There are five individuals which our readers paid the most attention. One is a killer, another an instigator and inciter for hatred and wars, one who is against war and entertains people by playing sport and making films, another who entertains via the written word and last but most certainly least and man that saves children's lives by giving them free health care

SOME SHOCKERS APPEAR HERE

This month we took a look at the most read stories of all time. There are some shockers particularly the story that took the number one spot. Readers have paid particular attention to our stories on four individuals with divergent interests. One has devoted his life to saving children by giving them free health care so they can live. One individual is dedicated to killing children and starting wars. Another is devoted to spreading fear and instigating wars for CNN. That's how three of the subjects in our most read stories deal with life.

To join the individual that is positive and save children there are two who entertain the public one through sport and film the other with the written word. Who are they… stay tuned.

Overall there were four features that made the list with all three being repeaters from the earliest stage of our publishing our NR TOP 10 rankings a decade ago.

The three repeaters are Angkor Wat, Dr Beat Richner, he is the individual who offers free health care for the poor Cambodian children. Pulitzer Prize winner Jim Murray is another top feature and he is the individual that entertains people with the written word. Murray notched the 3rd position and was closely followed by Richner who took 4th while Angkor Wat is the other feature that locked down the 6th spot.

Cambodia theme content was the big winner in capturing five spots on the chart. Football was king as our feature on Hok Suchetra leaped up to the 2nd spot. Cambodian Football Rising From the Ashes was our very first every chart topper and continues to rule in earning the 5th spot. As a result sports related content took four NR TOP 10 spots.

Three stories from 1998-99 made the charts. Murray was one of the three but surprisingly Dennis Rodman made the list with a story that we published in 1999 and forgot about and it is a story that we have never seen chart. Rodman has made some noise on the listings in other stories in the past but this was a shocker. The title to his most read hot story is The Worm Returns. What' really strange is that the Dennis Rodman Story was a previous chart maker but failed to chart in the long term.

Another feature story at the time but would qualify for our later to be published Video Beat columns was our review of the HBO film The Rat Pack in 1998. To put this into perspective the now 38-year-old editor of the Cambodia Daily was only 11-years-old at the time. With that notation it leads to our top story which we intentionally withheld.

The top story is from our Phnom Penh column published in 2005 titled FRESHIE CONTEST'S HIP-HOP GENERATION. This rating is the biggest puzzler. It has charted in the past but only this past year. What's the attraction is not clear. After reviewing the column to refresh our memory what jumps out is the column also has a perspective of how loud, rude, drunken foreigners from NGO's are disrespectful to the neighborhoods they invade in Cambodia.

This column tells the tale of how NGO types and their colonialist lifestyle parasites partied all night enjoying themselves with loud, blaring music throughout the night until dawn at the Gasolina restaurant and bar while in doing so, had no respect for their neighbors. They made noise until a women was leaving her home at 5:30 AM with her food cart to earn a living. If she was able to sleep she was probably the only one in the vicinity that did.

Following our report we received an email from one of the party goers who took exception to our perspective. He was adamant that they were in the right to have a loud party because they do it in Mexico. Apparently he was so drunk that he didn't realize that he was making a disturbance in Cambodia. He went on the say that he knew there were laws in America against making that much noise until dawn but his rationale was that they weren't in America. Obviously he failed to take into account that he wasn't in Mexico either.

The most important point is that these drunken scum bag foreigners failed to respect that there were children in the neighborhood that went to school. At the time there were four in the building that we were in. None of these children were able to sleep.

If there is a driving force of interest from that chart topping column, it is this topic. As for the Freshie lead to the column, it was a fluff piece and it is questionable that it was capable of attracting a strong readership. The twist is at the time we covered the Freshie contest there was a strong interest.

The 2005 contestants was the most talented of all of the contests that we covered as journalists as well as participating as a judge the following seasons. We dropped out in the middle of the 2008 contest when we became suspicious that the contest was manipulated prompting us not to write about it since. The Hip Hop aspect of this chart topping column… well ahh… maybe that was a driving force but we doubt it.

Two of the most interesting subjects are all about the same topic of disrespect… ISRAEL. We were attracted to this subject after hearing CNN's Wolf Blitzer going on and on about Israel and grilling presidential candidates about what was their position on Israel.

His behavior and promoting Israel raised a number of red flags thus, we started to investigate the Wolf Man to find out that he is a former Israeli journalist and he lost family members in the holocaust. Our story INVESTIGATING WOLF BLITZER & CNN earned 8th place in our NR TOP 10 ALL-TIME ratings.

The most remarkable rise in all of our NR TOP 10 ratings is that of Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netyanhu with our story ISRAEL'S BENJAMIN NETANYAHU - The New BEAST of DEATH.

What makes this a shocker is all of the other stories on the NR All-time charts have years of history behind them. Netanyahu's The New BEAST of DEATH story bolted up the charts almost immediately after only being published this past July, 2014. His behavior has aroused the interest of our readers and that story has remained on the charts every month since it was first published.

We find it interesting to look at the photos of the individuals on this page as they are all involved with people. Dr. Beat Richner is trying to save peoples lives, Murray and Dennis Rodman entertain them, Blitzer scares and provokes them and Netanyahu murders them.

PRESS RELEASES & COMMENTARY

This is a stretch as this month we are including commentary that was the focus which followed our lead in to it. The reason why it falls into a gray area is that activist Theary Seng sent us her views on the Cambodian government in a press release format. Her thoughts titled by us is: FORMER KHMER ROUGE PRISONER THEARY SENG SPEAKS OF KHMER ROUGE TRIBUNAL INJUSTICE. It was so widely read that it would have made the regular TOP 10 ratings but it is not a dedicated column and not National Radio content in its entirety.

The NBA took the top spot with their press release American Express and The NBA Launch New Digital Destination Showcasing NBA Players' Personal Passions. That release is assisted with a link from their logo on the front page. That drives home the point that logos work.

The other chart qualifier was Yahoo & Live Nation Entertainment. Since we was featured in the presentation we noted that Israeli born Gene Simmons is most notably known for his long tongue as the bass player in the 80's rock group KISS, to put some sizzle on the steak. PR SUBS That list remains consistent but we added travel since we devoted much of that section to press releases. Out original content goes into Travel Tips. FIFA is also a new addition.

ARCHIVES

Given that this month all of our stories are from Archives except Blitzer and Netyanhu we are including the next four stories that almost made the charts. The most surprising entry in this category is Thai Police. This is an old story in which we revealed how Thai police can go to excess with their power, particularly towards foreigners which was published over a decade ago.

Lakers Bludgeon is no surprise since it has charted in the past. This story is tainted as it later was revealed that some NBA referees were fixing games, many that involved the Los Angeles Lakers.

Asian Equation is our take on what Western pop music Asian teens enjoyed the most. This story has charted regularly in the past during the early stages of our NR TOP 10's formation. Racist Radio has been a regular chart maker and it has returned. This article reveals the ugly racist side of the journalism business.

NOTE: All press releases are subject to deletion one year following the date published
