NGO'S - GREEDY, SEEDY OR...

Cambodian children are sold into prostitution by their parents. Some NGO's are doing something about it by creating a business and others teach and provide jobs. Other NGO's raise millions of dollars in donor money and.... just talk about it. OPERATION SMILE GIVES WITHOUT ASKING - COMING... INNOCENCE LOST - (NR Photo)

NR TOP 10 November 2009 - CHANGES AT THE TOP - TELEVISION RETURNS

James Loving - National Radio Text Service

In a surprise listing the Phnom Penh October Part 2 column took the second position. The interesting thing about this article is that it was purposely split into two parts to identify our reader's interest - There were radical changes in our Sections Most Visited. After several months off the charts our SPORTS NOTES section has bolted on to the scene to take the number two spot

THE SEASON OF CHANGE

Seasonal or not the television section and columns have returned to the charts taking a prominent role and four of the Top 10 spots. Last season it was the Dream Academy stories that spiked the interest of our readers when contestant Laarni LoSala was unmercifully demeaned and embarrassed in front of an international television audience only to overcome the abuse and win the competition. Her story the Persecution of Laarni took 5 of 10 Spots in our September, 2008 NR Top 10.

Given this new television season the attention apparently has turned to American Idol as the infamous Bikini Girl Katrina Darrell who took the top spot. The article also noted another American Idol HOTTIE Antonella Barba who had her 15 minutes of fame, before clashing with AI judge Simon the 'Merciless' Cowell and her eventual demise on the program. Two other American Idol focused columns also made the list. AMERICAN IDOL'S FINAL 13 and AMERICAN IDOL - SAY WHAT? THE HEAT IS ON - Part 2 joined the Bikini lady as being the most interesting AI stories.

Sports took five of the Top 10 positions with our November Sports Notes column Japanese Fire Works - MVP Hideki Matsui helps Yankees Win World Series taking the third spot as well as being our fastest mover to the charts. Lionel Messi, David Beckham, the frequent changes of coaches of the Thai national team and Ronaldo were the sports subjects of interest. In a surprise listing the Phnom Penh October Part 2 column took the second position. The interesting thing about this article is that it was purposely split into two parts to identify our reader's interest.

Part one is the basic column regarding Cambodia's Water Festival and the concerns of spreading Swine Flu. Part two features out Top 3 Phnom Penh stories as well as a HOT BUTTON. That hot button was the FBI using our title Innocence Lost for their program in hunting down pedophiles. Coincidence or not more will come of this story.

Larry King rises again as he took the fifth position with his interview of Iran President Mahmud Ahmadinejad in our column titled LARRY KING ALMOST SPOT ON. The strange thing about that column the subject matter of Part 1 was ACTOR DAVID CARRADINE FOUND DEAD IN BANGKOK. It raises the question why politics rules over mysterious deaths of Americans in foreign lands?

FIVE NEW ENTRIES MOST VISITED SECTIONS

International football (SOCCER) has moved up the charts one spot to take over the number one position of sections most visited. After several months off the charts our SPORTS NOTES section has bolted on to the scene to take the number two spot. It is one of the five new entrants to the charts this month that includes Business (4th), Television Reviews (8th), Cambodia (9th) and Features (10th).

The key stories in business since our previous ratings period were China's gearing up for tourism, Warren Buffet's views on the economy and former Chelsea and Manchester United FC's Chief Executive Peter Kenyon moving on from Chelsea.

Given it's that time again with a new NBA season the NBA has bolted up the charts rising from the 10th spot to fifth. The big noise there is the TV schedule for the Southeast Asian region and the unhappy Allan Iverson who left the Memphis Grizzlies for personal reasons after playing in only three games for the club and Monday agreeing with the club to relive him of his one year contract.

Travel tips returns after two months off the charts by taking the seventh position. Our television review section returns to the list after several months off the charts. Out Cambodia section also retuned to the list after two months out of the ratings and our Features section also made a return to the charts after being absent for several months.

NOTE:

The Television section from 2007 almost made the charts taking the number 11 ranking. What's that about? It's up to you, read on…

ARCHIVES

With our World Series story of Japan's Hideki Matsui's success and the beginning of the NBA season we are adding two stories to our Archives selections both published in 1998. For the NBA we revive NBA Trivia of the Philadelphia Connection in the NBA. Also Matsui's success contradicts the unprofessional statements made by a Los Angeles, California USA sports talk radio show host regarding Japanese in Major League Baseball. Therefore Racist Radio is another addition to the list.
