AMERICAN IDOL'S DEMISE - JUDGES CAN'T GET IT RIGHT

To see American Idol fall from grace is like the day you found out that there was no Santa Claus or Easter Bunny. But believe this…. American Idol is coming apart at the seams.

This past week was in your face time between the now bold host Ryan Seacrest and his majesty judge Simon Cowell. After Sumo wrestler sized Michael Lynche did a credible job performing Cowell criticized his dancing and movement on stage as being too corny and a bit desperate. Seacrest questioned Cowell's comments to which Cowell replied, "Would you like me to talk to him or to talk to you?"

At that point Seacrest came off the stage walked up to the judges desk and put his face about two nose lengths away directly in front of Cowell's and said, I', just trying to help him out a little bit buddy. Are you Okay with that?"

Seacrest went on request that Cowell give some constructive advice. Cowell was stunned and noted that the scene was uncomfortable while asking Seacrest if he wanted to settle this in his (two story) trailer after the show.

It's tense times like these when you need when you need the Black Eye Peas to sing 'Where Is the Love' or have a Paula Abdul there to lighten things up a bit and tap Cowell on the arm and request Cowell to calm down but… the reality is…. Paula has been abolished to American Idol heaven.

This seasons discord on the program is taking on a life of its own as the tension is obvious and the bloom is definitely off the American Idol rose. It appears that some power that be has been passing down edicts which have changed the harmony and complexion of the previously entertaining show. It has now turned into a nightmare.

The smug Cowell has gone to the extreme of putting words into people's mouths. After one of our favorites Crystal Bowersox performed Cowell said, "This is the first time that I think that you were beaten by somebody and that was by Siobhan (Magnus). What you've got to learn is that when you think that you've got this competition sewed up that you've got to come out on this stage and kill."

The following day for eliminations Bowersox replied to Seacrest when he brought up Cowell's critique, that, "I never felt that way. Simon said that and I thank him for (saying) that..." Bowersox also asserted the same retort immediately after Cowell voiced his opinion on performance night.

Throughout the competition the judges have continually criticized the contestants of not knowing who they are or what type of artist they want to be by their poor song selections. In the contestants efforts to please the judges they change the type of material they perform and several have been eliminated by heeding the judge's advice

If there is a silver lining with the failure of quality control of this seasons American Idol the best thing is the harmony of the group ensemble singing on the results (elimination) night is superb. Every group vocal from the top 24, 20 and 16 have been excellent. These contestants have performed as a group better than any of the series that we have covered over the past five seasons.

Two weeks ago their performance was the weakest but not to the fault of the contestants but the AI producers who made a poor song selection by choosing "Haven't Met You Yet" by Michael Bublé. The first week sung by the top 24 singing "American Boy" by Estelle and second week sung by the top 20 "I Gotta Feeling" by The Black Eyed Peas was excellent performances and great song choices.

AMAZING RACE PAYBACK - POLICE WIN

As they say what goes around comes around and that is exactly what happened in last weeks Amazing Race. During the second leg of the race while the teams were in Chile an alliance was struck between a married Asian couple Joe and Heidi Wang and a lesbian couple. The Joe became petulant with two Undercover Detectives Michael Naylor and Louie Stravato Providence, Rhode .Island by telling the police they couldn't stand in line in the order they arrived at since they were holding that spot for the lesbians. The implication was as if he was going to do a Bruce Lee on them.

"You can't do that," the police responded. The Asian held his ground and the police gritted their teeth and toughed it out. Now my being from New Jersey I can assure you that there would be some payback and it came this past episode.

As all of the teams were traveling together by bus from Hamburg Germany to an undisclosed location in France the Asian was huffing and puffing about though he had a sore leg that he and his wife were a force to be reckoned with. The police overhearing this just grinned and reacted in a yea, yea, sure, sure manner and that they have to be taken down a peg.

It was time for the police to have their payback time. There was a blind U-Turn in the race meaning that a team in front could place the picture of a team they wanted to turn back and have to do the other task of the two choices all teams had. The blind meant that the team who made the choice didn't have to identify themselves. The police chose the Asians who when they arrived figured out it was the police since they were they only teams ahead of them at the time of the posting. Joe and Heidi were shocked and said that they thought they had a good relationship with the two policemen. Obviously they forgot about the attitude they had when they held the lesbians spot in line.

Their task was to decipher Morse code which they couldn't get as team after team passed them during their efforts thus were eliminated. The police who were next to last during the first two legs of the race have now finished first in the last two legs.

The moral of this story is BE NICE…
