THEIR PARTY'S OVER

It is a major shock that American Idol has told the truth for a change regarding this seasons talent is one of the best ever in the shows history. We can only address this topic since season 4. The programs self promotion is like the story of the boy who falsely cried wolf to the point where people disregarded his wolf plea screams when it really happened and the wolf ate him up. Idol has a tendency to fall into those deceptive practices.

In truth many of this season's contestants that failed to make it to the top 10 had the talent but failed in the show that counts the elimination of the top 24 to 10.

Most notably those with good voices and talent that America chose not to select for the top 10 include, Julie Zorrilla, Lauren Turner, Rachel Zevita, Clint Jun Gamboa and Tim Halperin. They failed to bring it when it was time to be brung.

Zorilla is incredible talented as a singer and musician with keyboards (piano) being her instrument. In the tests she stood out but in the top 24 she chose a song "Breakaway" by Kelly Clarkson that didn't suit her voice. Judge Randy Jackson took her to task after her performance and told her how bad she was compared to Clarkson's rendition of the song. This could have severely hurt her chances in the voter's eyes.

Jackson has improved since the panel has changed and he is taking on the role of the tough bad guy critic. This manner of critiquing is getting old and tired. His comparing current contestants performances with contestants of the past or current recording stars with Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey being the most mentioned is off the point of judging the talent standing in front of him.

It would be better is Jackson left this bullshit alone. If he has negative criticism it would be more constructive to focus on the contestant's talent and not drag them down by comparing them with others who are successful. If it's a positive critique then right on.

Why destroy and YOUNG talent with caustic critiques with comparisons with stars? It severs no purpose other than to massage Jackson's massive ego.

But back to Zorilla another mistake she made was what she chose to wear. It was too ballerina like and not the type of outfit that she previously wore.

The same applies to Zevita who in previous show had the sweet little girl next door look. In the top 24 she came out with a sexy outfit and sang a bad girl song "Criminal" by Fiona Apple. She looked great and sounded OK though her excessive movement around the set put her off key in several spots on the song. It was her sexual type performance and going away from the image that got her to the top 24 that put the judges off. Turner was compared to a young Bette Midler with her strong voice and slightly stout physic. Her singing was strong enough to get her through with here rendition of Etta James's "Seven Day Fool." Her exit was due to semi negative judge's critiques and being in a strong group of contestants.

Halperin and Gamboa also feel into the too many good singers trap numbers game. Halperin is the stronger of the two being a musician and has a more versatile talent and voice. He was a strong competitor early on but not as strong in the top 24 and he was in previous performances.

Gamboa has a good voice but again was stuck in a numbers game where there are too many others with a better chance to win. Both of these singers have better voices than a couple that advanced but as they say YOU WIN SOME AND YOU LOSE SOME. The other axiom that applies is WINNERS NEVER QUIT. These two have winning talent and their time will come.
