THE BRAIN DRAIN… GO FIGURE

The buzz was and is what Tom Brady is going to do with his football career being an unrestricted free agent. The question is will he continue to play on at 45 years old or take up a position in the broadcast booth. There has been some conversation that if he continues to play his most likely landing spots are the Miami Dolphins, Las Vegas Raiders, New York Jets or return to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The results of his production with the Bucs are in. In three seasons, Brady has led the team to a Super Bowl championship and two division titles. There's a track record of winning.

Throughout this season, the Buccaneers were weakened by injuries to wide receivers, linemen and defensive backs. The question is with the decimation of his offensive line this season resulting in their worst record with Brady what can the future hold if the weakness in the offensive line continues. Brady needs better protection and the Bucs need more offensive line depth.

The offense is too dependent on the passing game. Their running game needs improvement to have a more balance offense and to take the pressure off Brady. Brady does not want to drop back and pass 50 times a game at this stage in his career.

In pro football speak Brady is older than dirt. In the world of reality he still has what it takes to be a winner. Despite the breakdown of an injury riddled team Brady continues to put up the numbers. He fished the season third in regular season passing yardage with 4,694. He trailed only the Kansas City Chiefs Patrick Mahome's 5,250 and the LA Chargers Justin Herbert's 4,739.

His 351 passing yards was second to the Bills Josh Allen's 352 in his only playoff game this season. The glaring problem is Brady passed 66 times for 35 completions in their 31-14 playoff loss to the Dallas Cowboys. Their weakness was prevalent as the Bucs ran only 12 times for 52.

When you go through the logic any move to another team the strongest possibility is Miami, it is believed may be concerned about Tua Tagovailoa being able to continue with his career since he seems to be susceptible to concussions. For logistics reasons Brady's ex-wife Gisele Bündchen built a house there and she is the mother of two of his children.

Should he take the broadcast option he would have more free time to live in an area where he can visit his children. Another location he may consider is to be located near his first child with actress Bridget Moynahan.

Although the Bucs finished this season with a losing 8-9 record Tampa has been amenable to his concerns. When Brady has expressed a desire for the team to sign a player or tinker with things on the offense, the Bucs have been more than willing to accommodate him. At this phase in his life, it isn't just about winning. It's about genuinely being happy every day. Tampa Bay provides that.

Many in the media have been raining on his parade regarding his age. Should he choose to play next season he will be 46 years old. Many pundits feel that his arm is not the question but his legs are. That may be the case but although the league is changing to teams needing a mobile quarterback the Bucs don't have to go that route if they repair the offensive line to give him adequate protection to have time to stand in the pocket.

FYI George Blanda holds the NFL record for longevity by playing in the league until the age of 48 just a month shy of his 49th birthday. The pro football Hall of Famer played 26 Professional Football seasons. George Blanda was one of the toughest players of all time was born again with the Oakland Raiders.

Brady has two women with his children in his life. In the game of football he had to deal with winning and then defeat only to come back and win over and over again. What do ladies and children have to do with Brady's life will factor in his future.

Whatever Brady chooses his talent remains strong as a player and his knowledge of the game would be a refreshing insight from the man that has seven Super Bowl rings on his resume as a broadcaster NFL football game analyst.

For a man that has led his teams to a record seven Super Bowl titles one thing is certain, whatever life choice he makes the man has proven… that he knows what he's doing.
