WHO WANTS TO BE ON TOP?

The initial season of Asia's Next Top Model (ANTM) was disappointing due to it having a weak cast and models that failed to be true representatives of their countries. Last season was won by a foreigner of German decent that represented Thailand who won the title. The result raised the questions why are Asian nations failing to have individuals that are truly their nationality and not Eurasian or looking white. Why aren't these nations proud of their heritage? Experienced models Nadya Hutagalung and Joey Mead-King who are the key judging figures on the show returned for panel this season.

This season Cycle 2, ANTM has a more expressive, diverse group of models who for the most part speak English that can be understood. The show features aspiring models from the entire Asia-Pacific region. The second season features a larger cast. Number of contestants increased from 14 to 16, with girls from all the Asia countries from Cycle 1 participated with the exception of Nepal.

Casting calls were held August 2013 in five countries including: * August 9 at HYVE Club, Manila Philippines * August 11 at JW Marriott, Kuala Lumpur Malaysia * August 13 at JW Marriott, Jakarta Indonesia * August 15 at Siam Discovery, Bangkok Thailand * August 17 at FOX International Studios, Singapore City Singapore

The 16 contestants who represent twelve countries in Asia were chosen to compete in the show. The footage was divided into thirteen episodes. Several models have been eliminated from China, Vietnam, South Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore and Indonesia. The mix of cultures is one of the interesting strengths of the show to observe how the models from varied backgrounds can blend in and get along.

The most explosive personalities come from Thailand, Indonesia, India and Singapore. Janice Hermijanto 21 from Indonesia is the target of her competitive housemates. She feels that they talk about her behind her back and fights back wanting to know why so much attention is paid to her. She has distaste for catty females and makes it clear that she has a fondness for men. At this point her stance places her in the position of being a loner.

Tia Taveepanichpan an apparently spoiled 17-year-old from Thailand is drawing a lot of attention and resentment for talking about herself too much. She is Eurasian and very white with a westerners salty attitude. Hmmmm…

Nicole Lee 24 representing Singapore is drawing some resentment since she is a stickler for neatness and cleanliness. In the first episode she took it upon herself to post house rules on the refrigerator. It's the mixture of extreme personalities that make this season interesting…. THUS FAR.

Sneha Ghosh 23 from India is depicted as the messy one. An episode featured her leaving her luggage opened on the floor with her clothes scattered about. Her explanation for being untidy is it save her time to look for her clothes and why should anyone care about what she does.

Although this cycle's contestants are receiving more criticism than the competitors in cycle 1 this series is more interesting due to the human behaviors of some very volatile personalities. In some ways this season's contestants are more attractive. The chemistry of these tow elements make for a more dynamic and interesting show.

Among the prizes, are a three-month contract with Storm Model Managementin London, the chance to appear on the cover of Harper's Bazaar Singapore/Malaysia with fashion spread, a cash prize from FOX International Broadcast, a Subaru XV car, and the chance of being the new face of TRESemmé 2014 campaign.

New episodes of the show air Wednesday nights in East Asia on the Star World channel with repeats throughout the week. This is a worth watch IF you're interested in pretty girls, fashion, psychology or Asian style human behavior.
