THE STORY THAT ROCKED THE WORLD & GOOGLE

Our feature THE BAD BOY GOT HIS DUE on Dennis Rodman was one of our two fastest movers this month as it rocked up the charts to the 4th position within two days of our release. We published the story Saturday July 23rd and took our sample July 25th. Obviously there are plenty of somebody's out there that like the WORM who as we stated was elected to Basketball's Hall of Fame despite his negative image. Rodman rocked the charts but China's Yao Ming dominated.

Yes Ming officially retired July 20th and that was news all around the world. The strange thing is that not only did our story THE MING DYNASTY IS OVER take the top spot but our title word for word was ripped off the China's CCTV NEWS the English language version. Intellectual property... What's that? Well at least it appears that it was good enough to steal. OR... is this a case of great minds think alike?

We published our story on Saturday July 16th. It seems that they copied our title with their report after his retirement July 20th. Place that in the GO FIGURE FILE.

But a bigger story emerged after we wrote another piece on Ming Thursday July 21st titled Does Yao Have the Right Stuff? The focus of the piece was regarding the ethics and professionalism of the people surrounding Ming in his private business life.

We also noted the link to what appears to be bad or misleading information from NBA Asia. Conversely we praised Ming on his outstanding play and contributions to the NBA and representing his country in giving it a more positive image around the world due to his conduct and positive image.

We also noted that Ming was worthy of being elected to the NBA's (Naismith) Hall of Fame since he made such a major contribution to the NBA and the game in general. We said that he brought the world together much the same way Michael Jackson did it with his music. But the sour note in that piece pulled a trigger in a shot that reverberated around the world. For years we have been listed on the first page on Google's now 1.3 billion listings for national radio. After that story we fell off the charts completely. The result being was to investigate why.

Admittedly we're not in the go along to get along business. We prefer to deal with the truth. As they say THE TRUTH HURTS. The circumstances raised the questions what up with that and who is behind the restrictions.

Since Google isn't the only source for checking Internet traffic information we dug in our heels to see what people are reading from out NR site. The Top 10 wasn't the issue we had to dig below the surface and see what stories were getting the most play.

What we found was that the NBA section jumped up the list to the number one position from the 9th spot. Secondly there were several searches on Ming with a story that we wrote in 2004 getting a lot of hits. It pointed out his play in the 2004 NBA All-Star game. Also getting hits is the story we did this past January YAO MING REMAINS # 1 TO NBA FANS.

The strongest piece of evidence was the DOES YAO HAVE THE RIGHT STUFF story getting major attention. The question is could the attention be coming from the NBA, China or Ming's representatives.

The Google ratings are coming out of Hong Kong which is the home office of NBA Asia. It's no secret that Hong Kong has returned to China's control. So it raised another question is this about say what you want to hear or tell it like it is?
