FIFA NEWS - During the FIFA Women's World Cup 2023: FIFA Museum exhibition in Sydney

As 32 teams strive for glory in Australia and New Zealand, visitors will be invited to step into the stories of those who took destiny into their own hands and called the shots that led the women's game to greatness, today and beyond

Friday July 7, 2023

The FIFA Museum is proud to announce its upcoming special exhibition "Calling the Shots: Faces of Women's Football" in collaboration with Hyundai Motor Company, which will coincide with this year's FIFA Women's World Cup™ in Australia and New Zealand. The exhibition will be held at the FIFA Fan Festival™ in Tumbalong Park, Sydney, from 20 July to 20 August 2023.

"Calling the Shots: Faces of Women's Football" will focus on the people who have shaped what it means to play football - from all facets of the game. They are the organisers, players, coaches, and fans who have inspired women to lace up their boots. They are the passionate individuals who have defined the love of the game on their own terms, leading the way for future generations.

As 32 teams strive for glory in Australia and New Zealand, visitors will be invited to step into the stories of those who took destiny into their own hands and called the shots that led the women's game to greatness, today and beyond.

Iconic Winner's Trophy on display

The centrepiece of the exhibition will be the FIFA Women's World Cup 2023 Winner's Trophy, on display on selected days. The Trophy will be accompanied by a spectacular immersive film that looks back at the tournament's rich history, as well as a spectacular new display of 'The Rainbow of Shirts', featuring the national team jerseys of all 32 teams competing in this year's tournament.

Key highlights will be the stories of the resilient and passionate individuals and teams, brought to life through unique, historic objects, that illustrate women's passion and love for the game and how impact can be created at all levels of the sport.

FIFA Museum and Hyundai team up once again

This year marks the fourth collaboration between Hyundai and the FIFA Museum following the special World Cup exhibitions held in Moscow (2018), Paris (2019) and Doha (2022). They will also share their campaign, "Goal of the Century - how far we've come", on site. This year, Hyundai's Goal of the Century (GOTC) campaign expands on its previous efforts to create a sustainable world by focusing on social inclusivity for women.

The campaign embraces womanhood by not only supporting the FIFA Women's World Cup 2023, but also celebrating the legacy and history of women's football. Looking back at how far women's football has come, Hyundai provides an optimistic view of the future, which fosters inclusivity and equality within sport. With FIFA aiming to inspire, unite and empower women and girls around the world, Hyundai has long been supporting the game since 1999 and will continue the journey together, ensuring that everyone scores their goals.

"Fans from all over the world attending the exhibition will be witnessing another incredible chapter in the history of women's football, which has been making extraordinary development. We are proud to stand here with all the players, staffs, and supporters who made this possible", explains Sungwon Jee, Senior Vice President and Global Chief Marketing Officer at Hyundai Motor Company.

"We are delighted to host this significant exhibition," says Marco Fazzone, Managing Director of the FIFA Museum. "Thanks to Hyundai, we can once again celebrate and share football heritage and culture with the world. This exhibition is a unique opportunity to show the great strides women's football has taken over the past century. We will delve into the stories of the pioneers and game-changers who have been at the forefront of the remarkable achievements and developments of recent decades and show the diverse protagonists behind the evolution of the women's game. We can't wait to open our doors to football lovers from around the world as the cultural highlight of the FIFA Fan Festival in Sydney".

"Being present in Australia for the first time is another big milestone for the FIFA Museum and its successful development to further grow internationally. We are very grateful for our long-standing partnership with Hyundai, who will bring this new exhibition to the FIFA Fan Festival in Sydney. It will be a true cultural highlight for all football enthusiasts from around the world," says FIFA Chief Business Officer Romy Gai.

Admission is free. Opening hours will coincide with the FIFA Fan Festival.
