NBA DRAFT - NBA DRAFT

James Loving - National Radio Text Service

The Los Angeles Clippers won the first overall pick. The draft is scheduled for Thursday June 25th to be held in New York City at the WaMu Theater at Madison Square Garden.

CLIPS HAVE THE CHOICE

Monday June 22, 2009

The Los Angeles Clippers have the first overall pick in this Thursdays (June 25th) NBA draft unless they make a deal and trade it away. Should they retain the pick they have expressed an interest in Blake Griffin a 6'10" forward from the University of Oklahoma.

Of the 14 teams who failed to qualify for the playoffs they were involved in the draft lottery. The teams with the worst record had the greatest number of ping pong balls in a machine of which one was randomly selected. The Cleveland Cavaliers the team with the best regular season record had the fewest number of balls. The Clippers had a 17.7 percent chance of winning the number one selection. Overall there will be two rounds of selections with 60 players being drafted by the 30 NBA teams.

The Clippers had Griffin on a pre-draft workout earlier this month and were very impressed. Griffin averaged a double-double (points and rebounds) in his sophomore season at Oklahoma. During the workout his mid range shooting left something to be desired.

Providing that there are no deals made prior to the draft the draft selections order is:
