THE ROAD TO EXPOSE THE TRUTH

Sunday, August 30, 2020

When it comes to busting the balls of the government filmmaker Oliver Stone is one of the best. Stone is recognized for making films that question the US government such as JFK and the theory that former US President John F Kennedy was assassinated by the CIA. The scenario was not appreciated by the US Gov but Stone earned his stripes for committing to what the US government considers DEMOCRACY. He served in the Vietnam/American War. While serving he was wounded twice and witnessed first had how irresponsible US troops were I murdering Vietnamese citizens and raping some of their children.

On the show Stone discusses his new book ‘Chasing the Light,’ which tells the story not only of his life, career, and work on iconic films such as ‘Scarface’, and ‘Midnight Express’, but also the interference of the state in his work, especially ‘Salvador’. He discusses the US’ continuing imperialism in Latin America; how Hollywood’s obsession with cop shows ultimately led to the Crime Bill; the War on Drugs and his own drug use; the revival of the Cold War in the 1980s against the Soviet Union and the birth of Ronald Reagan’s neoliberalism; the Clinton White House; and the intelligence agencies’ continuing grip on the US government. he doesn’t hold back on his opinions on the current POTUS and why it was hopeless for Trump to change a system run by the military-industrial complex!

In April 1967, Stone enlisted in the United States Army and requested combat duty in Vietnam. From September 16, 1967 to April 1968, he was twice wounded in action. For his service, his military awards include the Bronze Star with "V" Device for valor, the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster to denote two awards, the Air Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Combat Infantryman Badge.

That experience gave him the foundation to write and direct his blockbuster film Platoon which won him Academy Awards for Best Director and Best Picture. Platoon was the first in a trilogy of films based on the Vietnam War, in which Stone served as an infantry soldier. He continued the series with Born on the Fourth of July (1989)-for which Stone won his second Best Director Oscar-and Heaven & Earth (1993). Stone's other works include the Salvadoran Civil War-based drama Salvador (1986).

In a visit to Cambodia he related to an NGO staff and a University of Cambodia student audience that Heaven & Earth is his favorite of the trilogy. The problem was it was one of Stones biggest box office flops.

This all leads up to an interview Stone did in the talk show Going Underground on the RT channel hosted by AFSHIN RATTANSI. The show is available on the Internet @ Going Underground http://fb.me/GoingUndergroundRT

For conspiracy theorists that believe that anything Russia is bad, listen up…. this is a MUST WATCH. The reasons why are firstly anything that the US government sells as being untrustworthy is a MUST WATCH and DECIDE FOR YOURSELF.

I'm a firm believer in making decisions based on my own experience and intelligence. I don't listen to fear mongering. I have the strength and intelligence to now that the US government is the most untrustworthy source on earth.

Stone's war experience led him to smoking weed which was common place among soldiers. When he finished his service and returned to America he was busted for carrying the substance and was jailed. His wealthy Wall Street father had the connections and money to have him released.

This information is noted in his RT appearance and not in his biography. What stands out is his fathers Wall Street background was instrumental in his making another block buster film titled Wall Street which he wrote and directed resulted in him winning another Academy Award.

Being a thorn n the US governments side continued with his trilogy of films based on the American Presidency: including JFK (1991), as well as Nixon (1995), and W. (2008); and Snowden (2016).

Stone discussed the JFK film and his belief that the CIA were the killers of the former US President on RT. The film was largely dismissed by anyone or thing government but in reality why would the US gov. admit their transgression while it's easier to deflect and direct accusations at Russia. It's the American way as well as the way of international politics.

Stone's other works include the Salvadoran Civil War-based drama Salvador (1986) which Stone goes into detail on RT, the background of making that film. Again... it was another shot at the underbelly of the US Gov.

One thing is certain Stone has a wealth of films to his credit. He has a perspective that few have since many of his films are based on he's been there and he's done that. Stone has absorbed rejection, failures and success. He's has been criticized for his points of view. That analogy indicates that he's on to something. If people get in your way then you must be a threat to their devious ways.

As a result of his life Stone has written a book titled Chasing the Light regarding how he fought his way into Hollywood from the 1960's to Platoon. One thing is certain… the interview of Stone on RT's Going Underground is a MUST WATCH!
