AMERICAN IDOL RETURNS

You can grit your teeth you can do whatever you want but get ready as American Idol with AI judge Simon Cowell and his sidekicks Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson return to the air for the 2008 season beginning January 16th on the Star World channel.

The Contender Asia will also debut January 16th on AXN. It is billed as a Muay Thai/martial arts show with no rules.

The Contender Season 2 has shelf life as it has been rerun again on the AXN channel for the forth time that we can count. This series doesn't wear out as it shows what an underdog can do when they put their mind to it as exemplified by K-9 Bundrage when he wasn't picked when they choose the sides for two teams, the yellow and blue from 16 candidates.

Bundrage was called out from the beginning and challenged by a small Michael Clark the person who chose for the yellow team. Clark kept up his barrage of insults toward Bundrage who they referred to as a little Mike Tyson because of his massive body. They fought in the first fight which K-9 won.

After shutting up the loud mouth Clark who was sent home with his tail between his legs after learning a lesson of what humble means. Bundrage went on to the final four and finished third overall in the competition.

The show is in its final stages with two more final eight contenders to fight including Gary Balletto, Norberto Bravo, eventual winner Grady Brewer and Michael Stewart. That\at will be followed by the semifinals and final which should air on Wednesday. This is a worth watching for any boxing fan and those interested in human behavior.

CAMBODIA'S FRESHIE BOY & GIRL SHOW RETURNS

Cambodia's Freshie Boy & Girl show will return for the 2008 season when the shows producer Boonkerd Angamnuasiri changed his mind after saying at the end of last years 2007 final "James you have just seen the last Freshie show, I am tired." That was the bad news.

The good news is he changed his mind and THE SHOW WILL GO ON with some changes. The 2008 show will be televised on Cambodia's TV 5 after being carried on rival TV 3 since its inception. There will be a new co-host since Vanda Meas became a Mrs. and moved to Australia. Angamnuasiri has yet to make a decision who will host this season's program.

Applications will be accepted through January 20. They are furnishing applications at the entrance of the Paragon shopping center. An announcement will be January 31 of those who qualify for the contest.

As we previously stated regarding the Amazing Race USA, the Asian father and daughter team was the most interesting in this race simply because the father continually berates his daughter in front of people and she keeps taking the abuse and supporting him by stating on camera after the verbal abuse, "I LOVE YOU DAD."

The father suffered a setback along the way when he picked a hernia during one of the tasks. His abuse continued but surprisingly he has realized his faults and is now working with his daughter without embarrassing her in public and on an International television show audience that is viewed by millions of people around the world. The efforts are paying off as the two finished first in the last leg with four teams of two remaining.

The other interesting team is a grandfather who is 69 years of age and his grandson. The grandfather pointed out that he was 45 years older than most of the contestants but he would do his best to win the race. The grandpop has been doing the tough tasks while the youngster plays the role of cracking the whip. They results of their efforts are paying off as they finished third in the last leg of the race ahead of a much younger couple whom we refer to as the hippie couple since they resemble a style of dress that was popular during the 60' era and generation. NBA (National Basketball Association) games are televised in the Southeast Asia region on the Star Sports television Network on Friday and ESPN Saturday's. Start times vary depending on the start time in the region of the USA from where the games is televised. NFL (National Football League) from the USA is televised on a delayed basis Saturday at 12:30 PM and Sunday at 6 PM on the CNBC channel
