AMAZING RACE ASIA FINAL

The Amazing Race ASIA FINAL is TONIGHT. The final three teams will battle it out for the US $100,000 1sr prize. There are several repeats throughout the week (see schedule below).

TYRA BANKS HOT

Top Model producer and former super model Tyra Banks appeared on the Larry King show this week complaining about pictures the Australian paparazzi took while she was walking on a beach in Australia.

They claimed that Banks gained 40 pounds. The pictures weren't that flattering as it showed Tyra as we the public has never seen before….. FAT!

The 31-year-old millionaire honed up to gaining weight but only 10 pounds and now weighs 160. She says since she gave up modeling in 2005 that she does have weight problems because she loves to eat.

She says her weight fluctuates between 10-15 pounds from 146 to 161. She pointed out that for her body frame and height that she can weigh up to 167 pounds and still be considered healthy. She noted that she weighed 126 pounds when she was at the peak of her modeling career.

BUT here's the shocking news and GOOD NEWS for men. She claims that she can't get a date and men seem to be intimidated by her.

Tyra…. Listen up… I'm up for that… I'll take on you weight and all. The problem is… what happened to your relationship with NBA basketball star Chris Webber? Hmmmmmmmm….

TRIVIA ANSWER

Simon Fuller. Fuller negotiated the contract for David Beckham to sign with the Los Angeles Galaxy of America's MLS (Major League Soccer).

Fuller also managed the Spice Girls in which Posh Beckham was a member.

The Englishman also is the producer of American Idol that features judge Simon Cowl who has made quite and name for himself as being a rude critic. Get the picture???

The 46-year-old Fuller also created the music group S Club 7.

February 4th (5th in Asia) is the Super Bowl the American Football championship game. The game will pit the Chicago Bears against the Indianapolis Colts.

This will be a first time that a black coach will be coaching in the game. But that's not all, there is a black coach on each team making it a double first. Lovie Smith is the Bears coach and Tony Dungy is the coach of the Colts.

The half-time show is always an interesting affair. That is where Janet Jackson made her revelation a few years ago. In the past Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston and Ray Charles have entertained at half-time. This year Prince will be on the show.

The Grammy Awards is the music industry's highest award. It will be televised live Feb. 11, 2007, from the STAPLES Center in Los Angeles, USA. In the USA the broadcast will be on the CBS Television Network at 8 p.m. (ET/PT).

Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition winner Kim Chu has matured from a shy girl to a talented young woman within the six months since winning her title.

The eighteen-year-old singer/actress appears as a regular on a TV series and also on the ASAP variety show that is televised on Sunday at noon on TFC (The Filipino Channel) and repeats at 11 PM.

Vocalist/actress Sarah Geronimo also 18 is the shows best singer. We call her the Philippines answer to Celine Dione. As she matures and develops her talent her future is bright.

The two-hour variety show is packed with talented Philippine entertainers. They usually sing songs in English. ASAP is a vibrant colorful show that is a must watch.

INTERNATIONAL FRESHIE'S

This year's Freshie contest had an interesting twist having two International competitors. Now that's what I call a major step towards Cambodia being a Democracy.

The Philippines TV shows recruit talent from around the world to try out for shows but Cambodia??? To me this was a first.

Twenty-year-old Ngov Sok Meng was born in Cambodia. He moved with his parents to Australia four years ago and attends school there. He wants to be a flight attendant.

Meng entered the contest at the urging of his uncle who lives in Cambodia. The uncle sent him an application Meng was approved by the Freshie judges thus returning him to Cambodia.

Since he didn't finish as one of the top three boys who will be under contract to Freshie for one year he plans to return to Australia to finish his education. Meng did win the boys Most Photogenic Award.

Sandy Wang is Chinese and was born in Hong Kong. Her parents moved to Cambodia four years ago. Her friends urged her to enter the contest. She won the Telecom Idol (knowledge of technology) Award.

The eighteen-year-old wants to be a model but her parents would prefer her to pursue a business career noting that in the modeling business it was difficult to find jobs. Wang is a fan of America's Top Model TV show.

Finishing second means that you didn't win the contest but it doesn't mean that you can't win in life.

Joanie Dodds was the 1st runner-up on America's Next Top Model cycle 6 that recently finished being televised in Southeast Asia. The show aired six months earlier in the US.

The blond haired blue eyed lass is a ministers daughter. She was born September 20, 1981 in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, is 5''9" and wears a size 9 shoe.

After the contest was over Dodds moved to Hollywood, California to pursue her dream to be a model.

It seems that Dodds is obtaining as much work and possibly more than winner Danielle Evans.

Throughout the series the shows producer Tyra Banks and judges were impressed how she always seemed to take good pictures. Their concern was did she have the personality and ambition to be what it takes to be a top model.

Dodds received the most first callouts (noting that she was the best for that episode) in the history of the show. It's too early in her career to gage if she will be a success but her perseverance is a major part of what it takes to be successful.

CARING FOR CAMBODIA

Lenovo computer manufacturer CEO Bill Amelio and his wife Jamie are appearing on the CNBC show Managing Asia. They talk about after visiting Angkor Wat in 2003 they recognized the need for educating children when the children were begging for money for their school tuition..

Since that time they established a foundation that has built four schools in Cambodia. At present the Amelio's Caring For Cambodia Foundation educates 3000 children for FREE. The foundation also bought 1500 bicycles to give to the students. Lenovo contributed computers for the schools.

The couple are guardians for two Cambodian children. The 47-year-old Lenovo chief said he came from humble beginnings growing up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania the son of a shoe repair man.

Jamie pointed out that since Angkor Wat and Siem Reap are attracting so many tourists that learning the English language is important for the children's future employment.

For Internet and hi tech lovers tune in to the BBC's CLICK ON LINE. The half hour show airs at 3:30pm Tuesday afternoons in the Thailand/Cambodia time zone. Check local listings for time time and date in your area.

WORLD'S APART

WORLD'S APART is a good TV show to watch on the AXN channel. It sends an American family to a foreign land to live with indigenous people for 10 days. The family has to adapt to their culture and ways.

This is the perfect show that demonstrates how people can get along.

JAY LENO Is (Spot) On

You often hear the phrase SPOT ON meaning you got it right or it's hot. When it comes to comedy often the humor is lost in the translation of language or a cultural misunderstanding.

Jay Leno is recognized as one of America's top comedians. He took over The Tonight Show that Johnny Carson hosted for many decades. They said nobody could replace Carson but Leno certainly has having hosted the show for a decade himself.

To see if Leno is SPOT ON for you the show airs on the CNBC channel Saturday night and Sunday afternoons in the Southeast Asia region. Check your listings.
