THE MAN WITH A PLAN

You Tubes push technology led us to the following story. The topic suggested was about Siem Reap, a subject we are familiar with. The Barefoot Vlogger has an interesting personality. He has the voice of a New Yorker. It later came out that he currently resides in Miami Florida, USA.

We viewed all or parts of six episodes. In the past many bloggers of Siem Reap focus on where to have beers, food, girls and the Angkor Wat Temples. What stood out about this blogger is an episode where he requested that his tuk tuk driver take him to an area where real Cambodia people live.

The driver took him too an area where the majority of people that live there earn a living, sorting through a trash dumping ground. While there he communicated with the residents. This is one of the Vloggers strengths. He has an engaging personality and asks questions in such a way that he overrides that lack of being familiar with the Khmer language. He applies broken English and results follow.

While he was talking to a store owner a young child approached him requesting something to eat. The Vlogger then bought a bag of chips or something Khmers are familiar with. Then a long line of children followed. It appeared to be 20 to 30 children lined up in order. The blogger then instructed to store owner to give the treat to all regardless of how many children were there.

Barefoot then walked around the small village of housing strictures made of tin corrugated sheeting, wooden boards and whatever else they could find to build a shelter.

At the time it was raining. The Vlogger then came across a structure with a 31-year-old woman holding a child. She said she had three children. The Vlogger looked down only to see she was living in a construction that was built on the dirt ground with no floor. The soil had puddles of water.

The Vlogger also talked to an elderly man sitting next to her. He asked the man what kind of work he did. The man replied that he sorted through the mounds of trash next to the village looking for cans and bottles to sell.

Before the Vlogger left, he gave the woman and man some money that appeared to be a $10 to $20 bill each.

On his journey back to his hotel Barefoot saw a group of men sitting on the corner at a temporary table having something to drink. The Vlogger stopped to have a chat with the men. They informed him that they worked as construction workers at the concrete structure they were sitting in front of and were relaxing, having a chat and beverages.

This Vlogger stands out as the most interesting we've seen that report on Siem Reap, Cambodia and any other nation he visits. He doesn't go to see an area as if he is visiting a zoo. He engages with the locals and derives their opinions while revealing their personalities. In this way a viewer has a chance to understand more how people think in various countries. More importantly he reveals that regardless of one's station in life we are all just people or human beings.

Although his reports are all about him, he has a skill operating his phone camera. His editing is somewhat professional as he has edits that are not too long. He narrates as he walks or travels along in his journeys. We sampled his reports on Cambodia, Vietnam and the Philippines. Some reports are boring.

The bottom line if the subject is boring the show is boring. Below are some links to the Vlogger. Our opinion is the Vlogger is apparently in his late forties to mid-fifties and is well off enough to afford his trips but he is industrious in requesting financial support. He currently as 85.1K subscribers.

His videos end with The Barefoot Vloggers goods for sale such as hats and shirts. The man with an amusing character has a heart and, in some cases, helps people along the way therefore he is a worth watch.

Its up to the viewer to decide if they want to support his financial endeavors. Below are the two episodes that attracted our interest. Other choices are on the You Tube Barefoot Vlogger page for one to view at their desecration. ###

I meet my Tuk Tuk driver "Soapy" and head outside the city limits into the rural areas of Phnom Penh, in search of the heart of Cambodia, to meet and mingle with the locals. In a raw look at how the poor survive, what I found shocked me.

Discovering ANGKOR WAT: Siem Reap, Cambodia Temple Adventure

Barefoot Vlogger 3,133 views Dec 27, 2024

Just outside Siem Reap, Cambodia, I tour and discover Angkor Wat--a former Hindu and now Buddhist Temple on 400 acres. While there, more adventure awaits at Ta Prohm, the incredible temple popularized in the movie Tomb Raider.
