IT'S OVER FOR SHEENA ASIA'S FIRST ON TOP MODEL

As the song goes, 'This is it!' as it will be for America's Top Model's first Asian decent contestant. Half Korean/Japanese Sheena Sakai will be eliminated in this weeks show Sunday night on Channel V. Described as a hooch (sexy) Sheena managed to survive to the final six which entitled her to a trip to Amsterdam where here world came apart and she was eliminated from the competition.

Sakai was born in Hawaii and moved to Harlem the black section of New York City to focus on pursuing her modeling and singing career. On Top Model the judges kept referring to her as hooch implying too sexy and that's not a good thing for who will be selected to be America's Next Top Model.

Sheena has a way about her that is reminiscent of the attitude portrayed on the miserable reality series Bad Girls. The apparently black street home girl influenced Sakai carries it off with ease and is real and not portraying the act but being it. She has a hot look and as the Commodores sang she is built like a 'BRICK HOUSE' and has a great vibrant personality.

Things started to heat up for Sakai in the last episode where she had an argument with two models that were born in Europe and were complaining that they were not understood because they were from a different culture. Since the two models came from European heritage they felt that they could only be understood by each other. Sheena took exception to that appraisal and pointed out that it's not where a person comes from but where they're going in life that matters.

With her home girl street smart personality she also pointed out that the European girls were the most indifferent to her of all the models in the house. The consequence of that exchange will play itself out on this week's episode.

In the upcoming episode the girls went to the Red Light district for a challenge posing as store-front models selling various designers' dresses. Sheena was criticized for giving lewd poses. She was also criticized for her inconsistency and trouble controlling both her pose and face together. The result was she was eliminated.

To see Top Models first ever Asian model contestant tune in this Sunday on Channel V.

NOTE:

Channel V pulled a switch on the scheduling of the program last week moving it up 15 minutes from an 8 & 11 PM start Sunday nights to 7:45 & 10:45 PM. For those interested in seeing Sakai's last episode it will be wise to monitor the channel at the earlier time. There was no announcement if the time change will be in effect this week.

The reasons why the channel made the switch was not disclosed. For those of us who are used to a logical and fixed program schedule make note that in Asia they are not professional in this department. The reasons why are located in the GO FIGURE FILE.

Part 2 - Sheena's GONE

BAD BEHAVIOR ON AUSTRALIA'S TOP MODEL

Human behavior jumps out on reality shows. In some cases it is a negative attitude that can influence some viewers who enjoy these programs. Many teens who aspire to be a model watch these modeling reality series to pick up pointers.

Australia's Top Model on Channel V is now in their third series. It's improving with each edition. Their selections for contestants are getting younger as they are selecting girls who look like women but behave like spoiled children. The negative behavior on the series is currently being played out. What influence it has on viewers remains to be seen.

The program is produce by Australia's Fox television. When one model Alexandra 20 was asked to mention five reasons why she was better than Samantha the model standing next to her one of her replies was because she was whiter.

The judges rolled their eyes and made some comments about how out of line her remark was. They did not say it to Alexandra and she was left to retain her ignorance. As the series unraveled some models started to form alliances. Most of the girls have limited education's and could be deemed not so bright.

A group of models poured water on the head of one of the models Alamela 17 who is a brilliant high school student who knows what manners and the respect of others entails. All of their actions are caught on camera and no secret to anyone. Their actions depicts that they think they are being humorous and don't realize how ill-mannered they appear.

The very polite and meek Alamela chose not to strike back at her tormentors and took it until she reached a breaking point. "I can't stay here while all of this is going on," she cried. "This is a horrible place to be," she added.

When the models came before the judges they were reprimanded that their behavior was that of a pack mentality. "A pack mentality is what dogs do," one judge commented. "None of you would last one minute in my agency with that disgusting behavior," said a judge/modeling agent. They also noted that type of behavior won't be tolerated on the show.

The result is all of the girls involved in their disrespectful actions remain in the competition. Alamela was eliminated on the following episode. The lack of disciplinary action by Fox indicates that they are more concerned about sensational programming than doing the right thing which would be to eliminate anyone who is that disrespectful and inconsiderate. The problem is with a schedule of X amount of episodes scheduled they would have to cut the series in half given the number of violators involved and advertisers would not be too pleased about that.

In the future Fox could be more responsible in their selection process. What stands out in my mind is when I interviewed girls from Cambodia's Freshie competition two years ago one of the contestants Sandy Wang said she wanted to be a model and her favorite television program was America's Top Model. Hopefully she won't watch the Australian edition or she may be negatively influenced. Bad influences are apparently something that Fox television doesn't care about.
