POLICE WOMEN OF BROWARD COUNTY

This is an ohhhh pleaseee type of show as it depicts bad ass police women over acting their roles in as they claim to protect the public from… the BAD GUYS.

The series features four women, following them at their jobs as law enforcement officials and at home with their families. Throughout the show, the officers provide commentary on the particular incidents shown that they were involved in. Both seasons of the series features Julie Bower, Shelunda Cooper, and Andrea Penoyer. The first season featured Ana Murillo, who was replaced in season 2 with Erika Huerta.

Penoyer is the most annoying with her tough overly loud talk yelling at suspects to get on the ground, show me your hands, stop resisting etc. She always has a smile for the camera as her beefy male associates who are as big as the entire Seattle Seahawks defensive line are in many cases stomping on some drugged out or drunken withered individual who can hardly stand up let along resist arrest as his bad habits have rendered him half dead already.

Basically it's too much show biz and not enough professional police work. With the exception of Cooper they are all over the top and too full of themselves. In part they exemplify what is wrong about police. The departed Murillo from season 1 was the best of the bunch. She had personality and an interesting sense of humor that gave the show an interesting positive chemistry which it currently lacks with the focus now being OVERLY THEATRICAL and HARD ASS.

The show airs regularly throughout the week on the FOX CRIME Channel in the East Asian region.

Other police women shows include those from Dallas, Phoenix and Cincinnati. The ladies from Cincinnati are the most professional and civilized. The problem with that show is the Cincinnati setting presents an extremely drab environment.

BONDI VET

Last season for animal livers we were high on Billy The Exterminator but this season we are more enthused about BONDI VET on the BIO Channel.

Bondi Vet is a feel good Australian factual television series. It follows the lives of Dr Chris Brown at a commercial veterinary clinic in the Sydney suburb of Bondi Junction (near Bondi Beach), and emergency veterinarian Dr Lisa Chimes at the Small Animal Specialist Hospital (SASH), in the Sydney suburb of North Ryde.

Brown has a warmth about him that makes this series work. He appears to truly care about animals and his work. The way the show is edited is masterful as it makes the animals as much as star of the show as Brown. Our favorite is Mr. Wilson a Sharpei dog that had to have an operation on his eyelids so he could see or eventually he would go blind. Brown stitched his eyelids up and Mr. Wilson is now seeing life in a different light. THIS IS A WORTH WATCH.

As the US government often states sometimes you have to deal with people with blood on their hands. This is the case with the Discovery Channel series Saint Hood.

Having grown up in a neighborhood similar to those depicted in the series we can assure you this is as close to the bone as television crews will ever be permitted to film. When a candy ass individual asks someone from that kind of neighborhood where they come from, with their interest being background, not location, it's difficult to explain. A general response is they come from a background that is similarly depicted in the films Rocky, The Godfather or Good Fellas. For those that have lived in that environment there's nothing to talk about.

For centuries, Boston has been run by tough neighborhood crews that are in a constant battle for ultimate control and power. On the streets these crews are the law, the keepers of an old world way of life, running Boston's underworld with an iron fist. Now, for the first time ever Saint Hood is on the front lines of this never-ending turf war between Boston's oldest rival crews of Southie, Roslindale and Dorchester as they use any means necessary to maintain their stranglehold on one of the oldest cities in America.

These powerful crews vie for customers in the lucrative business of sports gambling. However, these businesses extend far beyond just taking bets. The crews claim to offer loans, move merchandise and solve "neighborhood" problems on their own terms.

Southie, the largest and most powerful crew in Boston, is run by the notorious Pat Nee, famed for his battles with gangster Whitey Bulger. In the series Bulger's name often comes up but the TV crews are advised not to talk about Whitey.

As the dominant crew, Southie looks to maintain their status quo, using their reputation - and force - to maintain order. The upstart Roslindale crew operates in a neighboring territory but is forced to pay Southie "rent" - a fee for operating - which has long been a source of tension. The "Rozzie" crew, wants to challenge Southie's power but knows there could be dire consequences. The smaller Dorchester crew finds themselves caught in the middle. They want to maintain their independent status but fear they'll be forced to pick sides if a Southie versus Rozzie battle erupts. It's a difficult position to be in, but it's the way of life on the streets.

This is a side of a society that exists under the radar. Saint Hoods gives a rare, never-before-seen look at the Boston bookie community and how the crew members work together to run their businesses.

As a musician I've worked in clubs in the Boston. For sure Boston is not DISNEYLAND. The types of characters that I grew up with and had to deal with as a musician are depicted in this series. The strange thing is if you know them they are mostly good guys that you don't dare to cross.

Personal experiences include working at a Boston in a club in the Washington and Boylston section then known as the combat zone. This area was not to be confused with the atmosphere of walking around the campuses of MIT or Harvard. It was infested with hustlers, drug dealers, pimps, prostitutes, murderers and thieves.

On our first day on the job the club's owner was released from prison after serving 10 years for manslaughter. We were the first band that he saw working in his establishment following his being set free. He most rightly didn't like our band and fired us on the spot on opening night and threatened our lives if we didn't leave. The decision was to contact our Musician Union reps who worked out the situation and we left after three days of a two week contract since we had a weekend job and a booking the following week when we returned home (300 miles away) which compensated for the financial loss.

In Dorchester we had another bad experience where we were fired but the club owner handled it differently by letting us know he wasn't happy and wanted us to leave at the end of the week of a two week contract. When we were loading out one of his employees stole our microphone stand, the employee was challenged in the basement where the stand was located. The employee said the stand belonged to the club. When the stand was turned upside down my initials were on the bottom. The club owner said take it and we departed. Given his expression the approximately 6'7" employee was not pleased.

The problem was we were staying at the home of one of the waitresses who liked us BUT the embarrassed and lost face employee knew exactly where to find us. The result was a very restless night of intermittent sleep with protection looming.
