sanchez has continued to amaze.

The world was shocked again when she was voted off the show but saved by the judges in the Top 7 performance week it was the right thing to do and not a wasted save as it was last season for the very talented Casey Abrams who is a musician not a SINGER.

Joshua Ledet is the most improved and gets stronger every week. At the beginning we questioned why he was in the contest. He made us pay attention when he started to sing in his natural voice and stopped growling. He's gaining confidence each week and is beginning to believe in himself. His lack of self confidence is his weakness but his talent is there.

Hollie Cavanagh is great as a sweet caring person with a great voice. Her weakness is a lack of confidence. She can win but win or not she has a talent that can be successful in the entertainment business. The question is can she be tough enough to take the pain and the abuse that the business delivers.

The mystery of this season is Phillip Phillips. From the very beginning we have heard the judges and in house mentor Jimmy Iovine praise his vocal and guitar playing skills. At the same time they MAKE EXCUSES why he's doesn't sing so well after certain performances. He appears to be a FIX TO WIN.

Jennifer Lopez stated on camera after one of his poor performances, "I WANT YOU TO WIN!"

Say what? Is she out of her mind to make such a bold statement favoring someone in an attempt to influence voters while at the same time disrespecting the other contestants? Is she hot to trot for the Georgia peach?

This type of behavior is so unfair to the other more worthy contestants it defies logic. What it does show is how biased the contest is and adds fuel to the fire that the show is a farce and fixed. This America decides issue is a sham of a rip off and an insult to some of the viewer's intelligence. He is the only contestant that has never been in the bottom 3.

It wouldn't be surprising if he wins and Lopez takes him on one of her tours to be her opening act so she can have two boy toys to play with on the road. At least that what appears to be in the works.

Though Jessica Sanchez and Joshua Ledet are at this time the best voices remaining in the contest one thing is certain there will not be two minorities in the final two there never was a never will be. Why? It's bad for business and other than the Idol powers that be having their say sponsors have a BIG voice. They want big ratings to sell their products.

With the groundwork having been set over the next two weeks at least one of the two minorities will be off the show and the octave and a half voice of Phillips will remain.

Many former Idol viewers have stated that they prefer The Voice saying it has better talent. We disagree but the most noticeable aspect of that show that jumps out is it has had TWO minority winners in its first two seasons. What that means.... is up to you.

NEXT Part 2 - THE RESULTS

IDOL'S TOP 4

* Hollie Cavanagh (born July 5, 1993) is from McKinney, Texas. She was born in Liverpool, Merseyside, England to Lorraine and Peter Cavanagh and hailed from the Liverpudlian suburb Allerton, in England, and moved to the United States in 2002. As of April 19, 2012, he is the only contestant this season to not have been in the Bottom 3 yet.

* Jessica Sanchez (born August 4, 1995 is a Filipino-Mexican-American from San Diego, California. She was born in Chula Vista, California. Sanchez also participated in the YouTube edition of "We Are the World" along with 56 other YouTube artists, including American Idol season 10 finalist Thia Megia. She was saved from elimination by the judges after receiving the lowest number of votes in the top seven round, making her the first female contestant to be saved by the judges.
