THAI LADY FLEECES $200,000 FROM SAILOR ROB

The TV series The Embassy Australia is one of my favorite TV series of all time. Since I study human behavior, this show exemplifies how stupid, ignorant and ill mannered people can be. The problem was with the regime changes at the Australian News channel ABC aka the Australian Channel it disappeared as did many other shows it once aired.

As perseverance would have it so does You Tube, in an elongated version. Once a two subject 30 minute version the You Tube version is four subjects in 46 minutes with no ads.

In the second half of the show that we reviewed last month is the sad story of Australian sailor Rob. Poor 63-year-old Rob fell in love with 39-year-old Thai lady that he met in a bar. He claims that she was not a bar girl… she was different.

After hanging out (and in) with the younger lass he went to her village and moved in with her. Much to his surprise he then found out one of her secrets… she had three children and one grand child that all needed to be cared for.

Rob wanted to help out and he believed that she wanted to help him. He believed her since she said she would help him for as long as he lived. Later he would find that that statement had a double connotation.

Rob helped by renovating her house and giving the family whatever they needed. As we noticed in the video there was a TV that was as large as the Israeli Wall… of course I'm exaggerating for fun. In reality the TV appeared to be four times the size of my 32" model.

After a few months Rob's ATM account was drained to ZERO. His lover then shut down the entry to her love hole. If he wanted to continue having service it would cost him 20,000 baht a month or $650 Australian = $21 a day.

The sailor was then threatened that if he wanted to leave it would cost him $3 million baht. The sailor was in a situation of being sent out to sea without a paddle. To compound things he had no money or a way to pay for her demands and threats.

That is clarified since many citizens in marginalized or poor nations think that westerners can reach out for help and money which is what the kidnapping trade counts on.

His solution was to sneak out of the house in the cover of night with just his backpack and head for the Australian Embassy for help.

As he was sharing his sad story with Embassy staff he reminisced how his money disappeared so fast without his knowing. He recalled his lady going to town one day and coming home with new braces on her teeth.

Thirty nine thousand baht for braces he exclaimed while tugging at his hair. Rob wasn't yelling or losing the plot he was simply trying to figure out what happened to his life!

He went on to explain that after the renovations to the house were done that more of the family moved in. He also noted that her ex husband lived only 100 meters from her house. He added that every day three of four men came to the door every day.

Then came the scary part. After he escaped she sent him emails saying that they knew where he was.

Rob was SOL ($#!t OUTTA LUCK) but his Embassy was there to help.

The plot really thickened when he revealed that he overstayed his visa a lot. When the Embassy staffer asked how long is a lot his reply was TWO YEARS.

The staff almost blew a gasket. Not only was their citizen ripped off without a pot to piss in he was in violation of Thai law. If he was stopped by police and questioned and they found out his history he would be arrested immediately and thrown in jail.

LISTEN UP… if its problems you're looking for sailor Rob has plenty to share.

But there's more. Sailor Rob seemed to be calm cool and collected but as he rolled out his story the Embassy staff were becoming more unglued than him. Sailor Rob was carrying a LOAD.

But here's more. The Embassy had to get and emergency passport for him since his was ruined. He had no money for a plane ticket back to Australia so they had to contact a family member to pay for it.

When Rob heard that he revealed another bombshell… HE WAS THE BLACK SHEEP OF THE FAMILY.

Whoa… Rob was full of it… problems that is.

No family member would pay for a ticket. When he was informed he replied… "I told you."

The Embassy persisted then found a family member to pay for the ticket. He took it calmly with little emotion.

The new passport was handled. The ticket was handled. The Embassy came to Rob's rescue.

Embassy staff went to the airport with the ticket to make sure that Rob would get on the plane and… HE WAS A NO SHOW.

Hey… listen there's a lot more to Rob's story but I'm tired and it would be more interesting for you to find out for yourself what happened to Rob. Was he arrested? Was he murdered by his ex girlfriend and her gangster friends?

This is a story that's hard to believe. This is one story that belies the saying whatever happens in Thailand STAYS IN THAILAND!
