SPORTS NOTES - RONDA ROUSEY GOING HOLLYWEIRD

James Loving/National Radio Text Service

In the space of two years Rousey has risen from obscurity to being the most talked about athlete on the planet. Everyone knew about her except Floyd 'Money' Mayweather. Rousey has climbed the ladder of fame while Mayweather has defamed himself with his destructive behavior, childish antics and choosing weak competition for fights to enable himself to cheaply tie boxing great Rocky Marciano's unbeaten record of 49-0 while for Rousey it's about the glamour & glitter of Hollyweird

LOST @ THE BELL

Prior to the recent tragic events of former NBA star Lamar Odom's life Ronda Rousey was the focus of the sports media world. The strange thing about their lives is they have something in common, both went Hollyweird.

Hollyweird is a term I invented roughly two decades ago regarding athletes who lose the plot and get involved with trying to be a film, TV or recording star and basically treat their sport as an afterthought. They lose the plot and hunger to be the best athlete they can be and go along to get along with the fake Hollyweird crowd and hangers on to party on.

In the space of two years Rousey has risen from obscurity to being the most talked about athlete on the planet. Everyone knew about her except Floyd 'Money' Mayweather. Rousey has climbed the ladder of fame while Mayweather has defamed himself with his destructive behavior, childish antics and choosing weak competition for fights to enable himself to cheaply tie boxing great Rocky Marciano's unbeaten record of 49-0.

Rousey has stayed the course in her athletic career taking on the best that the UFC has to offer and defeating all challengers. The UFC has so much confidence in her talent and box office drawing power that they have scheduled her to face unbeaten Holly Holm November 15 in Melbourne, Australia. It is expected that the match will attract the largest attendance ever for a boxing/MMA event expected to be roughly 75,000.

Leading up to the fight Rousy's life has been in overdrive with coverage in the media. She has been targeting Mayweather for his disrespect of not knowing who she was and she challenged him to a fight.

The Money Man continues to not know who she is and prefers to spend is time and money hiring fat ass dancers to do a video in his hotel suite. His payoff was $3,000 each for 10 dancers equating to a $30,000 dance-off. It has been reported that Money had such a fine spread of food in his room that some of the dancers chose to remain with the boxing champion. Place that in the, oh my file.

During this time Rousey Ronda (Beach Boys please sing Help Me Ronda) was exposed as to having a relationship with fellow UFC fighter Travis Brown. Her mother Dr. AnnMaria De Mars has spoken out about her distaste of Ronda's coach Edmond Tarverdyan claiming that Ronda doesn't need him and that he didn't give Ronda the time of day for three months. Rousey's mother also states that Tarverdyan hit the jackpot in large part because Rousey chose him as a trainer and now feels committed to the gym where she won the championship and found so much success in MMA.

"I think Edmond is a terrible coach and I will say it publicly," DeMars said. "I think he's a terrible coach. I think he hit the lottery when Ronda walked in there. She was winning before she ever met him. She probably won 99 percent of the judo matches she ever fought in."

Rousey's mom is no slouch since she had a decorated Judo career and was the first U.S. citizen, male or female, to win a World Judo Championship (in 1984).

The flip side and entertainment side of Rousey is she recently appeared on the Tonight with Jimmy Fallon show to promote her film career and upcoming fight with Holm.

After being introduced she walked on to the stage wearing heavy makeup and wore a tight form fitting black dress that had wide slits down each side and a deep wide open V-neck thrust in the front, revealing so much cleavage that it was blurred out by the censors. The bottom line is that Rousey was that exposing a lot of her T & A. For those not in the know, we're talking tits and ass.

In the past Rousey has been offered to do nude photo spreads which she refused. She has been quoted as saying that her mother told her that whatever she did that it would not go away and that in time she would have to explain to her teenage children why she did that and have to live with it for the rest of her life. Apparently Rousey forgot about what her momma said or she has set new or new nude standards for herself.

Rousey might want too watch the film Forrest Gump and heed the advise Forrest's mom told him that "Stupid is what stupid does."

The thing is when you go Hollyweird your behavior and thinking changes. An individual can lose sight of who they are in trying to keep up with the Hollyweird crowd that have plenty of drugs to entice an individual with a weak mind.

In time the UFC may have to take a back seat to Rousey's thriving film career which includes her appearances in The Expendables 3 in 2014, Furious 7 and Entourage in 2015.

She has an upcoming role in "Mile 22" alongside Mark Wahlberg as well as starring in the lead in the upcoming "Road House" remake. Rousey is also being considered for play Captain Marvel in a planned film of the comic book action hero.

"I'm really looking forward to doing my first starring role opposite Mark Wahlberg," Rousey told ET recently ahead of shooting "Mile 22" in Indonesia in 2016. "Hopefully, by the time 'Captain Marvel' comes around I will have enough experience and skills in the field for them to really, seriously consider me," she added.

The strange thing about Rousey is that she has evolved from being a woman scorned who possessed a hateful personality to being accepted as a charming tough young lady with a warm personality.

Her rise to TV and film fame came about when she was the coach of a team on the Ultimate Fighter in 2013. Rousey's competitor as a coach was Miesha Tate whom she disliked. They had previously fought each other in Strikeforce resulting in Rousey's 5th MMA win after submitting Tate with and armbar in the 1st round.

When she met Tate on the set of the Ultimate Fighter she was surprised and angry since she thought her competition would be Cat Zingano who suffered a knee injury earlier that month which required surgery; therefore, Miesha Tate was picked to be the opposing coach on The Ultimate Fighter 18 against Rousey.

Throughout that competition there were numerous occasions where the two fighters would argue. The argument was settled following the completion of the TV show when the two met in a rematch at UFC 168 on December 28, 2013.

After going past the first two rounds, with Tate surviving an armbar attempt and a triangle attempt, Rousey finally submitted Tate via armbar in the third round to retain her Bantamweight Championship.

In an interview with the LA Daily News Rousey said she had lost muscle during her film commitments and not been able to regain her full strength for the Tate fight.

It was Rousey's muscle losing comment that is telling and indicates that her UFC career ending days are near. At 28-years of age she still has her good looks and bad ass body and her EARS are in good shape. Her upcoming fight with Holm will be her 13th in MMA. It raises the question how long can she maintain her looks if she continues to fight.

When you do the logic and math its apparent that she won't have the time to commit to serious training to fight at her level best as she will be too popped to pop and mentally depleted. Her life will be spread so thin that she will go the way of Manny Pacquiao who also put too much on his plate when he got involved with politics and performing as an entertainer. If you like Rousey as a fighter the end of her fighting career is near as she is going Hollyweird.
