Video Beat Part 2 - AMERICAN IDOL'S # 1 POMPOUS @$$

James Loving - National Radio Text Service

Cowell wasted no time of embellishing his being outspoken and outrageous with derogatory remarks to Kris Allen and Allison Iraheta. It seems that as America's most highly rated television program gains in popularity with each passing season Cowell's irresponsible remarks increase. To Cowell it appears that he thinks the show is about him and not the contestants. It raises the question that since he is held in such high regard by the Fox television network why call the show American Idol when it is turning into the SIMON COWELL SHOW. - Recommended TV Listings

PLEASE PASS THE BARF BAG 4 COWELL

Once again American Idol judge Simon Cowell appears to be diligently working at improving his image as the world biggest pompous @$$.

Again the self perceived magnificent one made statements that were out of the box and unfair to some of the sows contestants. Cowell wasted no time of embellishing his being outspoken and outrageous with derogatory remarks to Kris Allen who opened the show this past week singing "The Way You Look Tonight' adhering to a theme of songs from the Rat Pack era equating to standard songs from the 50's which is roughly 30-40 years prior to this season's contestant's births.

The Cowell bowels rang out and he said, "It thought it was a little bit wet (his performance). You're like taking a well trained spaniel for a walk. It's safe." When host Ryan Seacrest asked Cowell what he meant by being wet Cowell had no intelligent reply all he could think of was "It's not dry," which indicates his diarrhea of the mouth equates to nothing of substance.

Allison Iraheta was his next victim as he inserted his negativity by saying that he didn't think she could win the competition. Iraheta turned 17 the day before her performance. "Do you think that you can win this competition at this stage? She then replied "I think I can. I think all of us have a chance right now." To which Cowell replied, "I don't feel that belief in you still. I have a horrible feeling that you could be in trouble tonight,"

Prior to Cowell's comments to Iraheta DioGuardi said to her "That was a gut wrenching, deep emotional way beyond your year's performance." After Cowell's comments to Iraheta DioGuardi said to Simon, "I love you but you are crazy."

Why is Cowell putting a contestant on the spot by asking them in front of millions of television viewers if they thought they could win the competition? That is irrelevant. Their being on the show indicates they believe they can win or they wouldn't be there particularly when the judges chose them from thousands of applicants in the audition shows.

On previous episodes Cowell has made similar negative remarks to certain contestants that he seems to personally dislike. His remarks are unrelated to the contestant's performance. Often he makes comments about the clothes they wear. That raises the question is this a beauty contest or a singing contest.

Obviously Cowell has lost the plot of the show blinded by his massive ego. It seems that as America's most highly rated television program gains in popularity with each passing season Cowell's irresponsible remarks increase. He has more time to make comments than any other judge as well as having the tie breaking power when there is a 2-2 draw among the judges.

Cowell reversed his field with his compliments to Matt Giraud after the contestant received negative reviews from Randy Jackson and DioGuardi, "I thought you were absolutely brilliant." He then made indirect condescending remarks about Iraheta and Allen by stating that he was more pleased with his performance than the first two meaning Allen and Iraheta.

Other than being obnoxious and controversial what has Cowell done in the music industry to warrant such a haughty position on the show that Fox television and American Idol producers have bestowed upon him? As a musician his music career wasn't so great. The band he was in released one album that wasn't a hit. In finding talent his greatest claim to fame is Leona Lewis who isn't that great and most certainly she doesn't possess the talent of Jennifer Hudson whom Cowell ridiculed and made derogatory remarks about she was "out of your depth," on the program that ultimately led to her being voted off the show in the 7th position.

Cowell is foul and a poor image and role model for the youth of America to be exposed to. Why would any responsible network permit such a negative influence to be telecast? Oh… we forgot… greed and money and it's owner Rupert Murdoch is Australian.. By not keeping Cowell in check with his irresponsible behavior Fox television is being negligent.

Though we are suspicious about how the votes are tabulated with this week Seacrest saying that 45 million votes were cast within a two hour time period indicating amazing unheard of to us technology Amercian voters had opinions conflicting with Cowell's.

Of the five remaining contestants Iraheta was voted in the top 2 with Danny Gokey. Of the bottom three Allen was the first saved and all the praise Cowell gave to Giraud was wasted as he was eliminated.

To Cowell it appears that he thinks the show is about him and not the contestants. It raises the question that since he is held in such high regard by the Fox television network why call the show American Idol when it is turning into the SIMON COWELL SHOW.

WORLD'S UNTOLD STORIES - KILLING FIELDS LONG ROAD TO JUSTICE

Justice and human rights are the focus of CNN's 'Killing Fields: Long Road to Justice' half hour news feature which is a must watch. The program reveals Cambodia's problems dealing with responsibility, integrity and the allegations of corruption in the Khmer Rouge trials.

A Killing Fields interrogator Ta Chan who was responsible for the torture of prisoners is exposed on program. He refused to be interviewed for the feature but CNN obtained archive footage of him grinning and proudly showing one of his prisons in a province outside of Phnom Penh where he detained those to be tortured and most likely murdered. Chan remains free and has never been punished for his participation in the deaths of 1.7 million Cambodians in the genocide. Neighbors in his village were interviewed and expressed their fear of the man who played in the part of the deaths of some of their family and loved ones.

The program notes that by the end of the year US $100 million will have been spent on the trail of ONLY five Khmer Rouge leaders. The telecast points out that much of the money is being siphoned off by government officials to the trials Director of the Office of Administration. On camera an employee explained that employees were instructed to give kickbacks in cash between US $30/40 thousand a MONTH to their boss.

A front page story in the weekend issue (Sat/Sun May 2-3) of the Cambodia Daily named that Director as Sean Visoth who denied the charges in an email that he sent to CNN. The Cambodia Daily story notes that he has been absent from the courts since November 2008

The back story not televised but included in the Cambodia Daily piece is that due to the corruption allegations the UN Development Program froze their funding of the trial. The Cambodian government has expressed concern that if more people are tried than the five currently on trial that another civil war could break out. They also expressed their hope the trials will run out of money and be done with.

The CNN's 'Killing Fields: Long Road to Justice' program repeats several times throughout the week. The initial telecast was Friday May 1. Check your local listings for the time and date in your area.
