THE PEACEABLE MAN DENNIS RODMAN ROCKED THE WORLD

You can say what you want about Dennis Rodman as he's probably heard it all already but one thing you can't say is that he is not a peaceable man. In his much talked about visit to North Korea and making friends with the nation's leader Kim Jong Un Rodman has accomplished what American politicians can't talk in a friendly manner get something accomplished. For two weeks this was the big TV news in most parts of the world.

The irony is that US President Barack Obama is currently visiting Israel a nation that came about via war crimes in 1948 that included the invasion, murder of innocent people, occupying their land, terrorizing bordering nations, dictating policy in the region and defying the United Nations by continuing to build in Palestinian territory. These are crimes that the UN and the US supports but the US prefers to threaten North Korea about their defying Western nation's dictates of what they should and should not do. North Korea hasn't invaded another country, murdered its people and occupied its land. Nothing justifies the wrongs that North Korea has perpetrated but have they committed the crimes that Israel has? Do they posses the nuclear weapons that Israel has?

After receiving years of threats from the US government North Korea opened their arms to welcome a peaceable man who came with a warm smile, a warm hand shake which broke the ice and established friendship as he embraced their nation's leader. If you are in the unawares that man of peace is Dennis Rodman a man who has been brutalized and criticized in his own country. In North Korea they didn't take away what Rodman has done on the basketball court they gave him respect something that Rodman seldom receives in his America.

Following his trip several US politicians were interviewed and none gave him credit for his efforts they chose to ridicule him. In doing so they exposed the insecure and hard line rhetoric of American politics that endorse and support Israel's murdering ways in the Middle East while possessing what is believed to be the world's second largest nuclear weapons cache.

As a five time member of NBA championship teams Rodman's skills have been overshadowed by his eccentric behavior. From our experience and point of view the behavior is that of a person seeking attention.

That negativity of Rodman was not displayed in North Korea nor was Rodman judged for his emotional outbursts throughout his career. In North Korea he was the MAN and a former NBA basketball player. The purpose of the trip was to do a special documentary for HBO. Rodman was accompanied by three members of the Harlem Globetrotters. They played with some North Korean players while Rodman sat in the front row with the North Korean leader.

Kim Jong Un and Rodman drank and were merry while the American media took time to ridicule the Rod-Man labeling him almost everything but a traitor. What Rodman proved is that one can get more with honey than with vinegar. He proved that friendly speaking Americans can be accepted by North Koreans and are not the villains the American media portray them to be. He proved that there is an open channel for communication and understanding that doesn't warrant threats.

Yes the N. Koreans resent being bullied and threatened by the US government in their efforts to dictate what they can and cannot do. Yes the North Koreans don't do everything according to Western standards but they can communicate in a friendly manner. Rodman proved that one can achieve more carrying an olive branch than carrying an assault weapon and talking threatening words.

Rodman followed up our sentiments in a television interview when he called on Obama to share his love of basketball with the young N. Korean leader. He noted the US should start that way and warm up the relations between the two countries.

On ABC's "This Week" Rodman said Kim told him, "I don't want to do war.

With those sentiments clearly stated America continues to promote anti N. Korean propaganda and denigrate Rodman's achievement. He showed how easy it is to communicate as opposed to America's tactics to be standoffish and try to intimidate.

Rocket launch or not Rodman exemplified that peace is the way to get things done not tough talk and threats which accomplishes nothing more than a harsh and heated response.

The NBA is promoting basketball throughout the world. Could there be a better way to break down barriers than having an NBA exhibition game played in N. Korea? That ball is on the NBA decision makers' court.

The private sector can do more to accomplish peace between nations than the US government can. With limited funds Elon Musk's Space X is doing a more effective and efficient job of venturing into space than NASA. The NBA has helped in breaking down political barriers in China due to the Chinese love of basketball.

It's always puzzled me why journalists and news agencies spend so much time exposing the chinks in Dennis Rodman's amour. What is the point? What are they trying to accomplish in beating him down?Who has he hurt? What is their (media) problem? What are they trying to accomplish in beating him down? Surprisingly CNN's Piers Morgan gave Rodman a positive comment when he noted that what Rodman did was a good thing before he went on to rip the Raging Bull.

Parting notes from the Rodman was that people should live in peace which is not the position of the US government that prefer to be involved in WARS to promote and support the self interest of arms manufactures. Wars are big business and create jobs thus it conflicts with Rodman's history of playing a game to being joy to numerous fans around the world... even in North Korea a country America portrays as the scum of the earth. Rodman did what Condoleezza Rice and Hillary Clinton couldn't do... let that be some food for thought.

The bottom line is why does America choose to be entertained by Israel the world's original and true terrorists while turning their back on an intelligent line of communication with North Korea? Wouldn't it be better to adhere to what John Lennon and the 60's generation professed... MAKE LOVE... NOT WAR.
